  1. When I had my first fill ( to 5cc) I felt a tightness in my belly. When I had my second fill ( to 5.75cc) I FELT it right away. I had the lump in my throat and felt full quickly. Not alot of hunger pains. After 3 weeks it wore off..and I was hungry again. I had my hird fill yesterday (.5cc up to 6.25cc) and I feel NOTHING. I am hungry, very hungry...did I mention hungry. I ate like 7 times today ( Protein protein) and I still want to get something to eat. Is it weird to feel nothing right after a fill???
  2. Hi! I am only 3 months in so I don't want to advise on the fill. However, I can suggest something that really worked for me. I used to be really hungry like you...and then I realized I was eating way too early in the morning. Now I do this: 6am up for day 7am coffee 9am Greek Yogurt with Special K flakes 130pm Turkey Chili with a side of cottage cheese 600pm dinner Just delaying my first bite by a few hours really sets the tone of the day---I am not hungry. If I eat *anything* including a Protein shake before 9am I will be starving the rest of the day. And The more protein the better... your doing great though!
  3. Congrats Cathy! So happy it went well and you are on the road to success!
  4. 2 months into this and I am still fighting the clock. I haven't figured out how to eat when I am hungry....verses when the clock tells me to. I am still thinking I "have" to eat lunch at 1200 but I just had breakfast at 8ish. So....what's your daily routine??? When do you eat? How do you retrain your brain?
  5. I have no clue what to say... I have minimum restriction with 5cc in a 10cc band. I can go 3 hours max without getting hungry. What I have been doing is portioning out my meals for the day in the tiny 1/2 cup glad containers ( 1/2 full) I take 4-6 containers to work. I am trying to eat 3 meals a day but there are some days when I can't and I eat every 3 hours. But at the end of the work day---it's the same amount of food. I also try not to eat anything until 830am. I drink Water until then ( sometimes warmed up with lemon juice) Good Luck!
  6. woohoo!! I made it under the 40 mark today too! It feels so dang good!
  7. Last week I was listening to some motivational cds and heard a statement that I was kinda shocked to hear. Friends and Family will try to sabotage your weight loss efforts. I thought that was kinda weird...but then I started noticing things and it turns out...that statement is true. For the most part, people in my life are very supportive. Skinny people, Fat people, regular every day people. People ask for updates, high fives, or want to know the secret to my success. One friend tells me every day how much exercising she did the night before and holds me accountable to keep up with her. My boss is always quick to remove sweets from my eye sight ( even though I have told her I don't crave the junk any more.) But other people...not so supportive. It's like everyone has a role to play...and my role is that of a fat person. I don't see why my dedication to a better lifestyle is intimidating to others... This one person....she is quick to compare my 35 pound weight loss to her need to lose 3 pounds to fit into her size 0 jeans. She can't just be happy for me....she has to tell me how fat SHE is....every time I see her. Another girl-- complimented my hair several days. When I told her my hair is the same I had just lost some weight she said oh...she hadn't noticed. When I told her how much...she looked at me with disgust and said...I can't imagine needing to lose 35 pounds. Even my fat friends are treating me like I deserted them on a island. Every day, one person comes in with baked sweets and tries to tempt me. When I say-- no thanks-- she gets ticked and acts like I am saying I am too good for that. Another person criticizes everything I eat...as if I am starving myself or on a fad diet. It's really weird....but I am not about to stay the way I am to make others feel better about themselves.
  8. So......two things have showed up in the last week. 1. My throat is soooooo dry. I thought I was getting sick but I haven't but I feel like I have sand paper in my throat. No matter how much I drink--I can't get moist back there. It isn't acid like---is this something I should worry about?? 2. My DH told me yesterday I sometimes have bad breath. We have been together for 11 years so this is a new thing since the band. Is there anything I can do for that?
  9. I am just 5 weeks post op and I am coming down with a cold. I have liquid Tylenol and I have tolerated the pills if cut up... what cold meds are okay to take? do I have to stay away from Ibuprofen forever?
  10. sweet!! thank you.....I am so excited to be almost below 40. the little things......the little things!
  11. So I am 5 ft 4 and a half inches. All of the calculators I can find only do whole inches. Do I round up to 5 ft 5? Do I round down to 5 ft 4??
  12. Hi ya'll-- I was banded 3.5 weeks ago. I have a 10cc band and my doc put 4cc in it from day one. I have not had any problems whatsoever. I can drink fine--- have from day one. I can eat small portions of the right foods ( haven't attempted the wrong ones) and I get an ache in the pit of my stomach so I stop. I am getting plenty of Protein and Water and I am exercising daily. I get hungry somedays but if I eat a few bites of hummus or cottage cheese or a cheese stick I am fine. I have lost 11 lbs since my surgery---the first week was about 4 lbs and then started slowing down. The only major difference I am seeing in how I feel is I keep burping alot......in fact I have forgotten a few times about the band totally. I just keep wondering about bandster hell--- is this it or am i just lucky so far?? Would having 4cc from the get go change my experience?? Do you think I will end up getting a fill at the 6 week mark or are things progressing fine?
  13. Pre surgery--I went to the bathroom alot. My motto was "pee before you go". Now--- I only feel like I have to go 3 or 4 times a day. Yesterday, it was 1pm before I needed to take a walk. Is this normal? I am drinking all day long ( except with meals)
  14. I was recently banded but it is starting to show. Very few people know because I am a private person. I have a very honest answer when asked: I modified my lifestyle. No need to go into details---I'm not lying. Congratulations on your success!!!
  15. Just Breathe--- we had surgery the same day and I had the really bad back pains too. I went to the mall and found one of those chair massage places. I paid $20 for 20 minutes and the girl worked major wonders on my back and shoulders. It was amazing and I feel so much better. squeezie--- I don't know what to suggest for you. have you talked to your doctor?
  16. I am 9 days out.....tomorrow I get to start mushies and soft foods. I have seen the list: cottage cheese Hummus greek yogurt refried Beans Scambled eggs does anyone have any "meal" like tips? We are having company tomorrow night and they do not know I am banded. I am trying to think of something that we can serve that will also feed me without calling attention to myself. In hindsight I would not have hosted so soon after being banded...but this was planned before I got my date.
  17. I had my surgery the same day as you. I have been on full liquids since Monday and I can move to soft foods on Saturday. I haven't been hungry at all yet---in fact the times my tummy rumbled I think it was telling me I was full. I do have 4cc in a 10cc band though so that may be making a huge difference. I am also eating/ drinking 60grams of Protein a day. I use unjury mix. it's 20g protein per scoop. I use the chocolate as a shake in wtr/ milk and the unflavored mixes in great with soup or Water drinks. The chicken flavored is awesome as a broth. I also use the protein bullets----26g I drank one yesterday---8 sips---it wasn't that bad--not that great but it got the protein in.
  18. My first experience was with Dr Enochs office...I watched the seminar online and submited my information. I waited and waited. I called....left a message...and waited. Finally got a call back and was told it would be 3-4 days to verify my insurance even though I already had the information from them. I finally got a call 12 days later. By that time, I had researched other Doctors, gone to a seminar, been verified and had my first appt with Dr. Moran's office. I am 100% satisfied with the staff at Dr. Moran's office---they return calls within the day ( usually within the hour) I feel educated and relaxed about this process. I am really glad I switched over....
  19. I was banded last week and was told nothing over 10lbs for 6 weeks. A mother of a baby was at my seminar and they suggested waiting until the child did not need to be held as often.
  20. I was banded the same day as you: My doc sai gas pains can stick arounnd for several weeks.....burping, farting, and walking helps get it out. He suggested the gas strips if needed. My doc told me to cut/crush all medication that was larger than a pinky finger nail---remember the LARGE STRAW theory. Good Luck with everything....make sure you stay hydrated.
  21. I was banded a few days ago. I have told few people but have a great support team. My DH 2 good friends at work to keep me accountable and will know in case of a random emergency 2 other friends--one has the band and was my buddy--the other is starting the process My parents, boss, inlaws do not know. At this point I dont want to be on display or held accountable to someone eles idea of where I should be. I figure as time goes by I may tell more people----but I can't "untell" someone so for now it's a secret ( a good! secret)
  22. I am 2 day post op too. I am having no problems with getting my liquids in---I am rotating Water, popsicles, Jello and broth. Over the course of the day I ate 5 popsicles and 3 of those jello cups. I took my last dose of meds at midnight last night and I haven't needed anything else. We went for a .50 walk this afternoon. I don't know if this helps you---but i sounds like we are having similar experiences.
  23. Wooohhhhooooo Just got a call.....they moved my surgery up!! I have to be there at 11:30 and go time is 1:30. I am so very excited......dh jumped my bones since it's the last action he will get for a while. That made my day too!!
  24. I was only supposed to do the 2 day diet of liquids but when I decided to do a 3rd to flush out the junk I ate over thanksgiving. I am hoping to get bumped up...they said if anyone cancels I can be moved into their slot... the anisetologist said I could have water until 9am but I may do the midnight or 3am thing to be on the safe side. This hasn't been too bad...I just had the Unjury chicken soup for dinner with some lima beans thrown in---it was pretty tasty.
  25. Can I jump on this BANDwagon?? I have been lurking alot but hesitated to post because I thought something would happen to dash my hopes and dreams. I had my pre-op on December 22 and I am being banded on December 30!!! Woohoo!! Today is Day Two of a 3-day liquid diet....I am doing surprisingly well. My surgery isn't until 3:50pm in the afternoon....has anyone had to deal with that??
