  1. Ashly, I wish I could give you my spot because I am having second thoughts! Uggg, this is so scarey! I am sure I will not change my mind but I wish they would hurry up and call me so I have a time and then I will locked in!
  2. I will be there Saturday; I have to say "see you later" to my new friend Nicole! Plus you guys will need to keep me grounded as I am flying a little bit due to the anticipation of Monday! I have lots of clothes to bring so I going to try and talk my son to come along too so he can carry them into the room for me! If he comes he will enjoy lunch too!
  3. I hope everyone is ok! Pretty darn quiet in here. The thunder is so loud, its really kinda cool.
  4. oh my, I think I need to listen to that relaxation cd that Kaiser gave me....I am kind of in panic mode! I assume this is common but I don't like this feeling...I like being in control and right now I feel out of control since my life will be changing next week! Uggg, I have a busy week ahead of me so hopefully that will keep my mind busy! I will see everyone Saturday! Laurel, I will definately send you an email after the big day!
  5. Hi there, quiet in here today. I hope everyone was out enjoying the sun. I made a raised planter box today and its the start of my veggie garden. I have never done this before so its kind of exciting. I hope to get the soil in it this week and plant next weekend. While I am home recouperating I figured I could tend to the garden. One more week, I am so trying NOT to look at every meal like its my last but damm I keep thinking that everytime I eat! Gotta shake that attitude. Well, hope everyone is having a great weekend.
  6. Ash, that's lots to think about! They talked in one of the classes on how the refulx was a common side effect after sleeve surgery. You might want to look at verticalsleevetalk.com as there are posting about that subject and not everyone ended up with it. That's a tough choice, the RNY has been used for a long time and I know lots of people that are very successful with that surgery and many of them have never had any pbing. On the other hand you could sleeve and you may be fine and not have reflux. Good thoughts to you in your decision! Happy tax day! First time in many years that I did my taxes before the 15th so I am proud of myself! I only did them on the 13th but that is still better! LOL
  7. Way to go ASH! That is so exciting! Your next through this journey! Chrissy, I had to stop weighing myself everyday because like you I dropped real fast and then it slowed way down and it was frustrating. Now I weigh myself every 4 or 5 days and it has seemed to help keep me not in so much turmoil. On the tmi subject, when I take the vitamins I have always taken 1 stool softner as just that extra iron gets me plugged. When I told Liz my list of vitamins she kinda freaked and told me to stop taking those stool softners as your bowels begin to depend on them. I am stopping for now but I won't let myself get plugged...lol tmi, I know. So, I had my preops today with Dr Paks and Dr Chen and all set to go! 13 days until surgery! oh ya, I was down more so my total weight loss thus far is 31 pds!
  8. Jes, that is so funny that you saw her at the store...what a riot! I would love your broth reciepe, I am not much of a cook but part of the new me is to cook more so send me anything you got. Laurel, I love won ton soup so that is a great idea on getting the broth. I for sure going to do that. Tamara, so proud of you being so focused! Keep it up. Chrissy, you rock baby! Whoo hoo! I got my walk in today before the rain came down to hard so I feel better that I am not to far off track now. I have presurgery apt with Dr Park on Wednesday. Need to make sure I don't gain anything.
  9. Ash, great photos of your family...adorable little boys! Thier outfits are so so cute. Chrissy, great job! Keep focused! I felt really bla today and snacked some and didn't do any excercise... I hope tomorrow I wake up with my mojo back but its supposed to rain so that is a bummer! Felt so good last week with the sunshine. I did make it to Trader Joe's today to buy some staples for my stages...I pu some chicken broth, some of the latin black bean soup, decaf tea, and some unsweetened applesause. Anyone have any ideas of foods I should have on hand? 16 more days!
  10. Great job Chrissy! Go for it while your motivated! I actully have clothes to bring to this months support group meeting. My neighbor recently had the RNY and she has donated lots of clothes to pass on to the group also! I have on a pair of 20 pants today...started at a 24! Now if I could only lose it porportionitly so my big fat ass would dissappear I would be even more happy! Happy Friday.
  11. saying the surgery is for female problems is a good idea, there usually aren't a bunch of follow up questions to that one. I was going to say I am having galbladder surgery but don't feel comfortable in making up symptons or rolling with any follow up questions. It's hard, I am not sharing my journey either!
  12. Ash, I like that they are checking before hand; I wish you luck. Hope all the Sacto people are planning on coming to group on the 24th!
  13. Good luck Ash, I know you will do fine! You have worked so hard. BTW, what's the berrium swallow? Is that another apt I will have prior to surgery? Maybe they talked about it today in class but my brain must have been on info overload... Rachelle, Sacto doesn't have anything up here for fills. As Heather said, call member services and write letters, and maybe it will change. I think Laurel contacted them and they said they haven't had enough requests for it which sounds weird since there are many people in the Sacto area driving to Richmond.
  14. Rachelle, I love the humor...it sure is needed in here as everyone has been a bit bummed lately! Welcome and keep the jokes coming! I just got back from my sessions on nutrition and pre op stuff! It was ok, Robin gave the whole thing and she is different but explained everything well. No on warned me they weighed you in....yikes...I didn't wear my "weigh in" clothes and was up a pound (couldn't have been from my vacation last week..lol) anyway still under goal so I'm ok. If any one wants to find me on facebook you can add me as a friend...my name is Alison Bermudez but as mentioned earlier I don't talk about WLS on there as its a secret! TTYL
  15. John you are to funny! I will make sure to give her a big and a kiss for you! Funny how my bp goes up everytime I in Richmond; they referred me to my pcp for follow up and went in today and my bp was fine....it must be the drive all the way to Richmond that stresses me out! lol
  16. Glad to see everyone back on the board! Laurel, I am so sorry about your husband and I will think good thoughts for him. Are you back at work already? Seems like you just had surgery! Be careful and don't lift any heavy cameras! John, so sorry for your job. That is a stresser for sure but your head is in a good place and you wont eat stress like I would! Tomorrow I have a nutrution and preop apt in Vacaville. What are these meetings about? Is it group or one on one?
  17. Hi Rachelle, Welcome, you are close with only 8 lbs to go! The surgery is in Richmond but they do hold some of the pre-op and nutrition classes in vacaville so its a bit closer for some of us Sacto folks. Who is your surgeon and where are you located?
  18. Thanks Pat, I was able to find the binder materials on the website. Hope everyone is well, sure is quiet on here lately. Makes me kind of worried.
  19. Need a favor--can someone fax me section 6 from the binder? I am missing that section and they want me to buy a whole new binder which seems silly. If you have the ability to fax, pm me and I will give you my number... Thanks
  20. Drum Roll Pleeezzz...... April 26th is my date! I didn't expect one so soon so I was going to push it off until June but that date works great for me. Yeah! Hope everyone is on the bright side today!
  21. Hi everyone, I hope that you had a great Easter and were able to enjoy the day with your familly. I am going to say a few prayers tonight for all those that are struggling; I hope that you find peace and strength through this journey...it's not easy but if it were -everyone would do it! You have done some great things towards your health and you will succeed! I see Liz tomorrow....
  22. Hi everyone, This seems like a hard week all around; I started vacation Wednesday and of course its hard to stay on track with leisure time. We are heading to SF today for the weekend, going to a giants game and to do some shopping. Hopefully lots of walking will pay for any poor choices I make. I am really going to try and stay close to program but I am not going to stress over it since it is my vacation time. The bad thing is I see Liz on Monday morning, I hope to not gain anything! I am kind of thinking of postponing my surgery for a while; I just dont want to be all messed up for my son's graduation and the night of graduation I am chaperoning a grad trip to disneyland and we are in disneyland from park opening to park closing and worried I wear out and not enjoy myself. I have been looking forward to this for so long I hate to give it up. I have to decide so I can talk to Liz on Monday. Trying to get these teenagers up and moving so we could take off but they are snoozing---they went to the midnight show last night of Clash of the Titans so they are tired but I want to get going to SF! All enjoy Easter and think positive! Lifes struggles are hard but with positive thoughts and support things will work out! Enjoy!
  23. What a great time I had Saturday; thanks everyone for making me feel welcome. Donna, your presentation was fabulous! I was thinking weird thoughts in my head when I saw the outfit you were wearing and I was thinking about what someone said last month about seeing yourself in the old way and not in the new body...I thought, Wow, Donna can't seem to drop the big clothes...lol jokes on us! Great job Donna. Laurel, you are impressive! You looked fantastic for being less than a week out of surgery and I am glad you came. Thanks so much for the clothes--love them all. John, wow 30 lbs is great. Your head is definately in the right place, I can tell just by talking to you. Keep it up..you are motiviating. It's great to have all of you for support. My life for the past 18 years has been my sons and I feel like finally I am at a point in my life where I can take care of me--and you guys are helping me with that! Thanks so much. Have a great week everyone!
  24. Way to go Ash! That is fantastic! Isn't it a great feeling to know that your hard work is getting you SO close to goal. Looking forward to meeting tomorrow!
  25. Hi everyone, I am so glad tomorrow if Friday; crazy week. Lee, I meet with Liz in 2 weeks and she will give me a date; I am going to request something around May 24th so that will still be a ways out. I just have so much going on that I want to schedule it at the right time. Doing it then will put me off through my son's graduation and my other son's football camp which would be great. Plus I have so much going on the next few weeks that it will help keep me busy and focused. I am excited. Sounds like you make great food choices...grilled shrimp and black beans sound delicious! Candra, I hope you can make it Saturday as it would be great to meet you but I understand that bad four letter word--WORK...lol Laurel, how you doing today? I watched that CNN piece and it was interesting. I thought it was weird that the young girl had the sleeve and the mom had the lap band... Oh, the head doctor was telling me she went to a seminar that talked about a new procedure that is under investigation that is a tube they suck out your stomach and makes a pouch (she explained it better than that). So WLS without any surgery at all. She said it will be a few more years before its used but it was looking very promising. Wouldn't that be great for those young adults? It's so hard to be an obsese kid. good night and happy friday.
