  1. I'm not sure, but that does not sound good. I would most definitely contact the dr asap!
  2. Congrats on the surgery date!! Its completely normal. When I got my surgery date, I was suddenly very nervous & anxious. The time will fly by and before you know it, it will be surgery time! And I'm sorry you don't have a strong support group, but this website is great for that. Believe me, any questions or anything, someone here has an answer for you! Good luck!
  3. I am certified in micropigmentation (along with being a hairstylist & makeup artist) & i have the say its a great procedure. Please be sure to research places in your area & do NOT go to the cheapest place. Its the same as getting a tattoo, you want someone who has good experience and good skills. Depending on where you live, the price varies. In Denver, its between $200-$450 depending on what you are doing. Honestly, the lips do have to be redone more than the eyes because that area doesnt hold the pigment as well over the years, it will fade faster. Of course, if you go to the same person for both the original procedure & touch up, the touch up will be less expensive. Just a piece of advice. Good luck!
  4. i just started a blog..well its an old blog, but i started blogging about my journey. yay blogging! erinrutledge.blogspot.com
  5. i don't understand how or why you would lie/fake that. and yes, you would have to supply some sort of documentation for any legit insurance or surgeon. i was approved & aside from being obese, the other other condition i have is hypothyroidism. and that diabetes runs so strongly in my family. i guess i just don't understand why you would feel the need to lie or fake it. but thats just me.
  6. according to my dr's list of foods, when i get to stage 2, soft & moist, fish, turkey & tuna are all good. not pureed. just as long as they are moist, so they suggest like canned tuna in water, etc. but no i don't think you need to puree your fish
  7. thank you guys for your responses. i'm just slightly paranoid since i am new to this. but i did figure it was normal. thank you again guys!!
  8. i have a pain in my abs near my port. it is in the inside and it just feels a little tight. just sore right there. i am only 4 days post op, so i figure this is probably normal. but i am curious if anyone else had anything similar to this. i hope this makes sense, its kinda hard to describe
  9. i think its completely natrually to second guess yourself. but along wih the band you are learning new eating habits so it really isn't like other yo yo diet we've all been on throughout our lives. i think as long as you are mainting proper eating habits, you'll be fine. congrats on the weight loss thus far!!
  10. also, there are all sorts of resources on the sidebar of this website. different financing, deals on lap band, etc. just another thing for you to look into
  11. i would round down. because i am also at a half size, i'm 5'3 and a half inches. the dr's always round me down to 5'3"
  12. i was also thinking of suggesting Mexico. i have a friend here in colorado who's insurance would not cover her for lapband surgery. she actually traveled to mexico and had it done by a surgeon who has a LOT of experience, apparently he's been on tv shows and such talking about it. but it was very inexpensive for her, idon't remember exactly how much but i'm thinking less than $5,000. you could find an inexpensive trip down there. its worth looking into.
  13. I am a hairstylist & makeup artist at an amazing little rock & roll inspired salon called Luxe de Vil. I love every minute of it, its the place i always dreamed about working while I was going through school. I couldn't have found a better place!
  14. people are so stupid. i'm sorry you had to even deal with that, but i hate girls & guys like that. like you said, its makes you more motivated to lose the weight and once you do, they are going to be the same girls that are throwing themselves at you! i just hate that people are so rude.
  15. my main problem is that i don't really know when i'm hungry or not. lol i know that sounds weird but because i know my body is readjusting and as my sister said, i'm having to relearn my bodys signals. sometimes ill eat a few bites of mashed potatoes just so i feel full then all of the sudden i feel hungry like an hour later. then sometimes i dont get hungry at all. i don't know. but i did talk to the dr from my support group today & she said that as long as i'm eating 5 small meals (even though its only a few bites at a time) i should be just fine
  16. I'm glad to hear that it was easy for you to go back to work so soon, I am also a hairstylist / makeup artist, and i go back to work on tuesday so i'm def. glad to hear it!
  17. anxiety is completely normal. i was slightly nervous when i got to the hospital monday morning, while they were doing my iv and everything. i talked to my mom and the nurses and i was okay but once they wheeled me into the or i cried, just a little, cause i was freaking out. fear of the unknown. but i passed out as soon as that anesthia hit me, then woke up in the recovery room. monday night i had a lot of pain because i was terrified to take the viccodin (im not really one to take meds a lot) so tha was a rough night but tuesday morning i took my pain meds and i've been just staying on top of the pain and honestly, its been great. i can eat a little here and there, just to keep my energized and not feeling sick. i get up and walk around a lot, which helps so much with any pain and gas. and the little breathing tube thing they gave me (where you have the keep the indicator or ball between the two arrows while you're breathing in) has helped a lot too. drink plenty of fluids. i had bad dry mouth too and i found that sugar free lemon discs helped a lot! you don't chew em up, don't eat them. just suck on them for a little bit because lemon makes you naturally salavate. just an fyi if you do have any dry mouth GOOD LUCK! & as others have said before, this really is a great place. i've been on everyday since my surgery, reading the good the bad and the ugly. it helps to be informed on all of it
  18. i got one of those breathing things and i do it several times an hour, it really seems to help. walking around and then doing those breathing exercises has helped a lot with the gas pains and my lungs
  19. i'm actually feeling pretty good. i'm sore of course, having the gas pains but i've found that walking around is helping so so much! i'm just ready for this journey to begin & to start losing weight!
  20. i'm erin, 26, from Denver (yay colorado bandits!) i was just banded yesterday. glad to see another coloradoan on here!
  21. when i was 22 my roomie and i shared a birthday, she wanted to get hers done for our birthdays so she paid for mine lol, i'm 26 now, still have em, still love em. go them done w 14g barbells and once they were healed i put in other barbells, still 14g but they have cute little gems in the end (pink!) and right now i have pinchers in cause i needed something plastic or acrylic in yesterday during surgery...no metal
  22. i was banded yesterday and i did 3 days clear liquid prior. now for 2 weeks im on full liquids including mashed potatoes and cream of wheat so def follow your dr's instructions. i have the shoulder and gas pains. i hyperventalated a little coming out of anesthia and had some nausea last night. today im doing pretty good w my pain meds though
  23. So after a year on the waiting list, I am finally getting banded on Feb 1!! I am so excited and terribly nervous. I went through my 6 week class (i am going through Kaiser) & they had told us our surgeries probably wouldnt be until March or later..however, when they called me today to see if I had chosen a surgeon, they happened to have an availabilty Feb 1. I cannot wait
