Not enough calories???
Yes! I totally love it! I find it SO easy to log in my food and keep track of my water! I usually have such a hard time doing that....but it kind of makes it fun to see it on paper and all tallied up at the end of the day. I think it'll be easy to keep up with this one! A lot of the times on other sites I would get frustrated b/c I couldn't find the food that I was looking for......but this one seems to have a ton of different foods. As far as the calorories...I looked on my paperwork and it didn't mention anything about calorie intake. It just said that I needed to hit 50 grams of protein per day, which I seem to be doing with ease. Thanks for all of your suggestions! I LOVE this site!

Not enough calories???
I was banded on the 10th, so just over 2 weeks post op. My Dr. wasn't there at the last appointment; there was a P.A. there instead. She said that I was doing well. I am just nervous about eating too much....I think I had read in the paperwork that it was about 1000 calories. Ack....I think I need to call them and just verify.

Not enough calories???
OK...so I don't think I'm getting enough calories?? I signed up on sparkpeople.com b/c I was curious to see. I entered everything I drank/ate today...and I think I was overly liberal with the portion sizes....but I'm only at 498 for the day. This is a problem, right?? I'm not sure how to get more in. I'm afraid that I'll get used to eating too much. Right now, I am having VERY small portions of mushies....and I"m not super hungry either. Any suggestions??

2 weeks Post-Op tomorrow!
lnhardemon: Nope...I had the band. I had staples on my incisions that needed to be removed. losing 77: I started mushies yesterday and for lunch I had one egg scrambled. For dinner, I ate a small amount of tuna in a bowl mixed up really, really well with mayo. I bought some mashed potatoes too...but don't plan on eating a ton of those b/c I don't really want to do too many carbs. I'm just excited to be able to chew something! hahahaha....

2 weeks Post-Op tomorrow!
SO...tomorrow is 14 days pre-op! I can't believe how fast the time is going! I had my staples removed today. I was pleased that it hardly bothered me! :w00t: The Dr. put on some steri-strips just to make sure that the incisions stay closed. I have lost nearly 20 lbs....and I am pumped! I have started mushies today and I am in my glory! hahahaha....It's just that I am SO excited to eat real food instead of shakes and pureed soups. Anyway, I head back to work on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to it....I'm pretty much back to normal and feeling great....but wanted to take the whole 2 weeks my Dr. recommended. Anyway, that's my update!

6 days in to my pre op diet and struggling
I second the EAS Myoplex Carb Control Shakes in Chocolate Fudge. Also, I really like Nectar by Syntrax. Someone suggested that I purchase a variety pack of individual flavors to test out which ones I like. You can get them from www.mybariatricpantry.com. I actually just ordered some more b/c I really liked them.....plus, I think they will be easy to bring to work when I go back in a week. I also bought a big jug of the Chocolate Truffle and the Cherry one. It mixes really well....and I put it in a Magic Bullet with either milk or water (depending on the flavor), along with a couple of ice cubes....and it is pretty yummy! I hated Isopure....I thought it tasted like throw up! haha....

Operation Mission Pre-Op Diet Day 6
How did you do yesterday, smiley?? Hope all is well. I'm feeling pretty good...just a little residual gas pain....but nothing too crazy! Down 10.6 lbs as of this morning from the 1st of August....so I'm pretty pleased about that! Looking forward to the scales going down, down, downnnnn....

Pre-Op Day 3
Yeah, Nectar is the best! I purchased trial packages from mybariatricpanty.com, which someone on here so graciously informed me! When I got them, I really liked the Chocolate Truffle and the Cherry one....so I bought a big container of each. I also bought some more of the individual packages, for when I go back to work. It'll just be easier than having to scoop out a scoop every morning.....I can grab a package and go! I am loving the Magic Bullet as well....i put in the liquid (either milk or water, depending on the flavor), ice, and blend! The chocolate one seriously tastes like a semi-decent chocolate shake! Amazingly enough.....I thought Isopure was super gross.....but I've seen other people on here rant and rave about it.....so that just proves we are each individuals! Do your best to stay true to the Pre-op diet....After the first three days like yourself, I couldn't even imagine NOT eating for the next 7 days! ack...BUT...I stuck with it and now that I am post-op, I think that it has helped me as far as cravings are concerned. Granted, I don't have much of an appetite (was just banded on the 10th), but I think I would have had more head hunger had I not done my best with the Pre-op! Anyway, hope that helps!

August rush 2010!!!
Thanks! It went really well....I'm feeling good...except for gas pains in my back....but that was to be expected, right? I'm just hoping they go away soon!! But the surgery went great....I did have a hernia that needed to be fixed as well....but I think my Dr. said that 50% of the patients who get the band end up having to have a hiatal hernia fixed as well. I asked him again this morning....b/c I was really groggy yesterday in the recovery room when I thought I heard that that had been done. I'm home now....and just drinking water & apple juice. I'm not really hungry at ALL....tomorrow I start my protein - 2 week liquid post-op diet. I think with the practice from the 2 week prior to the surgery, I'll do just fine. We'll see! Anyway, I'm happy that it was over. I was kind of nervous...and as I was in the OR, I quickly thought to myself, "Is this what you really want to do???" hahaha....a little late, right? I think I was just freaked out by all of the apparatus in the cold OR! Anyway, I"m glad to be be done...and home....and onto my road to recovery.

Banded Yesterday!!!! 8/10/10
AHHH...I was finally banded yesterday! Overall, I'm feeling pretty ok. My back is SO sore...I can't figure out if it is b/c I laid flat on the table for an hour and a few minutes.....or if it just gas. I took some GasX strips...and I'm trying to get up and around to move stuff around. Anyway, my incisions sites are ok....pretty much just the port site is tender. I've only been taking Liquid Tylenol today b/c the Roxicet that my dr. prescribed makes me sick to my stomach. Anyway, I'm glad to be out of the hospital....I slept HORRIBLE last night! Up EVERY hour and bored to tears! Ackkk....but it is over now and I am at my house. I took two weeks off...and hope that'll be enough to feel back to myself. Alrighty....looking forward to hearing other stories of the recently banded folk!! Yayyyy!! I'm finally here! It seemed like FOREVER....but I'm praying it works like I am praying it is supposed to!!!

Ahh!!
PHEWWWWWWW! I have officially been approved!!!! YAYYY! Game on! On to BandLand!
-
Ahh!!
SO...Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow but my Dr.'s office just called this morning and said that the insurance has not yet approved my surgery! WTF?! My program was over on the 3rd of August....so it should have been approved by now! I think they are frantically trying to call the insurance company today to see what is up.....I will be SOO pissed if my surgery is cancelled and rescheduled! AND...to top it all off, my boyfriend is giving me grief about my decision to not tell my mother or my sister. My mother works as a medical records coder and right while I was beginning to look into it, she and my sister had this conversation about how she could never imagine why anyone would want to do this....with all of the complications, etc! I knew right then that I would NEVER tell her! I don't want her negativity to bother me. My boyfriend just doesn't understand why I wouldn't share something this big with him. I keep trying to get him to understand....but he doesn't. Today he threw out the..."what if something happens to you" card. I was like, "Nothing is going to happen to me....I'll be fine!" He was like, "This is surgery...anything could happen to you!" I told him that I'd cross that bridge if I got to it. He didn't really like that answer and told me he needed to get off the phone. He has been incredibly supportive of my decision to do this....but this has been a big issue for us.... me not telling my family about it. PLUS....they all talk a ton...and I don't want EVERYONE to know about it! This is very personal for me....and I don't need everyone's input on my decision. The decision has been made months ago....and will *HOPEFULLY* be completed tomorrow! ACK....I do NOT need this stress today!

August rush 2010!!!
I'm having mine done at the Caritas Norwood Hospital. I had done a bunch of research and heard great things about Surgical Weight Loss Specialists in Norwood. It is a father/son duo that only do Lap-Bands. So, you already did the 6 month icanchange program through Tufts? Ugh...that sucks if you had to go through other hoops too! :smile2: Yay...at least you have a date scheduled! That will be so exciting! I am very excited...and a little nervous...just about the pain b/c I'm a big baby! hahah....Plus, I've never been in a hospital as a patient before....so this is completely new experience for me too! Anyway, I'd love to keep in touch!! It's great knowing there are others around getting the same thing done! ~Jen

Weird....I am completely the other way! I haven't eaten a solid since last Saturday and I've been completely constipated! I've been #2 about 2 times all week!

August rush 2010!!!
That's SO funny! It's amazing how different everyone is....b/c that was the first one I tried...and I thought I was going to die! I thought it tasted awful! hahaha....I have enjoyed Myoplex Carb Control Chocolate Fudge (premade shakes). For the powder, I have enjoyed Nectar by Syntrax. I bought a variety pack of individual packages from mybariatricpantry.com. It was good to see which flavors I like....plus, they come in individual packages...which could be easier to take to work. Plus, they come in some fruity flavors like Cherry & Strawberry Kiwi that are pretty good too blended with ice! hope that gives you some more options!

August rush 2010!!!
I typically only check out the blogs...but decided to be adventurous and check out other parts of this site! hahah....Anyway, I came across this Forum! I too am being banded in August....actually, I'll be banded on the 10th! I am SOOO excited! I'm a little nervous of the pain...only b/c I've never had any kind of serious injury or surgery or broken bone....nothing! I have NO idea what to expect...although I'm thinking it'll be pretty bad! Anyway, I'm day 7 on my liquids...and someone was right. After the 3rd day of being starving and CONSTANTLY thinking about food, it has gotten remarkably easier! I can't believe it...but it is really true...and if someone had told me that last Monday, I surely would not have believed them! hahahah.... It's nice having this little group of people who are all banded around the same time! I'll be excited to track everyone's progress too!! Anyone from MA??

August 7th 2010
Yay for you!! I'm being banded on the 10th! Looking forward to being banded and moving along in this new life! Nice to know that someone is right around the same timeline as me! Let's keep in touch!!

weight loss surgery for dummies?
Thanks for the book suggestion! I am being banded on the 10th...so I'm sure I'll be wanting to read while I'm down and out for a couple days afterwards. Or maybe I'll just want to sleep!? hahaha...I don't really know! Anyhow, if you have any other suggestions, I'd be more than happy to take them!

Operation Mission Pre-Op Diet Day 6
SO...amazingly...it IS getting easier! I definitely couldn't imagine me even thinking this on Monday! hahaha...All I could think about was eating something...anything! hahaha... I feel good today! I'm down 4.2 lbs this morning since Sunday! I suppose that helps too...when every time I step on the scale, it is going in the southern direction! hahah :tt2: At least I'm seeing some progress immediately. I'm happy with 4lbs...I can't wait to see how I am with 20, 30, 40, 50, etc.!! Anyway, surgery is on Tuesday (the 10th!). Any suggestions as far as what to bring to the hospital? The nurse at pre-op said that I should wear comfy clothes...b/c those would be the clothes that I'd be going home in. No jewelry, no cell phones... Anything else that I need? Anyway, I'll be cleaning this weekend...making sure that everything is all set for my return on the 11th. I'm going to have all of my laundry washed, my bedsheets cleaned, all of the dishes done, etc. I purchased some containers of Nectar, so they are scheduled to arrive on the 10th. I'll make sure I have plenty of popscicles and chicken stock in the house! I'll make sure I have plenty of Gas-X strips too. I want to be set for the week, at least...even though I have the second week off as well. Anyway...any suggestions to make this upcoming week a little easier would be great! I can't wait to join you all in Band Land!
