Having Difficulties getting on track...
David: 100 lbs you should be celebrating Congratulations. I think you need to ease up a bit, granted 5 lbs can be too much for some, but you have really done well and if you gained 5 lbs it could be from working out remember muscle weighs more and maybe your body is in starvation mode or last but not least, you might have drank to much Water and it could be water weight. You are an inspiration to many, keep up the good work! Good Luck! Sandee

5 days post op - questions
Hi! Congratulations on your new journey! To answer your question the answer is NO! the most you should do is walk, if you exercise like weights or aerobics you can really damage the port and the cord to the port. So please all of you take it easy these 6 weeks are for healing and making sure your band heals well! We have all been there that we want to get going but right now you are in the most important stage of this process and that is to heal properly! Good Luck! Sandee

10 days Post op and down 22 POUNDS and feeling GREAT!
Hi Dana: I want to first say I am sorry if I sounded mean or offensive that was not my intent. Sometimes reality can get away from us and I see your feet are firmly planted on the ground. Now thank you I can't drink the Protein drinks because the grit just makes me puke! (TMI sorry) but I had no clue of the bullet shot, that for me would be great because it would mean one shot and I am done! So thanks and good luck on your journey. Please add me to your friends page :cursing: Thanks Sandee

Is it normal to feel scared/worried/insecure?
Ok take a deep breath! First congratulations on wanting a better life. When we begin to think about this we all are apprehensive somewhat so no problem there. I would suggest that you and your husband be the only ones that know about the band till you feel strong enough to talk to your other family members. They never need to know your private thoughts or actions to better yourself. So poo poo on them if they can't be empathetic in your time of need for their support. Do you really want their support? Just concentrate on what you have to do, when the time comes and you have had the procedure if you want you can tell them, but honestly they are not paying nor helping in this time why tell them anything. I have a number of band friends and we all agree we tell who we feel comfortable telling, even on Facebook we never bring it up. So get started on this exciting and fabulous journey~ Take heart you are going to do wonderful and as far as anyone needs to know you are eating healthy and exercising, you just have a bonus with the band that helps you! Take Care Sandee

How can I break a plateau?
Be careful with sugarfree stuff if it is splenda or truvia they are a derivative of sugar and it will break down like a carbs do. Just concentrate on low carb, high Protein good luck!

Sweet spot but not losing weight?
Congrats that is awesome, you may want to look at the type of exercise that you are doing, because if you are doing the same thing your body is use to it so hence your plateau. From what I have been told you have to change up your exercise routine weekly or if not you will hit the plateaus. Talke with a trainer at the gym they can give you a more information. I went ahead and ordered the Bodybugg, I hear great things about it, not only does it let you know the calories you burn or that you consume it will let you know which exercise you have burned the most calories. Check it out! Sandee

Your doctor
I want to bring this up, because I am finding that there are some people that feel that if they are with a doctor that is rude and mistreat them, they feel they should stay with that doctor. Lets make something very clear you or your insurance pays the Doctor, they are giving you a service you do not need to put up with rudeness nor should you. Some of these doctors have the God complex and feel that they can say or do anything so you should put up with it! DON'T! YES they are helping you but you are ultimately the one who is helping him/her pay their bills! Now don't get me wrong some Doctors take it personal when we don't loose weight and get upset and that is ok, however, when it comes to you needing your doctor because you are hurting or your uncomfortable the last thing you need is to be told that you can't be seen immediately that you need to wait 2 weeks REALLY??? No you are the customer you are paying you need to demand satisfaction if they don't give it to you, you can go somewhere else. Do your homework find out who the doctor is, just because they have TV commercials does not make the good. Check them out, do your homework, visit their office just go in see how the patients are doing in the waiting room sit ask questions, nothing wrong with that, when you go to buy a car do you buy it without a test drive? Take Care of you, YOU are the one in control not them! This journey is suppose to be a positive yet a challenging one! Take it one day at a time, love yourself and make sure others are loving you and respecting YOU! Good Luck on this wonderful, beautiful Journey!

10 CC band- How many CCs to get restriction?
Mimi: First of all you are not a failure, infront of anyone, as for your friends and family inform them how it works, that this is not a overnight success and it takes time, show them the pics of different women and men here who have lots tons of weights and it was no over nite! As for gaining, it happens and you are not alone, until you find your sweet spot you will fluctuate and that is ok! Concentrate on what you want and how you feel! This is about you not your friends or family if they so much tell you anything negative then they were never supporting you from the beginning! You are not alone we are all behind you,we have all been where you are and we have and will have our success and failures and that is fine because this is a learning experience and a tool to facilitate our weight loss goal! Take Care Sandee

Please help
Congratulations! On your new journey! From what you are describing it is your port:cursing:, give it sometime it needs to heal, I had the same issue with burning sensation. As for your pee, did you have a cath put in? What you may want to do to go back to a regular flow is the next time you have to go, put your hand in some warm Water. this will get your bladder back to it where it needs to be. (this is an old army trick and it worked for me, when I had a C section) Good luck Sandee

10 days Post op and down 22 POUNDS and feeling GREAT!
Congratulations on your success:thumbup:, I don't want to dampen your spirit but I want you to be realistic. Right now you are in the Pre Op stage, you are healing, you may gain some weight or get stuck and that is ok:tongue:. Once you have your first fill you will be a different person and you will really be able to give it your all in everything. Do not get discouraged if anything does not pan out as you planned or your body is not reacting as you want it to, this happens, it is a learning experience and you go on and try different things that work for you. I have met a few people on here who become upset and want to give up if their body is not looking like they thought or the scale is not where it should be!~ Everyday will prove to be a challenge just meet it head on with the same enthusiasm you have right now! I am in the same journey with you and believe me I am pumped up but I am also keeping it real, because sometimes our success goes to our head and we forget from where we came from and where we are going! Keep it up! Take Care and enjoy the journey!

What am I doing wrong?
First of all Congratulations on your new way of life:thumbup:, now for the rest! Please Please Please take this post op time as recovery you have to heal don't worry about what your eating as long as your eating healthy. I was weighing myself and the doctor said that as long as I was eating healthy just to concentrate on healing. You have no restriction because you stomach was swollen and that is starting to subside. Keep walking and eating healthy and you will get there. Once you have your first fill, then you can look at restriction and why you have plateaus. For right now just relax and pamper yourself:wub:~ PSS remember if you have to little calories your body will go in starvation mode and if you do the same exercise your body will get use to it and you'll be stuck so patience Sandee

Pre op diet what amount?
Prepare about 1/2 cup if all you eat is a 1/4 then save it, you are going to have to gauge your hunger. That would be a good way so you can see what you are actually eating versus what I call, old habit serving. You know when before the band you served yourself a heaping load and ate it. That is my struggle, I am still serve myself before band and my family laughs at me because they know I wont be eating it all. Everyday I work had to make sure I don't overserve myself, but I slip! I am trying..... Good Luck and Congratulations on your new life

Hunger pangs
Hi Kellie: I had the same issue, just eat till you feel full, you may have to break down your eating so just concentrate on healing and Congratulations on your new life  Sandee

Diets after banding any Ideas ????
Hi! Congratulations on your new life, one thing you need to remember you are healing and that is the number one priority. Yes you will loose weight but you will gain it, and that is ok so don't be hard on yourself just go with the flow. As far as exercise walking is good during post op, but any other form wait till 6 weeks this includes the weights. From what I understand if you work out your core during recovery you can damage the hose that goes from your port to your band, it can become detached. So take it easy and pamper yourself! Sandee
-
recent lap band - still painful
Hi Angel: Everyone recuperates differently, just concentrate on you, pamper yourself and the rest will be fine. You wil loose but you will gain, don't worry about that everyone does, just work on getting stronger and healing properly. Good luck and Congratulations!~

How can I break a plateau?
Hi Nurse Katie: First off congratulations on your new life! Second: Please concentrate on healing and do not worry about what your eating because right now it has no bearing on your healing. You will loose and gain :smile2: during that time but don't worry! My doctors told me I could gain 2 to 5 lbs during this time, no matter what you will be making healthy choices so you should be fine. I did not gain but I did not loose and all I did was choosing healthy. Once 6 weeks have passed and you have had your first fill, then concentrate on calories and plateaus. Third: Once you do hit a plateau it can be one of two things, a) you are doing the same exercise and your body knows it, so change up exercise routine weekly or :wink5: you have too little calories, if that is the case increase your calories by 100 and give it two days the scale will tell you! Take care and good luck!

First Fill
I think you have to call your doctors office if you feel that uncomfortable! I had my fill 5.4cc in a 10cc band, I thought I had nothing and wow this morning told me differently! I ate two bites of egg salad and one cracker and I feel like I ate 3 eggs and 10 crackers! I feel almost over full! But I was told that in the mornings I will feel more restriction and in the evening a bit looser. So we shall see but wow what a difference!
