  1. Welcome Lena-- Bobbie--congrats on the job! Betsy--anxiously waiting on the BB too Karen--I love the dailyplate too, but I just will have to input the staples Leigha--I am a gadget person--so trying to resist an iPad when I just bought a new netbook Anne--hang in there on the pre-op Denise--hoping and praying things get better--I admire your attitude in dealing with it all Okay I know that is not everybody, but I haven't had time to catch up
  2. I have to agree with Betsy and Chrisdirects--I weigh daily, but I do not flip over every fluctuation. It helps me to monitor what I eat--when I eat too much sodium and not enough water, I gain, so weighing helps me to cut out somethings and workout!!!
  3. Doing good--have not had a second fill yet--coming next week--down 36lbs since surgery!
  4. No, I would not consider going back to the pre-op diet. The simple fact is it is not sustainable. I get well-balanced meals--I have learned to change the life-style and mindset about eating. The way I was eating on the pre-op diet was not "normal" so eventually I would have returned to my regular eating habits.
  5. Thanks for all the touches to the spreadsheet--I have been sorting it every now and then so names are in alphabetical order. Much to success--love challenges--even if you do not hit the mark, the success is in the trying:thumbup:
  6. I lost 8 1/2 of the 10lbs--I happy with that because I did not get my second fill--I have no restriction, so that 8lbs is all me.
  7. bumping the spreadsheet up for someone to try
  8. I have eyed the BB enough--I just ordered one to Leigha, Betsy, and Karen. I really need an accurate account of my workouts! BTW Betsy--how many times would you have to chew that "filet?" Having pain in my abdomen all day--only got relief from Darvocet, gas medicine, and a pepcid--not sure which one did the trick. What is this pain? Feel like cramps. Fyi--I took milk of magnesia Friday, so I pretty "empty" but I took the maxium dose--too much? Happy Mother's Day to each of you!
  9. Okay here is a spreadsheet. Anyone who is better, PLEASE fix it up or make a new one. http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AhyOQ0oN4zWhdHlVTWxORnd3c2l2SG5Fd2dQYV90M2c&hl=en Someone please let me know if it works!
  10. I am in and going to aim high and go for 20lbs, but I will be happy for 15lbs.
  11. Being still is important--does your scale record the weight?--I find trying to look down at the results can skew them--mine records so that I just look at after I weigh.
  12. I had to feel out a lot of surveys--then he talked about all the changes and life adjustments that would come and to be prepared mentally for those changes. You will be fine--they really are not there to get you turned down--it is more for your preparation if anything!
  13. I was a 10lb baby--I told my mother I didn't have a chance at skinny!! I have been overweight since I was child. My being fat is genetic and then the rest was me! My mom is morbidly obese, all of her siblings, and now all of my older sisters are overweight or obese. I was not taught to eat healthy and not encouraged to be active. I only ate three meals a day usually and was not a snacker, but when I did eat, a great deal of it was not the healthiest of choices. I was born in Brooklyn--after my first year after moving to NC, I went to being a chubby kid to just fat--by high school I was obese. In college I began to loose weight, but by my senior year--I had put it back on plus more. I have been yo-yoing ever since and every time I gain, I gained it back double. I decided, before I turned 40, I would no longer be obese and I am on my way with the band!
  14. Yes, I did--did you get a blood thinner for surgery--I was thnking it is probably a result of it
  15. I won't tell lol, Betsy, if you decide:wink2:. I have knee problems and much heavier than you, so though I am not on the couch, I probably do not need to dust my running shoes off yet--one day
  16. Have not weighed--will probably do so Wednesday--TOM struck--I gain 5-7lbs so no use stepping on that scale--I can tell from my swollen cankles--bring on the serious water retention:frown:
  17. Easy implies I have to do nothing at all--we all know we work at weightloss even if it is simply working on good choices. I did WW and lost--twice and twice gained the weight back and then some. WLS surgery is treatment--we do not tell critically ill patients like cancer not to seek the best care they can get. I saw morbid obsesity as critical and that it was time to get help. Call it easy or whatever you like, but what you want call me is obese one day.
  18. Welcome Bobkat! Leigha--too funny chicken soup smoothing--yuck! lol Sawyer, Betsy B and Leigha--admire your bravery for C25k. I want to try, but get this, I feel like I am too overweight to begin now--I think I need to be way smaller--just not ready for my rear end to be running its own marathon trailing behind the rest of me--I admit I am not yet that comfortable with my body, however slimmer it is now! LeeAnne--glad you are doing okay:thumbup: Christy--congrats on the weight loss--the band is crazy because I can't ever remember in my whole life where eating is a problem? Hope everyone is well and figuring this restriction thing out!
  19. 1. Stopping when my body says full--so hard to leave good food 2. Eating slowly 3. Not eating and drinking at the same time My hair is thinning--not bad in that it is noticeable, but getting thinner. I have always gotten 70-100 grams of Protein in a day, so as other posters have said, I am three months out and think my body is reacting to the surgery, I know it will come back. Taking Biotin and protein treatments to hair. Plus, women's hair in the family begins getting thinner around 40.
  20. I have to agree totally with Betsy--I was banded in January 2010--excluding 30lbs loss on the six month supervised and including, two weeks pre-op, and post-op, I am down 52lbs--with 1 fill and not alot of restriction. I am happy with every pound:biggrin:.I am actually grateful for not having restriction because I have had to reshape my thinking about the scale, eating when I am hungry and stopping when I am satisfied, and eating for nourishment and not emotions. Learning those things are 100 times more important than the number on the scale. Be very proud of your accomplishment.
  21. Hey soror:biggrin: I used Unjury all the time--the other poster is correct--I always put unflavored in something else to boost its protein--crystal light, Soups, chilli, etc!
  22. Congratulations for your loss, but most importantly the positive attitude about your band. I think you have captured what the journey is all about!
  23. It reallys is a good thread. I see so many people discouraged. This forum helped me a great deal before the surgery, so I was all prepared for my 3wk plateau after surgery--was it a little disappointing, sure, but I knew it was normal and to learn patience.
  24. I think that fact that you are reaching out is good step. Refocus is the key and some positive thinking. I think you have gotten some great advice in this thread--if you take on working on one piece of their advice a week and gradually adding on, you can get back on track. Begin with your protein--reduce some of your carbs to get in more protein one week. Then add trying to get at least 64oz Water the next two weeks. Then monitor your sodium by journaling and reducing that the next 2wks. Then try changing your exercise maybe some fun cardio like Zumba where you are dancing or another workout dvd. Dvd's are great because you can control the amount and pace you do them, so you build gradually. The one thing that you could try immediately is not to eat and drink at the same time--this is a no-no for most of us bandsters and makes you hungry faster and decrease feeling of being full. The 20lbs prove the success is in you!
