Blender vs Immersion Blender

I'm looking to buy one of these to help with creating yummy Protein drinks and frozen fruit smoothies ..before/after surgery.

Does anyone love one vs. the other??

I wasn't sure how well the Immersion Blender would do with ice..??

Thanks so much!

I like the regular blender or the magic bullet.

I have an immersion blender and it just doesn't seem to handle anything with much substance and it can be a mess.

I like the magic bullet but I think I like a regular blender better because of the amount it can hold.

Just my opinion.

I have both, and love both - but for very different uses. For what you're talking about, you want a regular blender. An Imersion blender won't do you much good.

I saw several recommendations on YouTube by banders for Hamilton Beach Single Serving Blender. I have no connection to this company My sister bought it for me for my birthday. Great price $15.

I have a Kitchen-Aid immersion blender and it has no problem with crushing ice but the counter top blender does it faster.

The immersion is a lot easier to clean though.

I have a Bamix immersion blender. This is my third in 30 years and it's a workhorse. I do everything with it from grinding coffee to making gravy on the stove and my favourite blueberry ice cream made with frozen blueberries, a bit of milk and a scoop of vanilla Protein powder. What I don't do much of is crush ice, mainly because I can't get my act together enough to keep ice made. It does do it, however.

My son recently bought his own regular blender. ( I didn't encourage this, I did not want more junk on the counter!). I find it noisy, space consuming and a pain to clean compared to the Bamix.

So for me, a Bamix is it, hands down. I don't know about the new Kitchenaid immersion blender, but I would not waste money on those other piece of crap brands.

I see that Gordon Ramsey is endorsing the Bamix now.

My cusinart immersion chops and blends the heck out of ice.. Use it everyday and it's soooo easy to clean..

I use a Magic Bullet. I have an immersion blender, but it doesn't blend ice in well. For just frothing stuff, it's fine--but I prefer the bullet.

Same here--love my immersion blender for pureeing Soup right in the bowl, making dips, etc. Use my blender/processor for everything else like shakes--my blender is also a food processor as well

True.. Not all immersions are equal but I have a slushy chocolate peanut butter protein drink every morning and it's fast and with only 2 pieces it's a quick clean... I have never used a blender.. I bought my Cusinart for 48.00 on Amazon... I was suprised how heavy duty it was...

I have and use a Magic Bullet, an immersion blender and a VitaMix blender.

The VitaMix is great for large quantity drinks/smoothies and to make Soups from scratch.

The Magic Bullet is excellent for ice crushed drinks.

I like the immersion blender for frothing drinks or mixing puddings.
