  1. Well I will say that I am hungry. I'd love a protein shake right now but my surgeon said not to start those until tomorrow.
  2. I normally would give anything for some quiet time to read, watch tv or play on the internet. My kids are with MIL and my dh is working and I'm just sitting around being totally totally bored. I took a nap when I got home yesterday and slept off my anesthesia. So I was up till 2 am this morning. Then back up at 8. I can't go to sleep and there's nothing to do. I never thought I'd hate recovery this much. I normally like to be lazy for awhile. LOL
  3. My insurance said the same thing. They said the blood pressure needed to be un controlled. Mine is controlled with meds and somehow they slipped me right on through anyway. Have you had a Sleep study done to check for Sleep Apnea? Have you had your cholesterol and tryglicerides checked? If not you need to. Sleep apnea is a good co morbidity to have.
  4. It gets better. If you stick with it and don't cheat by day 3 your hunger will go away completely.
  5. I thought I was the only one with that problem. I was in the bathroom so much last Sunday that I guess I got dehydrated or something. I almost passed out in my kitchen floor. I felt incredibly weak. I started taking Citrucel and it helped a lot.
  6. I was banded yesterday! SO glad to have surgery behind me:) The only pain I have is gain pain and it's mostly in my left side and my chest. Hopefully it will pass soon.
  7. I got banded yesterday. I've felt nauseous a couple of times but for me a cup of warm broth gets rid of it.
  8. I barely slept at all last night b/c I couldn't get comfortable. I've been walking and walking and taking Gas X but it feels like it's all built up on my left side. Can we use a heating pad or would that hurt the incisions some how?
  9. No I wasn't expecting to stay. They said it would be an outpatient thing I was just surprised that I got out so quickly. The only thing I've taken for pain is just liquid Motrin. My incisions well the ones I can see don't look bad. I have 5 total but 2 of them were still bleeding a little so they have pressure dressings on them. I get to take them off tomorrow and take a shower.
  10. Congratulations!!! I just had mine done today and I honestly don't feel too bad at all.
  11. I got a Scopolamine patch and Zofran b/c I throw up for hours on end after surgery. So far today I feel great. No nausea, no vomiting and I'm wide awake.
  12. I had mine done this morning. I haven't taken anything but liquid Motrin. All I have is gas pain. It's uncomfortable but not terrible. I've watched some tv, walked around a lot and played on my computer. I was actually relieved that it wasn't too bad.
  13. I got there at 6. They took me to the OR at 7 am and by 10am I was asking to go home:)
  14. Surgery went well and fast. The pain isn't bad at all. Mostly just gas pain and that's it. The nurse they assigned to me just had this done in June so she was able to put me at ease before I went to the OR. She used the same doc as me so she told me all about her experience and told me that the pain would be comparable to the pain I had from my gallbladder surgery-which wasn't bad/much. I'm home and resting up now. I'm so excited to have my band in:)
  15. Mine is outpatient. It was almost 1:30 before I was able to go to sleep last night. It's now 5:15 and we are about to head out. My blood pressure is up and so is my pulse. I'm really nervous this morning:(
  16. OMG. My surgery is in 7 hours. I have to be up in 5 hours and at the hospital in 6 hours and I CAN'T SLEEP!!! It's midnight and my mind is just whirling. Of course it didn't help that I took a 3 hour nap today.
  17. I did the diet part through my PCP and my insurance paid for it. I did pay $125 out of pocket for the nutritionist and another $100 for the psych eval.
  18. I would to. Do they have any other requirements? Are they going to make you prove that you've been 40 or over for so many months /years? If not I'd gain it.
  19. I started out using Bouillon cubes to make my broth and then I found this stuff by Orrington Farms. It's powdered stock mix. You mix 1 tsp with 1 cup of Water. It tastes much, much better and it's a little lower in sodium than bouillon. You can find it on the Soup aisle in a plastic jar. They have chicken, beef and ham. I use the ham all the time to make peas and Beans. I haven't used meat in my peas or beans in a year now and dh can't tell the difference. This is the first time I've tried the others though.
  20. Good Luck Melissa!! Dh is driving me to the hospital and his driving is well scary so I'm sure I'll have a great ride to the hospital. LOL
  21. Well I decided to just go to sleep instead. I took a 3 hour nap with my 4 month old. We both felt much better after that:) My hunger wasn't as bad when I woke up. I'm so excited for tomorrow!!
  22. I hope you get your approval quickly!!
  23. Thanks for thinking of me:) You've really helped me a lot and I SO appreciate it:)
  24. I went to Lufkin b/c of my kids. It makes it hard for me to find a sitter for all three of them for out of town appointments. When I went for my pre op on Tuesday the staff and the doctor were so nice and excited for me. I feel much better now using that practice. I'm scheduled for 7 am. I'll let you all know how it goes. I'm hoping smooth with no complications. I'm the first one for the day so unless an emergency comes up I shouldn't have to wait long. I'm happy with that!
