I live in rockymount nc and will be having surgery at the new nash surgical center by a Dr Christian Mann who works in Greenville NC and comes to Rocky Mount 8 days a month to perform these surgeries. All I have left to do is get my thyroid level normal and then meet with my surgeon to set a date. All appts ae complete.

Because when the employer is reviewing which type of plan to take for their empoyees the insurance company ask if you want certain benefits to be covered under your group policy. Depending on what the insurance company covers will decide your companies premiums.

Really that is amazing why so long? Did you not feel hungry? I would think even though you don't have the band real tight if you eat food that stays in the top portion of the band it should make you feel feel longer and you still lose weight but i am hearing no it does not work like that.

I know i feel the same way. Mu husband is having the bypass and he can not understand me being excited about surgery. I just know it is the start of a better life.

WELL I SHOULD BE A JANUARY BANSTER I HAVE BEEN TO ALL OF MY APPTS EXCEPT MY MEETING WITH THE SURGEON THAT WILL BE IN A WEEK OR SO. THE ONLY THING I NEED TO DO BEFORE SUBMITTING TO INSURANCE IS TO GET MY THYROID LEVEL NORMAL AGAIN.:thumbup: I HAVE HAD A THYROID PROBLEM FOR YEARS. I STOPPED TALKING ALL MY MEDS BEFORE I HAD MY ENDOSCOPY JUST TO BE SURE IT WOULD NOT CAUSE A PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY TOLD ME NOT TO TAKE ANYTHING WITH ASPRIN BY STOPPING MY THYROID MEDICINES THIS CAUSED MY THYROID LEVELS TO BE TO HIGH. I WILL HAVE THIS RETESTED IN ABOUT 3 WEEKS AS SOON AS WE GET IT BACK DOWN WE WILL SUBMIT TO INSURANCE. I AM PRETTY SURE WE WILL BE ABLE TO GET EVERY THING COMPLETED AND I WILL BE BANDED IN EARLY JANUARY. YEAH I AM SO EXCITED AND CAN'T WAIT TO START MY NEW LLIFE.

yes i am having this problem because i have to keep my bmi where it is it is only 3 numbers higher than the minimum so if i lose 20 pounds my bmi would drop belopw 40 so i can not lose any weight until i meet with my surgeon in 2 weeks. this has given me permission to eat what i wont and i am gaining weight at least 5 pounds in 3 weeks.

which ins do you have? I have bcbs of nc and I have heard they are pretty easy

I also have told about 10 people where i work. My thing is i had to tell my boss that i was going to have multiple dr appts and need time off for those and then to let her know i would need to take some vacation to recover. If people act like they do not agree with it which i have not seen yet i will just say you are correct it is not right for everyone but for me i feel it is the only decision.

they just wish they had the courage to do what you are doing but don't and they are jelous because once you are not the biggest anymore someone else has to take that title

I HAVE HAD A THYROID PROBLEM FOR 10 OR MORE YEARS AND HAVE BEEN ON A THYROID REPLACEMENT MEDICINE. THIS HAS KEPT MY LEVELS NORMAL WELL FOR THE PAST 1 YEAR OR MORE I HAVE NOT TAKEN ANY OF MY MEDCINE ON THE WEEKENDS MAINLY BECAUSE I LEAVE IT AT WORK IN MY DESK DRAWER. WELL ANYWAY I HAD SOME LABS DONE THE OTHER DAY AND MY THYROID CAME BACK A 12 AND SHOULD BE BETWEEN 0-3. WELL NOW I HAVE TO TAKE MY MEDS DAILY FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND THEN HAVE IT TESTED AGAIN. I AM BUMMED I SO HOPE IT WILL ONLY TAKE AT THE LONGEST A MONTH TO GET THIS CORRECTED. I ONLY HAVE ONE MORE APPOINTMENT AND IT WILL BE TIME TO SUBMIT TO INSURANCE FOR APPROVAL. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IF MY THYROID IS OFF THEY WILL DENY ME. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM PLEASE LET ME KNOW.:thumbup:

You can wear ankle weights under your pants that will give you the extra 10 pounds you would need.

Hand in there what should happen will just think how much closer you are now than you were. It will happen i am overly excited also i have my last appt next wednesday then meet with my surgeon.

:tt2:NEXT WEDNESDAY WILL BE MY LASP APPT. THEN WHEN THE RESULTS GET BACK TO THE COORDINATOR THEY WILL CALL WITH MY APPT WITH THE SURGEON. AT THIS APPT THEY WILL SET MY DATE. THINGS ARE FINALLY MOVING ALONE. MY ONLY WORRY IS NOT BEING ABLE TO DRINK WITH MEALS. HOW HARD WAS THIS TO GET USE TO.:tongue2:

I also have bcbs but of nc I am also hoping to have my surgery in jan 2010. i have my ultra sound of the gallbladder and my cardiac appt left and then meet with the surgeon. hope to stay in touch

1.band is a lot less dangous than bypass 2. bypass people always seem to have that hollowed out look in the face like they are sick 3.the band has a much quicker recovery time 4.the band does not have the risk of vitamin deficices 5. can be reversed

My doctor only requests 1 week of atkins type diet low carbs is the key to shrinking the liver. I have a bmi of 43 so i know it is not because i am not that over weight that he is not requring liquid diet. Not sure why some docs request liquids and others do not.

Oh i am very sure about what i want. I have ben doing research for a few hours each night and i know a few people that have had it done so i am ready. I just was not sure how many appts i would need. Thanks

Thanks i am so excited. I think it will be a few months but i can wait. It will be so worth it.

I have bcbs of nc i have to pay a 1000.00 deductible and 20%. Also 200.00 to the pysch appt and 100.00 to the dietician. Not trying to scare you but you should reallt call your insurance and ask them so you will know what to expect.
