  1. I'd call your dr's office just to be sure. I was told to wait. If I can't exercise normally for 6 weeks, then I'm sure as heck not gonna go on a rollercoaster :smile2: I can't wait until I can again though
  2. My nutritionist said that rich foods as well as spicy foods are a problem for some people after surgery. Maybe your stomach just can't tolerate those types of foods anymore.
  3. It's your port. You won't ever be able to feel your band.
  4. Having Lapband doesn't mean that you'll be throwing up each day. This really only happens when you eat or drink too much or too quickly. Follow your nutritionists advice. Have small meals cut into small pieces, and chew chew chew. Sip your water or whatever you're drinking, don't gulp it, and you'll be fine. Listen to your body and follow the rules and it's rare that you'll find yourself throwing up each day.
  5. I'm 5'3 shooting for 125, maybe 120. Only time will tell :tongue2:
  6. Very normal. What Manda said is spot on. I usually go up 2lbs, but sometimes not.
  7. It IS a struggle but it will get better. Hang in there
  8. It does get better! Usually around day 3-4 it really gets easier. Keep on going, you can do it
  9. My doctor said 6 weeks, but obviously the answer differs so just ask. I'd at least want to wait until my incisions were closed.
  10. I think I may try protein shots. I tried to make a Protein shake with 2 scoops of protein. Oh man. I took 2 sips and I want to throw up  I've seen people mix the protein shooters with Crystal Light, so maybe that will work.
  11. I'm on full liquids for 2 weeks, then mushies for 2 weeks, then normal food again. I'm just worried about protein levels..and my hair falling out LOL. My NUT really stressed protein so I'm freaking out about not getting it.
  12. No! I'm loving not being hungry, but I'm just worried about my protein amounts. I know protein is vital but it's just very very hard to get it all on while on liquids only. I bought some unflavored Protein powder and the smell makes me want to puke.
  13. So I'm 5 days post-op, and I realized I have not been eating a lot of food, at all. I do get my 3 meals a day in, but many times I'm forcing myself to eat them and most times I don't want them. Should I be worried or is this normal? I know for a fact I'm not getting my protein amounts in because I can't drink 2 protein shakes a day. I'm literally just full. Any ideas of what I should do or is this plenty normal? Thanks!
  14. I was told Tylenol only.
  15. Congrats on being approved! Like other posters said, the pre-op diet differs for each surgeon. I was on all liquids for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after surgery. This means things like the Campbells cream soups, broth, water, sugar-free jello and pudding, sugar-free popsicles, and juice that was dialated with water. Some peoples' surgeons only require a low-carb/low-cal diet. Best of luck!
  16. Congrats to the both of you! :smile2:
  17. You can do it! I had my surgery 3 days ago and the pre-op diet was hard. I got so sick of cream of chicken Soup and sugar-free pudding, but I did it, and I know you can too! Your headache should go away soon, it's probably a withdrawl headache. Try sipping on some Water or even Crystal Light. Just think, 4 more days until surgery. You didn't do this for 4 days just to back out. Keep your head up and before you know you'll be done and on the losing side.
  18. Congrats and good luck on starting your journey! I was just banded yesterday. May I ask why you've considered Lapband when your husband has been successful with gastric bypass?
  19. Congrats on joining and even more congrats on losing 40lbs, that's awesome! I can't wait to be there. I was just banded yesterday so I'm sure you know much more than I do! Either way, congrats and welcome.
  20. I'd definitely ask your dr. With my post-op diet I'm on liquids for 2 weeks, then mushies for 2 weeks, then real food. chicken and all that isn't allowed until my mushies stage. I wouldn't risk eating them before asking the dr as he/she will know if your stomach and band are healed enough to handle that type of food.
  21. Congrats on your weight loss! You'll be at your goal before you know it.
  22. For anyone who has been banded, what should the pain feel like? I was banded yesterday and I have a dull pain in my shoulder blades but it is off and on and not much of a bother, but ever since surgery I have some discomfort in my stomach area. It feels like I ate too much and its all just sitting in my stomach. Is this a normal discomfort to feel? If so how long does it take to go away? Thanks! :scared2:
  23. I think all of the anxiety and worry is very normal. I had mine a few days ago after I saw I lost 12lbs on the pre-op diet. I started to wonder if I could do it on my own. I may be able to, but in the long run, I know I wouldn't. I'd do good for a few months and then go back to my old ways of eating whatever I see. Hand to mouth disease, as my dr. calls it. I get banded tomorrow at 7:45AM so I am excited! Worried still, but excited. Good luck to everyone!
