  1. i'm about 5 months out and just recently noticed the hair loss/thinning. i've always had super thick hair and i definitely started panicking when i noticed the thinning/loss. i'm a hairstylist so it makes me even more self conscious and concerned. i've been using Nioxin but just started using Alterna Life Volume Restore because its a better product than Nioxin, so i'm going to see if it helps more. I also take biotin daily. I have hypothyroidism as well, so i don't know if thats a contributing factor or not. I'm glad i have been able to read others' stories here to see that i'm not completely alone in this
  2. haha it actually grossed me out a little the first time i felt it lol
  3. i buy fat free refried beans (rosarita) & heat them up. add some shredded cheese, some 505 salsa, & a little light sour cream. yum! for 1/2 cup its only 173 cal total. & keeps ya full
  4. at 1 week out, i felt horrible. my incisions hurt, i couldn't sleep on my left side or stomach, as a matter of fact, i had just started being able to sleep laying down at that point. give it a couple of weeks, you'll start to feel better, don't worry
  5. oh...& i started using My Fitness Pal to log everything i'm eating & it seems to be helping a lot too.
  6. so tomorrow i will be 2 weeks post op, and i am feeling great! i started the soft & moist stage of my diet, which is wonderful because i can eat so many more things. i had no idea how good tuna or eggs could be! haha. anyway, my pain is all gone, i can finally sleep on my stomach again & i have my energy back. the good news is, i guess because i'm still a newbie, i still feel like i have restriction. i mean i can eat very little still, but enough to keep my full. & apparently i'm eating the right stuff because i stay full for a long time. now wednesday is my 2 week follow up, so we'll see if i've lost any weight. i haven't weighed myself since day of surgery!
  7. that sounds really good! i will have to give this a try
  8. i know that on the full liquid diet, i haven't been getting enough calories & even trying my hardest, i'm not getting enough protein. i have been getting probably between 500 & 600 cals a day, and i'm supposed to be getting about 1100 to be losing the way i want to
  9. my goal would put me approximately at a 28..i started at 256, i want to get anywhere from 145-155. I'm 5'4"
  10. I haven't gotten my first fill yet, but my guess is that once you get one, you'll start to feel restriction. from what i've read on this site though, it could take a couple fills. i am lucky i guess, because i have felt restriction since day one (i am only a week post op) but i have restriction when i'm eating. good luck
  11. well thanks for your input & welcome to the site! i went back to work today, felt a lot better to get back into my normal routine. i'm very exhausted now, so i'm just bumming around on the couch, which i'm completely comfortable with. i think it will get better every day
  12. i cried last night when i was trying to get comfortable in bed, and i cried the other day because i felt awful & i didn't know why, so i just cried. so i can feel your pain there.
  13. i can't wait to sleep on my belly again!! oh man. lol i'm sorry you had a lot of pain. but i see you've had good weight loss, that's awesome!
  14. this is good to know! thank you very much!
  15. I'm on my feet for the most part, because I'm a hairstylist so I do a little running around & a mostly standing. The only thing i'm worried about is leaning over the shampoo bowls, but i'll figure out a way to work that out, perhaps someone else will be able to shampoo for me. we'll see. but tomorrow is the day so i'm feeling pretty good.
  16. i was wondering about these myself..interested in any responses
  17. i am new to the banding world still, so can someone explain to me what exactly a "slider" food is. i saw a couple of examples in the previous reply, but can you explain more? provide more examples? thanks in advance
  18. the not really knowing if i'm hungry or not is just such a weird feeling. obviously before i knew if i was hungry, i knew if i was full. i'm still on full liquids/mushies. i have been adding protein powder to thing so that i'm getting all the protein i'm supposed to have. so far i've just attributed it to having to relearn my body's signals since i've been banded. i just hope that within the next month i begin to understand my "new stomach" more & understand my hunger & fullness
  19. awesome! good to know, thanks! most of my pain is gone like i said, aside from the bloating and gas. I am returning to work monday, and i expect to be tired and lacking a little energy, but i was hoping i just dont feel like total crap anymore.
  20. Now, I am less than a week post op (banded on 2/1) & i still feel..blah. like i'm bloated & still really gasy. My stomach hurts but not the incisions, its sore from the gasy and bloating. And i'm still having a hard time figuring out if i'm actually hungry or not. Just wondering how long all this lasts...like when will I feel "normal" again & not like i have a piece of plastic inside of me lol
  21. i'm following all of you lol, it is interesting to read everyone's stories
