  1. My plan is: Day 1-5 clear liquids Day 6-15 or 16 full liquids Day 15 to 24 pureed foods My NUT is calling me today and I hope she'll advance me to purees by the end of the week. YUM! We're one day apart on surgery dates.
  2. I don't know why they change so much. Sweet things taste so much sweeter. After drinking a protein shake (like I just did), I have this sticky sweet taste in my mouth for hours. YUCK.
  3. I think you're doing an awesome job. I bet if you just keep doing what you're doing, you'll be at goal before you know it. Maybe on the weekends you can walk a little longer? I find that I lose better when I can up the exercise a little. I'm still at the one mile a day point but hope to up it to two miles in the next few weeks. Take pride in all the things you're doing to improve your health. You deserve big kudos for that!
  4. Chancie, I don't know how I missed your post the other day. What a remarkable journey you've had in the last year. You look stunning and vibrant and happy! I'm so inspired by your story and the work you've put into getting where you are today.
  5. Hi Tonya, You have a lot going on right now. I wonder if you switched to Protein shakes for a couple of days if the feeling would go away. I had my gallbladder out in November and tolerate meat just fine. I was eating steaks a few weeks later. Do you think any of this might have to do with anxiety about your surgery? It doesn't seem like a trip to your PCP would hurt anything. I'd tell your surgeon about your gum, but I bed they'd see it anyhow. It's probably in the part of your stomach that will be cut away. I've never heard of gum staying for 5 years. Good luck and I hope you find something that comforts you so you can relax before surgery.
  6. Hi, I would say, don't stock up on too much for post-op. Your tastes may really change. When I went to full liquids, I had violent runs for 5 days until I figured out that it was the Whey Protein doing it to me. I tried the Jarrow brand Rice Protein Powder from Whole Foods this week. It was vile and I was so happy they let me return it yesterday. I like Jay Robb but haven't tried the egg white protein as I'm allergic to eggs. Vitalady.com is from Obesityhelp website. You can go to her website and buy individual sample sizes of lots of different protein powders.
  7. Lynda, I'm doing the Happy Dance with you as we count down to your surgery. I'm so excited for you to be on the Loser's Bench with us!!
  8. Hi Barbara, I've read that 5-10 pounds a month is usual after Sleeve surgery, so you seem to be right on track. At 7 pounds a month you'd lose your weight in 11 months. How cool would that be? I bet there will be months when you'll lose more than that. Your fat looks a little high to me for the calories you're eating. What are your fat sources? I look to the Cornell guide for calories, carbs and Protein but they don't talk about fat. I'm still really new post-op, today starts week 3 for me. Still on full liquids. My fat yesterday was 7 grams with 417 calories. I bet my fat will also go up on pureed foods. Cornell Guide: Weeks 3 - 3 months (Soft Foods): Total Cal: 600-800 Total Carbs: <40 Total Protein: 70 - 90 3 - 12 months (Regular Food): Tota Cal: <800 Total Carbs: <40 Total Protein: 70 - 90 I know some of the more experiences Sleevers will chime in with advice for you. I think you're doing great!
  9. You look awesome! And even more inspiring than your pic is watching your BMI take a nosedive. You've lost 42 pounds!! What a great job you're doing with your sleeve.
  10. Wow Mini... simply awesome! I can't wait to hit the one month mark and measure!
  11. I see a lot of people on Obesityhelp.com rave about this for when they need to outsmart the carb monster. Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test
  12. Welcome to VST. I too found this website through lapbandtalk. What a lucky day that was for me!
  13. Heather, you look so adorable. What a difference a year makes!! Maria, good luck with your fill and with your interview. That's so exciting. It sounds like everyone is doing really well. How cool is that! John, tomorrow is two weeks for us. Can you believe it! My energy is good. Yesterday while out for my walk I ended up walking to my office and working for the afternoon. I'm going to work this afternoon as well in the office and home right now. I'm feeling great in my body but already seeing signs of loose skin. Oh well. I did this for body and heart health not for vanity.... right? Enjoy the raining day everyone!
  14. I too have a 40f. I didn't suffer with nausea post-op and was getting in 20 oz of fluids on day 2. By day 5 I was up to 64 oz of water and herbal tea. I can drink 16 oz of warm tea in just a few minutes. Everything goes down easily. I get full quickly on dense foods like yogurt. Tomorrow is my two week mark and I'm down 13 pounds. I love my 40f!
  15. You look absolutely stunning. You'll be such a gorgeous bride. Congratulations on all your success in working your Sleeve!
  16. Laura, look at that beautiful 216 on your ticker. Your weight loss has been incredible. The great thing about our Sleeves is that we know we'll continue to lose. All of the statistics point in the right direction as long as we play nice. I think you're doing great. Please don't be discouraged!
  17. Faith, as a former vegan for many years, I would really suggest you try something with the soy, just to give yourself a chance to change your mind. There are some incredible things being done with soy. I like soy and I love ribeye steaks. One doesn't necessarily exclude the other. Now I'm gonna go check out the website!
  18. Congrats to all you big Loser's! :thumbup1:
  19. We all came to this place of surgery with a past history with food. Signing up for the surgery, or even having the surgery doesn't take away those thoughts of food. I think it's a process to go through. That said, the marvel of the Sleeve is that it becomes about fuel as others have said. I track everything in myfitnesspal.com as well. I generally plan my food early in the day so that I can see what I'll put into my body. Tina, Tiffy is right. There's so many wonderful options with low carb. For me, I've done it for years and love it because I'm rarely hungry. You're going to do terrific!
  20. Dang, I'm jealous!! I had to be at my pre-surgery goal weight or I'd be sent home with no surgery. I was only 1 pound down so had to be extremely careful. Three days before surgery I splurged with a small order of McDonald fries and that night had brown rice and an Eggplant/shrimp and scallop dish from my fav Thai restaurant. I figured I would drink Water for the next two days if I had to. When I got to surgery I had 1.2 pounds to spare and wished I'd had a dessert. The thing about surgery is that you're not going to be hungry afterwards. You'll adjust to the low carb. It takes a few days to get the sugar out of your system and then the meat and veggies will take very good care of your food cravings. Low carb is great for getting used to eating post op. Good luck!
  21. Hi Kabranda, I had Clear Liquids for the first five days, then full liquids after that. I'm 12 days out and hope to be moved to pureed foods by the end of the week. I know that continues for at least another two weeks. I think our plans are quite similar. The great news is that you won't be hungry after surgery and will need to remember to get your fluids in. I didn't feel hunger at all until day 10, and then just barely. The good thing is that at that point 1/3 cup of greek yogurt is so filling. You won't have any problem with the food plan. Good luck!
  22. I love hot herbal tea in the morning as well. I take my PPI and make a 16 oz mug of tea and grab 8 oz of Water. I wait awhile before having a Protein shake. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I head back to my office full time next week. I guess wake up very early.
  23. wow wow wow! You're doing terrific. I'm so happy for your progress! My surgeon took me off my Cholesterol and Hydroclorothiazide the day of my surgery. YAY! No more mandatory meds!
  24. Ha! I guess milk would be good if we get constipated!
  25. Ashley, I'm thinking about your son this morning! Tina, you have a lot to think about this week. I hope Dr. Baggs can help you make a good choice for you. John, I'm doing good. Back away from the bread so nobody gets hurt! I'm carefully counting calories and carbs to maximize these first few weeks post-op. Have fun cleaning your closet. I got rid of a lot the weekend pre-op to make room for clothes I had in boxes. Everything still fitting the same but then again I'm living in jammies if I don't have to go out. I'm loving my Sleeve and my Scale. After reading suggestions I went and got the Trader Joe's bean soup. Wow is that ever good. I'm living on TJ's boxed soups and Greek Yogurt. I've been eating under 300 calories a day but yesterday added one muscle milk light and brought my calories close to 500. I think I need more protein as I'm going back to my actual office tomorrow. I've been getting in my walking, either outdoors for 30 minutes or on the treadmill. All in all doing great! What's up for everyone's week? Happy Monday! It's a great opportunity to make good choices today. Who's going to Richmond on Wednesday?
