  1. Made one on whole-wheat pita today--very good.
  2. You may want to try egg foo young if they have it. Not the most healthy, but is very mushy with protein
  3. I actually take a vitamin by Opti-source you get at Walgreens--they are designed for bariatric patients. They are chewable and taste pretty much like an orange sweettart candy. I only have to take 2, 1 in the am, and 1 in the Pm. I also take a Vitamin D because I was diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency way before banding--it is not chewable, but small enough to get down. I am going to start B-12 so I can increase energy for workouts!!
  4. I have not had a fill yet, but I get the same pain in my chest and need to burp--I stop after that as well
  5. yes--never has 10 been a dress size and mind you 15 takes me to next size--tightly :w00t:
  6. Only 4 sizes--give yourself props--4 sizes is a big deal!!!:w00t:
  7. 1) Which of the things I've learned about how to use my tool work for you? having a plan 2) Which don't work for you? staying close to the surgeon--he has a lapband as well, but I actually rely more on his nurse for support who has had lap-band surgery but has gained weight back. I need to communicate with him more I suppose 3) Is there anything on this list that your surgeon would object to? There is nothing I think that my surgeon would object o
  8. For me, it used to be about 15 but with me loosing inches it has allowed me to get in some sizes without loosing 15
  9. Same here--love my immersion blender for pureeing Soup right in the bowl, making dips, etc. Use my blender/processor for everything else like shakes--my blender is also a food processor as well
  10. It is tempting to stray, but there is a reason they progress you--at some point you have to eat like a normal person. Your body with so few calories and weight loss is holding on to everything--mine did the same. Don't worry and try to force it to lose weight fast--you will start losing again.
  11. Oh--far as three weeks--I have called this morning before they even opened and left a message--waiting to hear back from them!!!
  12. Trust me I am very pushy--my surgeon was the one giving the fill--Thursdays is his surgery day because he does all his surgeries in a hospital in another town--they squeezed my fill-in between his surgery because obviously I was not trying to wait pass my six weeks. Until you experience the pain of that when your port is is awkwardly turned and deep , you would understand why at that moment I wanted to leave and not capable of walking to any radiology--it hurt more than the surgery pain-I slept on the couch. By that time, he used some term like it is starting to adeema? My guess is swelling around it--my stomach is so swollen to day on that side
  13. I went for my first fill--very glad it was here as you know how hard it is before the first fill--I have been summoning willpower from the heavens and have stuck to everything--no cheating. Although I knew I might achieve restriction this time around, at least I would be one fill closer. Well, I get there. My doctor uses an ultrasound to mark where the port is. He marks, numbs me and I am thinking so far so good. Well, the port was so deep and awkward to get to, he could not do the fill!:smile2: He poke and prodded and numbed me three times, but nothing but pain. I now have to go back in three weeks (would have been four weeks for a 2nd fill, so he moved it to three--geesh, thanks). He hopes with more weight loss it will pop up better or he will do it florouscopicly (sp?)I am so bummed out.
  14. Having experienced where my boss announced the surgery during a faculty meeting that I did not attend, I feel your pain of having to deal with different responses to the news...people do not understand it is a personal journey. However, you cannot change who knows, just how you deal with it. So, I try to use moments to educate people and when I don't want to talk about it--I don't.
  15. Congratulations!!!! As a person who, started out over 60, this is a great accomplishment. Working hard to be in the 40's by Easter.
  16. My doc said to drink decaf because of the stimulating hunger thing. I still go to Starbuck and ask for a caramel macchiato--decaf, nonfat milk, sugar-free caramel--I add a little splenda and half and half good and it actually took my appetite
  17. TOM and scale--no go:thumbdown:. It is the only thing that kills my daily weigh ins. I see those swollen ankles from water retention, and just say forget it!! My birth control pills lacks estrogen because my OB/GYN did not want me to gain weight and defeat the purpose of my band nor increase risk of blood clotting. So far no problems, but TOM came a week early last month--cramps are already severe, so I take Naproxen during that time
  18. For me, it was safer for pregnancy. Honestly my regular doctor referred me to my surgeon who specialty is lap band. Not a great deal of information on the gastric sleeve at first.
  19. I did--the first week, I was not hungry anyway. My next was pureed for two weeks, then soft solids/mushee. I was really scared not to truthfully
  20. sodas, even diet are on my list to avoid. I gave them up last summer, and I honestly do not miss them. Also if you have caffeine, my NUT says because it speeds digestion up and makes you hungrier soon.
  21. I too have to agree with that one as well...
  22. Please do not get frustrated--if you would search, you will find hundreds that went through the plateau soon after surgery including myself. I am 6wks post-op come Thursday--I plateaued around the second week and stayed the same until last week--I dropped 5lbs out of the blue. This week--no change. I get a fill Thursday and looking forward to hopefully getting a little restriction. Think about--you are doing it. You are managing to eat like you have restriction--that willpower is something to applaud in itself. I also guarantee you are losing inches!!!
  23. I agree with others--I try to do two shakes or 1 shake and some protein mix in pudding or yogurt. I get most of my daily protein doing that.
  24. Had that problem even before surgery--would go days, so I was really in pain last week--called the doctor who recommended a stool softener and MoM. I took 2 and drank MOM--let's just say the floodgates opened two hours later. I cut it to 1 softener and MOM and it was not as bad. I am going to take my cocktail tonight! I am glad you went to the doctor--that pain does become unbearable!!:frown:
