  1. This is great- now that I watched I am back to being worried about my bougie size! He says he uses a 32 fr bougie, b/c anything bigger he says is a bigger chance of weight regain or not getting down to goal. My dr uses a 40 bougie, seems like a quite bit bigger compare to 32 when a dr says the biggest he'll go is a 32...
  2. I just dont get it, I thought I would have a pre op diet but I dont and when I asked the NUT she said that there isnt any evidence that it does anything!!?. I plan on doing a low carb, high protein diet 2 weeks prior, just incase.
  3. I would like to know what your Dr.'s post op diet consists of? Seems like mine is so rushed....I dont understand why some ppl have clear liquids, why the post op diets are SO different but we all had the same surgery!? First 6 weeks: PUREED FOODS BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER 2oz PROTEIN, 2oz PROTEIN, 2oz PROTEIN 1oz fruit, 1oz veg., 1oz starch WEEKS 7-12 Same as above but NOT pureed. MONTH 3-6 BREAKFAST LUNCH DINNER 2oz PROTEIN 2oz PROTEIN 2oz PROTEIN 2 FRUIT 2oz VEG 2oz STARCH MONTHS 6-9 Same as months 3-6 but add 1 oz protein to each meal.

  5. You cannot have it both ways." -- Anonymous How's that for short and meaningful? You cannot lose weight...if you continually overindulge. You cannot become physically fit...if you are completely inactive. You cannot expect success...if you don't follow the program. You cannot know how much you are eating...if you don't track your food. You cannot finish your weight loss journey...if you don't ever get it started. You cannot improve your health...if you don't choose to eat some healthy foods. You cannot follow your plan...if you haven't bothered to make one. You cannot maintain your weight loss...if you return to old behaviors. You cannot find victory...if you always find excuses.
  6. Tiff, Are you now thinking that the bougie size has something to do with long term loss?? If you take 2 people one bougie size 40 and the other person 32fr. Lets say, they eat/exercise the same, have to same amt of weight to lose and have no medical problems. Do you think the person with the 40fr is going to have harder time losing weight, and easier to regain??? Just thought I'd get your input on this. Thanks~
  7. I got this off another weight loss site and if you can watch, you will learn so much. I have come up with more questions to ask my doc. ACTUAL FOOTAGE!! ORLive, Inc.: Weight Loss Surgery: Gastric Sleeve

  9. Sorry~ I'm confused... Did you get a pre-approval already and worried about the final approval if you lose more weight?
  10. Congrats on your dates! Right now, I'm trying to visualize me going in on surgery morning and being calm. I've heard that you should work out your lungs before surgery by blowing up small size balloons, once you blow them up, throw em away and keep doing this-a anestetheologist recommended that... So just to be safe, why not? Share what's going thru your minds at this time... We are not alone in this~:001_smile:
  11. WOO HOO, I'm gettin sleeved Sept 17, keep in touch!

I just redirect my thoughts to the new healthy me...
  14. I'm getting sleeved Sept 17. I have 120 lbs to lose. I thought it would be good to have some friends going through the samething. Let me know..
  15. FINALLY, got a date scheduled for the VSG SEPTEMBER 17. I just had surgery total open hysterectomy June 30 (due to severe endometriosis stage 7) two nights in the hospital. This gives me about 90 days apart, my gyn and wls docs know this and both agreed it would be okay. Its pretty hard to think about another surgery right now cuz I'm still very sore, BUT this one I'm so excited and waited so long for. Please anyone, give me advice, what items to get ready, how much pain I'll be in.. I've researched and now seems all my info I had in my brain just ran out! lol thanks in advance
  16. so sorry to hear, I too had infertility issues and no insurance. At 40 decided to dump the idea of ever being pg. last wednesday, had a total radical hysterectomy due to severe endometriosis. i did adopt 3 siblings and although i still crave to hold a bio child, i am very blessed. My advice is to keep going forward fighthing this-have no regrets, you will know when its time to stop.
  17. aww, thank you so much for your kindness tiffkins! means alot to me. I'll keep you posted, kelly
  18. This is another update to the http://verticalsleevetalk.com/tell-your-story/3656-so-lost-what-do-you-do.html I started but wanted to title it with endometriosis in the title, if anyone is annoyed I apologize ahead of time.. UPDATE: April 6th, dr went in to romove one ovary seen how advanced my endometriosis was and immediately closed me back up. UGHHHH!!!!!!!!!! I am stage 4 of endo. this puts everything to a halt once again. Endometriosis is a disease that lives off of horomnes the ovaries produce. Endo acts like rock hard glue and glues all your organs together, if left untreated, it can pentrate your bowels, intestines. Post op consul. dr again said i am in bad shape in there and need to do a total hysterectomy. Dr said that the endo has attached itself to my bowels, appedix and intestines, that my ovaries have fused themselves together, dr will need the assistance of a de vinci machine..after the hysterectomy she will not give me hormones for 6 months & that all other endo should die off. My surgery date for hysterectomy is 6/30/2010. I am 43 years old, have always had normal periods, but painful ones all my life, since 15. after going to several drs for pain, i was told the pain was normal- just take more nsaids. i fought infertility after many drs/tests i was told that all is normal and theres no reason i shouldnt be pg. just keep trying. my advice to anyone is dont trust anyone, do your own research, get second opinions, listen to others who have been there... HERE IS A LINK TO MY JOURNEY ON UTUBE... God bless... http://www.youtube.com/user/determinedtobethin1

  22. Mini!! If you look back at your years of dieting, yes you probably lost weight, BUT you always gained it back~ look at it now, you wont gain it back, the pounds gone are gone forever!!! You see ppl here that go thru a time where the losing stops but just keep up the great work, your body has been thru so much and just catching up now, the losing will start again~ Keep your chin up girl -your doing great~
  23. you guys are so great! Thank you! Jeani & Linda~~ yes they did finally approve me and I will help you in any way I can. Why did they deny you? Anthem denied me stating that it was "medically unnecessary" but I when I questioned it (my bmi over 40 & high blood pressure)Anthem said that they actually denied me because they didnt see my height & weight in the submission!!? When I called Drs office, they called Anthem and told them where to look on the paperwork & that it was in there all along so my paperwork went back in front of the review and was approved!! OMG talk about doing their job for them! Furthermore, Drs office said that this wasnt the first time Anthem denied and a call or appeal changed their minds!! SO FIGHT GIRLS! I'M ON YOUR SIDE, EMAIL ME IF I CAN HELP YOU.
  24. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got a call from Drs office insurance dept. said that I was denied b/c Anthem didnt have my weight & height BUT it was there they just didnt see it, Anthem APPROVED ME!! WHAT A ROLLER COASTER RIDE TODAY! I am one step further to my goal that I am determined to get to.... Chancie! wow! what an inspiration you are! Congrats on your weight loss, I'm happy for you, and like you, I know I have to do something, its just going to get worse if I dont. Thanks for your thoughts.
