  1. I have to do a 10 day low carb, low fat, high Protein liquid diet. So far today I've had 100 oz of Water, 2 Protein shakes made with water and Protein powder, 1 container of sugar free Jello and some warm chicken broth. I'm starving and lacking energy and these shakes are so nasty:( I'm using Un Jury Protein but for supper tonight I'm going to try nectar instead and see if it's any better. It's gonna be a long 10 days here.
  2. Hmmm normally a stress test is done after an abnormal EKG or an abnormal 24 hour holter monitor. I wonder why your having to do one?
  3. I have acid reflux but I seem to have more heartburn when I'm nervous about something. When I'm nervous I will have heartburn no matter what I eat or don't eat and no matter what meds I take or don't take. It doesn't go away until the stressful event passes. I've had heartburn all day today and it doesn't seem like it's going away any time soon:( Is this going to affect my surgery in any way?
  4. bladder suspension. Here's the story. I have stress incontinence and dysfunctional uterine bleeding. In May I had uterine ablation but it really hasn't helped so my next step is to have my uterus removed. My Ob/Gyn would like to do it a few weeks after my Lap Band surgery. I also have stress incontinence. He said I can either get that fixed while he's in there or wait. He said if I lose the excess weight it may go away on it's own. So here's my question. Right now I'm at my out of pocket max for the year so my medical coverage is at 100% until December 31st. Would you go ahead with the bladder suspension or wait it out and see if the weight loss would help it? I will say that I got down to 170 once and I still had the incontinence at that weight.
  5. I see all these posts where people say they finally have restriction yet they have lost weight before getting restriction. Without restriction your still hungry right? Or am I wrong? Can you guys explain it to me please?
  6. I'm so with you! It's 100 degrees here to but I'm the only one sweating like a faucet. I'll be so glad to get this weight off.
  7. How would you know if you had a hiatal hernia? I don't think I do but I'm just curious. My reflux is worsened with stress so I always thought it was stress related.
  8. My cousin who was banded a few months ago has her port on the front of her belly below her rib cage. Another friend of mine who was banded 4 years ago has hers on her side- she says sometimes her pants rub it and it bothers hurt. She said I should ask to get mine on my belly under my ribs. so where is yours at??
  9. Hi Everyone I'm new here and I'm getting banded August 6th!! In the past I did Weight Watchers and I loved it except that I was hungry all the time. I thought about trying it again with my band though. Are you ladies counting points or doing Simply Filling? What is a typical day of eating like for you? I logged my food every day and I have 9 months worth of my daily menus written down but I'm thinking most of that stuff may not be Lap Band friendly. How are you all doing this?? Thanks!! Amanda
  10. That's a great Idea. I hadn't even thought of putting it in soup.
  11. I already have reflux and the doctor said losing weight will definitely help it. But I'm also reading that some people have reflux from their band. Why is that? Can anyone explain it to me?
  12. I'm looking for some good tasting or tasteless Protein powders for my pre op and post op period. My surgeon's office swears by Un Jury. They claim it tastes great. They gave me a sample of unflavored, vanilla, chocolate and chicken Soup. I haven't tried them yet. Any recs for some good tasting Protein powder?
  13. I'm confused about this too. I know 3 people who have had Lap Band. 2 of them still drink sodas and 1 of them does not.
  14. I'll definitely put those strips on my list. I love cinnamon but hate, hate, hate peppermint.
  15. It looks great to me! I'll be praying that you win your appeal. Sometimes with UHC it can as simple as getting one person that knows more than the other. I've had to appeal several simple things with them and they always granted my appeal and paid my claims. They seem to have a lot of reps there that don't really know all the rules.
  16. I didn't vote either but I feel it's a zero tolerance thing. IMO if he will bite once he'll do it again.
  17. Can we take the little gel pills or do I need some that's chewable?
  18. A few years ago I lost 50 pounds on Weight Watchers. My dh was very, very supportive of me once I started losing the weight. When I first started Weight Watchers though he was just indifferent I guess you could say. He sort of felt like this was just another diet and it wouldn't work either. Now, I told him a couple of months ago that I was considering Lap Band. He said if that's what I wanted to do he was behind me 100%. He also said he didn't care if I did it or not b/c he loves me just the way I am. That said, I was so excited to get the phone call saying I was approved. I'm excited every day now and totally looking forward to getting banded and getting this weight off for good. The thing is though my dh is not excited. He's not trying to talk me out of it or anything he's just not excited or optimistic about it. Do you think it's just b/c he thinks it won't work or what? I really wonder/worry what's going on in his mind. We've been married almost 13 years. When we started dating I weighed 115. I'm now at 225:(
  19. I started looking into it the last week of May and my surgery is set for August 6th. I was lucky and it only took 8 days for my insurance to approve me. Good Luck to you!
  20. My surgery is set for 8/6. I have had a few doubts but only a few. I know a lot of people who have had this done and they all tell me it was the best decision they've ever made. I see how much healthier they are and how much more energy they have and it really calms my fears.
  21. i saw in another thread that someone mentioned it hurts to eat with the band at first. Is that true for everyone? How bad is the pain and how long does it last?
  22. LOL I'd die from heat stroke living in sweats here. Seriously. That's another reason I'm glad about my upcoming surgery. It's so flipping hot in TX and being overweight just makes it that much worse.
