June surgery dates
I've been eating mine as I would have pre-op, although I do go a little slower. I tend to let any pieces that come off melt in my mouth before swallowing. But, I was given ice chips in the hospital post-op, so the same concepts apply!

New pos op member
Congrats! I'm Day 7 post-op and feeling pretty hood myself

2nd week post-op
I can! I was commenting to my doctor yesterday that I was almost scared at how well my liquids go down. I had consumed a full 24oz water bottle in the hour it took me to drive to the doctor. Thicker liquids (i.e. my protein shake creations) take longer (last night's double shake took nearly 4 hours), but I'm doing just fine with thin liquids. You?

Im confused on what vitamins i'll need
As long as what you're taking is citrate and not carbonate, you're fine. Citrate is easier to digest.

Im confused on what vitamins i'll need
My regimen includes a multivitamin and calcium citrate - that's it! I bought Opurity online after clearing that brand with my NUT. The only caution is to take the calcium citrate at least an hour away from the multivitamin (no matter what brand you go with) because the iron in the multi negates the absorption of the calcium citrate.

June surgery dates
That will continue while your stomach is healing. Just keep taking it slow and sip, sip, sip!

Are these feelings normal?
The Frosty Protein shake: 1 scoop vanilla protein, 6oz milk (I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk), 1-2T unsweetened cocoa powder and ice! Blend and enjoy FYI - I doubled the recipe which is why I had so much protein in it. Took me nearly 4 hours to drink it...lol!

It's Like They're Daring Me...
My experience with 100 calorie packs? Little to no food and little to no satiety. I'll stick with some protein or veggies that will do the trick better

hw much to u lose ur first month
You'll lose as much as your body wants you to lose in the first month. Everyone - and I mean everyone - is completely different in their weight loss journey. Focus on the rules (protein, hydration, vitamins, etc.) and the scale WILL go down! A number does not define you!
-
A plateau at 3 weeks out? What gives?
Em - Over and over I see people talking about stalls early (and throughout) the journey. 3 weeks out seems to be a VERY common stall around here. Keep doing what you're supposed to be doing (hydrate, protein, multivitamins) and the scale WILL go down eventually! Have you measured your body parts? It's crazy, but sometimes we lose inches rather than pounds. Your body is recovering from two major shocks to your system (surgery & calorie reduction), but you will make it! Just keep breathing and following the rules - you'll be rewarded for your efforts

Pre Op Liquid Diet...really?
Keep drinking the water (it's a great tummy filler) and just put your mind to it. This pre-op diet is leading up to a huge change for you that will be worth the effort you can put in now! I wasn't on a pure liquid pre-op diet, but my pre-op was tough! I am proud to say I didn't cheat once in the 10 days required - I kept my mind focused on the prize!

Dr won't do the lapband to sleeve revision because lapband is eroded
Mine hadn't eroded, but it had slipped almost completely to the bottom of my stomach. I had to have it taken out in one surgery, let my stomach heal for awhile, then had the sleeve done 11 weeks later.

Egg drop soup
I think that entirely depends on your doctor! Mine would say no...that's a puree and I can't have them until Week 3. For full liquids, though, I can have just about any soup as long as I've strained anything chunky (like noodles, potatoes, meat, veggies, etc.) out of it. Can't wait to try the Light Loaded Baked Potato soup I bought earlier today...of course, strained .

Are these feelings normal?
The great thing about the sleeve? You can't NOT lose weight if you make the right food choices! Focus on protein & hydration and that pounds will melt off! My biggest obstacle will be turning down frappuccinos . Luckily, I've found some homemade recipes for protein shakes that mimic fraps - I'll choose those as a substitute! I'm enjoying a "Tastes Like a Wendy's Frosty" shake right now that has 50g of protein!

Post Op Experience
I hear ya - my boyfriend was looking forward to taking care of me once I got home, but I've been a pretty self-reliant and easy patient! Saw my doctor today for my post-op follow up and they agreed that I'm progressing well! I was prepared for the worst, but got the best!

starting to seem real...
You go girl!!

2nd week post-op
I was sleeved on the 7th as well! Besides the standard protein shake (which I've started to get fancy with - google "protein shake drinks" and you'll find some yummy creations to make in the blender!), I've had Cream of Chicken soup (added chicken soup protein powder to it), Cream of Wheat with Sugar Free Syrup added, Cheddar Cheese soup (Campbell's) and just came home from the grocery store loaded with other soups and bisques I'm ready to rock! As long as I strain chunks out of the soups, the doctor said I'm good to go (can't wait for the light loaded baked potato soup strained!). I've also had Yoplait Light, SF popsicles, etc. Saw my doctor today for follow-up and he says I'm doing great, so all is well for my menu!

PROTEIN TRACKER APP
Thanks for the info! I had to play around with MyFitnessPal on my phone before I could find what I was looking for, but I'm good with it now!

Are these feelings normal?
I think that if you didn't have questions/concerns/anxiety leading up to such a major, permanent change in your life, you'd be in the minority. While I was sure of my decision, I still had little flutters of "do you really need to do this?" up until the time of the surgery. I would advise that you continue to utilize this site as a source of information, reaffirmation, etc. and be open and communicative with your support system. Nerves are entirely normal and, in all honesty, I only think they pass once you've been sleeved - at that point, you can't go back!
-
Hitting a weight loss plateau this soon?
I've read over and over of sleevers on here who stall in the first few weeks - it's normal! We've got to remember that we've just put our body through TWO major traumas - surgery and calorie reduction. Keep doing what you're told to do (although I would increase my fluid intake - my minimum is 64oz/day) and the scale *will* move again! Patience will be helpful for skin bounce back as you lose slowly .

New Food Find! Especially for my full liquid friends...
LOL! I've never been a fan of Greek Yogurt (I hear it's an acquired taste), but I'm loving my Yoplait Light in yummy flavors - Boston Cream Pie is the best! Of course, I'm still supplementing with protein shakes, but that little extra taste is yum!

Surgery Day Nerves
Trust that your doctor will do the best surgery s/he can and that you will get the best aftercare they can give! No one wants you in pain and no one wants you vomiting - you'll do great! P.S. I had my LB removed in March - I thought that was the best day of my WLS life until I got the sleeve last Friday. I was too excited about it to be nervous!! Finally, I was getting the WLS that would change my life...which is what I thought I was in for 3+ years ago with the LB!

Surgery June 19th
While I miss food, I also know that (a) I'll be able to take a bite of everything I miss eventually - and, literally, only a bite sometimes and ( I had enough of that food for the last 32 years! I'm with futureloser above - while food smells and looks good around me (on TV, on my boyfriend's plate, etc.), I'm just over it. Cravings are temporary

Before and After pictures ppl! Strut your stuff!
I'd share, but I'm only 6 days out! I can't wait to have a side by side comparison down the line!
