    Protein shakes / heavy metals

Here is the breakdown.... I drink EAS Myolplex Lite and it is not listed..so I am still not sure. Here are the average amounts of metals we found in three servings of these Protein drinks. The maximum limits for them in dietary supplements proposed by the U.S. Pharmacopeia are: arsenic (inorganic), 15 micrograms (µg) per day; cadmium, 5 µg; lead, 10 µg; mercury, 15 µg. Amounts at or exceeding those limits are in bold. Experts said three servings a day is common.

    Protein shakes / heavy metals

I drink Myolplex lite everyday..I am meeting with my surgeon next week for my normal check up and will see what his thoughts are about this. Not sure what I will do since I am addicted to it now. Never tried the muscle milk for fear of another addiction.

    Horray!

Bklynike as I have mentioned I have put all kinds of things in my magic bullet. It may not look all that pretty went it comes out..but ahh that taste is so so good!!! When I get my fills my doctor is very strick. 2 days of liquids, 2 days of shakes and 2 days of puree and then solids...so it is like starting over each time regardless of how big or small the fill is so I use that bullet quite a bit!! I am so happy to hear that you are on foods and of course the 10 lbs!! you are doing very well!!!!

    Advice...

You summed it up perfectly already. You will be fine..the eating part will be the only thing different. At two weeks out you will just be ending the mushies and beginning the solids stage. You will need to be very careful other than that you will be doing fine! I was banded on the Monday before thanksgiving and on Thursday I had 40 people at my house for Thanksgiving dinner without a problem..seriously no problems at all.

I just got my day for surgery

I agree with crsti..you should be fine. My son just turned 3 so my only limitations was carrying him. He is 37 lbs so I couldn't carry him for a month other than that yeah I was fine within a week. Yes the first day or two are not the best but after that you will be fine..just walk as soon as you can. The more you walk the better you will feel. It will help you relieve the gas. Just don't over do it. I love your name...remember that and it will take you far!! and congrats on your baby girl!! I wish you the very best!!

    Support Issues

Bummer! Do you have any local support groups you can attend? I absolutely love the Lap Band Talk but I also have a local group that meets once a month and there is a nutritionist that runs the meeting. I personally look at it as a lifestyle change and look at what I am eating..strive for 60-70 grams of protein per day, 64 ounces of fluids per day. I don't eat out a whole lot so I do most of my own cooking so I know what I am eating. I average about 1000 cal a day. I have been at my sweet spot for a while now..I eat about 3/4 to a cup of food at each meal. I don't care for breakfast foods and never have so I always have a protein shake for breakfast. I am not sure if any of this helps or not..if you have any specific questions I would be happy to help!

    Diet Recipes

Knapp..you can go to BariatricEating.com - BE, Inc. The number one bariatric website for protein, vitamins, and success. they have a section on pureed and I believe liquid as well. For me I have a magic bullet and basically anything that I can put in it I pureed. I may not of looked at it for appearance..just taste..for example chili may not look all that great pureed but it still tastes like chili!! Hope that helps some..

The best thing you can take from that appt is just what he said..he is there to help you and PLEASE do not forget that no matter what is going on..regardless if you lose weight or gain it. on my way to an thinner me

That was kind of my concern...shouldn't the pre-op include shakes and/or a low calorie dinner. My pre-op was THREE shakes a day ONLY..no FOOD at all for 14 days. I would have all the water I wanted though... Don't mean to be critical tommygunn but if you are following your dr's directions keep on trucking!!

    Second Fill

Always remember you can get tiny fills...like .25ccs or .5's..you do not have to get 1 ccs and higher..and the same when you get the unfill..just a little taken out makes a huge difference!!! I wish you both the best!

I cheathed on my post op diet and feel really bad.

Skinnygal..what you did is what you said..not right. However, your band is in its healing stage so there isn't any saline in it right now and that is why you don't have any restriction. You may or may not feel any restriction after the first fill either. It takes a couple of fills before you have really good restriction. PLEASE do not beat yourself up any more than you have already done. That was yesterday and you have already turned the leaf over and you are back on the wagon. It is in the past now you need to go forward. We didn't get in this shape over night, we have to learn. I think you have recommitted to your plan and you probably will do much better. The first month is called "bandster hell" for a reason. It is not fun. Stay positive and true to yourself. You are doing really well!! I wish you the very best on your journey!!

    Advice please....

Oh I drink the EAS Myoplex Light shakes..absolutely love them!! Just like chocolate milk.
  23. Hey I was just reading this article and thought about you...it was about being light headed, dizzy or cramping when just starting the "5 day pouch diet" which is similar to what we go thru when we get a fill..clear liquids, shakes and mushies. Well it said that you can eat a small piece of melon or orange. You can also take a dosage of Emergen-C. They explain that it is a carbohydrate withdrawal..vs a sugar withdrawal?? I don't know just thought I would pass on the info.

The First Fill and the "Gentle Reminder"

Sandradee you may need to watch all breads from now on. A lot of times once you get to a certain fill level you can no longer have bread..it will get stuck each time. Also, putting my fork down in between bites helped me wait in between bites. Just my two cents for the day. Hope you have a wonderful one!
