  1. I would say I really appreciate this--do you mind if I share these treats? Then pass them out until they are gone or say I am watching what I eat or you don't want to spoil your appetite... Hey and if you do not feel like lying--do what I do take one and as soon as I can, throw it away!!
  2. I posted how my principal announced it at a faculty meeting!!
  3. Love it--I use that one a lot! My mom, who is heavy mind you, everytime I was around all her conversation was about my weight. My sister finally said, you know people deal with their faults everyday--the last thing they need is to be reminded of them! Though my mother was doing that because she does not want me to end up like her with all those health problems, when she heard that, she found better ways to express her concern!
  4. I would get one, I had become a little obsessed weighing two or three times a day--my second week post-op I had stalled. I tried to get my hubby to hide it and he just smiled and said, "In one month alone, you have lost thirty pounds--stay off the scale and feel good about that." I said he is right, so I have not weighed in days. Once a week will be good enough!
  5. Mine growls quite bit--I know I am hungry when it is longer and more intense. I have stopped being embarassed about it--I figure I could be passing gas--I rather growl:biggrin:
  6. I have this experience after my gall bladder surgery and it would occur usually if I skipped out on breakfast or if the first thing I would eat was too greasy, salty etc. With the surgery, I suffer constipation some but no diarrhea
  7. I am on pureed--no chunks or chewing yet, so whatever I puree, has to consistency of mashed potatoes, apple sauce or sugar-free pudding. I now add some frozen bananas and strawberries to shakesand blend well. Those sugar-free syrups also help given them different flavors. I also did the creamy chicken soup--also pureed Hormel turkey chilli until it was mush. That and mashed potatoes (had to thin those out as I had trouble getting them down) have been the most satisfying. Also got a recipe for a sweet potato custard. I avoid soups with pasta and rice. I have not eaten cream of wheat or oatmeal, either. Sunday I transition to soft/mushie--I cannot wait to chew.
  8. I had to make it a regiment and it has gotten easier as other posters said as the days since the surgery has progressed--I have to be at work at 7am and have a 30 min commute. As as I wake up, I begin sipping so by 7:00 I am finish a 20oz bottle--I then eat my breakfast at work around 8:00am--about 30-45 min I begin sipping on another bottle to be finished by that by 10:00 in case I want to eat a snack. I then sip some more until 45 min to my lunch--I then sip so more. Now because I work as an assistant principal, my day does not always flow like that:biggrin:--so I grab that bottle wherever I go. If that happens I drink alot more after-school and on the way home and later that evening especially if "head hunger" happens.
  9. I am exactly the same way--not a huge fish eater, and do not like the "fishy taste" if I do eat fish. Here is a link to a couple of recipes that I liked: http://www.lap-band-surgery-site.com/weight-loss-surgery-recipes.html Also in the store--I picked up a grill marinade where you just add oil and marinate the fish--So good!
  10. I paid almost $5 for a small tub, but it was organic! Expensive, but I invested in it because 1 cup of it was 23 grams of protein!
  11. Thanks I am not a breakfast eater and the only egg I can tolerate is an omelette with a bunch of stuff in it or deviled eggs. My nutritionist was saying the same thing that when I move to solids that is just what I need to eat. I am not morning person, so whipping a shake up is easier than cooking an omelette everyday!
  12. Okay, I am a scale whore--I am determined not to weigh myself anymore for the remainder of the week.
  13. I am glad you posted this thread. My family and I cruise every year--going in October. I was wondering how cruising would be. On last year's cruise, I managed not to gain like usual, so maybe with the band, I can loose some pounds.
  14. We are both exactly a week post-op today--my shoulder pain pretty much stopped two days ago. I took the Gas X, but walking, as everyone else has stated, helped the most.
  15. Good for you--one week post op today--another week of liquids. I can do this, right:thumbup:
  16. I had surgery yesterday. I have been in very little pain, except for gas, and I have been walking and taking gas X. Port is area is sore, but certainly not painful. I am so glad I went through with the surgery (just burped, excused me, but burping aloud excites me:biggrin:) and made it through pre-op. I am a bandster and loving it. Thank you to everyone on this site. I was not even really nervous because of all the information that was shared. To those who have not had the surgery, it really is smooth as it sounds.
  17. My surgery was 6am--I arrived at 5:30 and not a single person there:confused: Finally about 5:45am, people started coming in including the lady that would admit me. She told me to wait in the outpatient lobby, and that once she had the list, she would call us one by one (there where other patients waiting for other outpatient surgeries). To my delight, I was number one. Once back, I changed into a gown. Getting the IV in proved the hardest thing about the surgery. My tiny veins rolled--the nurses stuck me 5 times and nothing. The anesthesiologist end up finding something in arm to work with--he said right before surgery they would find a better one. They gave me the happy juice so I dozed a few minutes Anyway, I was whisked to the holding room, and switched to the operating table. I remember the mask and then waking up! The doctor came over and I think he said the surgery went good, then he went to talk to my husband I guess. I told the nurse the it felt like an elephant was on my chest and I was a littled nauseated, she gave me something because I woke back up in my roomAt 12:55--I felt great, so I asked to get up and walk. No pain. I was surprised how I really didn't feel anything. After I came back, that took me to do the barium swallow. I did get some pain medicine after that just because getting up and down the bed made me a little sore, but not much. Around 2pm--they said I was doing so well I could go home. It was good day--everything went pretty smooth:smile2:
  18. Just wanted to wish everyone much success and praying for a smooth surgery on tomorrow.
  19. I had planned to tell them immediately when I got back--but I am upset that I was not allowed this choice. I had told some who I knew were very supportive and already educated about the surgery. For the most part, everyone else he told, they have been supportive and stating they will be praying for me--as I said in my previous post, I am not even worrying about anyone but myself and the surgery tomorrow now and the new beginning--closing that chapter:)
  20. That's exactly how I feel--so violated:mad: I had already had the idea of using my mouthpiece--so I started that bug going while I will be gone:rolleyes2:
  21. Thanks everyone. Unfortunately I will not see him to well after the surgery as he is not going to be here and rather share my concern in person. FYI it is a he (though most times he acts like a she lol). I feel it was deliberate, call it crazy, it was definitely deliberate for some reason and not just a slip. I do not know probably to make the staff feel sorry for him while I am out, jealousy (he is not slim and trim himself lol), or since we are a family kind of staff that is was just like sharing with the family? The staff is great and some of them have already sensed that it is a private issue and have not even brought up the subject. Those who have have been very supportive except for one who look at me like I was going to die--I finally asked her why are you looking like that--she said well it is surgery and saying good luck just seems silly. Nevertheless, it's about me tomorrow so let them talk:)
  22. I am very upset. I work at an elementary school as an assistant principal. I did not attend the last faculty meeting. Well thanks to a wonderful teacher assistant who thought I should know, apparently my principal announces to the entire staff that I am having Lap-Band surgery tomorrow. Now, it is not that a few did not know, but I chose whom I wanted to tell. Now everyone knows. The only reason why I did not want the entire staff to know is because I do not what everyone becoming the food police--watching what I eat and monitoring my weight loss. I am also extremely tired of people asking how much weight have I lost already. It makes me focus on the scale. This surgery for me, like everyone else, is not just about pounds. I want to send out an email asking that I really do not want to have conversations about it and that is an incredibly personal journey for me. I am very professional and rarely bring personal issues to work. Should I send an email or my my own announcement at the next meeting or just leave it alone?
  23. Yes headaches and sometimes just drained of energy
  24. Hang in there with those clear liquids:thumbup: I am planning to take a week from work, but I have told my job that it may be the following week as well.
  25. Hi, there are quite a few of us having it this day. Here is the link(ignore the 2009, it is Jan 14th 2010) http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f84/january-14-2009-bandsters-where-you-107383/ You might also want to go to the post-op forum and look for the surgery day stories thread--hundreds of stories about what they went through on their surgery day--VERY HELPFUL
