"Super Size Me!" by Morgan Spurlock

Sometimes I think its good to watch that or some of the you tube stuff to keep my fast food cravings in check, or like you, motivate me while I'm exercising. Its funny how much our thoughts have changed? Before we wouldn't be on the treadmill, and probably driving through somewhere. Now its so different! :-).

    Bandster Bashers

I tend to be someone who tells a lot of people a lot of things. Not saying that is right, by any means. I do wish I had told less people. Only because I have about 15 people watching me daily at work and some say "you didn't lose any weight yesterday?" then I have to go through the whole thing over again -- weight loss TOOL, process, lifestyle, etc etc. And my mother is the worst of all. I am seriously already nervous about going there for Thanksgiving. It will never be enough no matter how much weight I lose by then or how different I look. She just has a different mindset. I have a couple great supporters that are around to defend me. And trust me, I will be around to support any and all of you! Hugs*******

    Exercise Goals #2

My trainer uses unusual phrases we would not normally associate with exercise and health? He calls failure what I would call "fatigue" meaning the last set you can't lift the weights anymore -- you "fail" to finish the set. I'm tired, but looking forward to arms tomorrow morning. We are going to try a kickboxing class Wednesday! After the fiasco of Zumba I'll probably just move my body and my arms for awhile, but its better for me than sitting in traffic :-).

    Newbie

Welcome to a wonderful site where you can read up on all kinds of issues and opportunities (in the forum), meet and interact with people who will and have gone through this, and even journal about your experiences and get honest feedback. This site has been tremendously helpful to me throughout the process: insurance to pre-surgery diet to post-surgery pain to questions to suggestions..... Welcome, and best wishes to you!

    Can't feel Port anymore????

I've had that a couple times. Sometimes I feel a little swollen (maybe from exercise?), or bloated and it seems like the port disappeared, when logically we know it can't. Where would it go??? I was banded the day after you. Trust me, the surgeon had no problem finding it for my first fill!!! It was below and to the right of where I thought it was...........

    Blowing it out of proportion?

Maybe he feels threatened because you are making physical, mental and emotional changes and you are looking to people other than him for support sometimes? Some people are very suspicious of the Internet, period. The best you can do is reassure him that you aren't doing anything but helping yourself. Good luck, and best wishes :-).

    Exercise Goals #2

I ramped up elliptical today to do intervals as my trainer suggested. I did 60 minutes on there today. Also did about 30 minutes of lower body, but my heart wasn't in it. Need to push to "failure" as the trainer says. Tired.

Patience and I Don't Have Much in Common

I expect to wake up every morning feeling thinner. I never do, but I expect to! I expect to work out hard at the gym and walk out of there feeling wonderfully fit and look put together. I never do, but I expect to. I expect to put on pants/skirts every day and have them be so big they need safety pins to keep them on. Sometimes this happens but not always. I have very high expectations for myself after this surgery. I'm not meeting them, and instead of learning some amount of patience to deal with the fact that its only been 7 weeks and I'm not going to look like Cindy Crawford yet, I get frustrated and this affects my eating, sleeping and workouts. I wish I could take a pill and sleep for a year, wake up 100 lbs lighter and move on my way. I know it took time to get this heavy, but I lack the patience to wait for the time to not be this heavy. I don't mind the workouts or the cooking or the planning, I just want INSTANT RESULTS every day, every way. Thinking a discussion with the therapist is in order on this one. I'm not really down, I just want to buy some patience or better yet trade in a couple dozen pounds for some patience??? :rolleyes2:

    I feel SO normal!

Great pictures and nice travel log! I've driven that many times, and it is pretty for the first time you drive it. After that it gets a little flat and boring. Congrats on the weight loss and welcome back!

    And the Trainer Says.......

OK, I had a trainer appointment this morning. I got measured (4 weeks since joining gym and having first measurements), and had a nice chat. At $100 an hour I could find a nice dog to chat with and buy a new pair of pants, but ok. And its not as if I didn't enter into this contract with eyes wide open and wanting the motivation and information..... First, I have lost 2 inches from my hips, 1.5 from thighs and 1 from my waist. Considering I can't and haven't done any core or lower body weights these results are just from the elliptical. I'm over the moon. Explains why my pants fall off when I walk. Trainer says I need to start lower body this week which I agree with. I'm going to meet with him again next Sunday and start core. My pain (from who knows what) on my left side is mostly gone and I'm cleared 8 weeks out (next weekend) to start core so that's that. I need to kick up my elliptical -- not working hard enough. WHAT??? I guess I wasn't pushing hard enough and I need to try to get my heart rate up over 130 (target is 150-170? JEEZ). Its around 100-110 now, but I'm off high blood pressure meds so it should go up fairly well now. But I'm not supposed to be able to easily hold a conversation during the 45 minutes so there you have it. I went online and recorded almost 100 songs that I can play while I'm on the elliptical that will keep me moving faster. That way when my workout buddy flakes on me or I'm on my own I can listen to some catchy fast tunes to keep my pace up! Watching the soccer match, cleaning, laundry and packing food for lunches. Fun, relaxing day! :rolleyes2:

    Exercise Goals #2

I had a good week with exercise and met the goals I set, but I need to do more during the weekend, and add some lower body weights next week. Still have minor left-side pain from pulling a muscle last Sunday.

    McDonald's....what have you done?

I was a meal #1 supersized for years. Ate it on the way home from work. And sometimes I had chicken nuggets on top of that. Jesus. I saw the shots my surgeon took of my insides. It horrified me. That is extra large fries, coke and a big mac times a thousand. I can't go back there, ever. Anywhere else. I totally get this video.

    frustrated

Don't get down -- this is a lifestyle change not a diet for a month. Besides, chips and salsa aren't bad if you don't eat a lot of them and don't eat them three times a day! Take it easy on yourself. The biggest step is over -- you got the band. I'm just one fill in too, and its a battle every day, but I know the starvation will improve, as it will for you. Take care!

My First "STUCK"!!!! (and I'm so happy!!!)

Laughing because I had the same thoughts a couple days ago -- did the band fall out or something? NO, it did not. But we start to get used to it and sometimes forget to chew, or take time between bites, and there it is again, the "gentle reminder". Take care!
