  1. You'll feel much better in a day or two and you'll be so happy with your sleeve in another week! :sad0:
  2. Laurel, I went back a few pages and see that you're home and doing well. YAY!! So happy to read that! Ali, are you the next one up? :Banane20:
  3. Good Morning! I've been in SAC for a few days but finally got to sleep in my own bed last night. YAY If you missed the CNN piece on the 14 year old, the way I did... I watched it on CNN Video. There were two of them. I just put 14 year old weight loss surgery into their video search. For Contra Costa people looking for a support group, I hear that the John Muir meeting in Walnut Creek is good. I'm going to check it out in April. I believe it meets the 2nd Saturday of every month from 10am - noon and is for anyone, not just John Muir patients. Where did this rain come from while I was away?? Hey, I want to see everyone's pictures too please. :Banane20:
  4. Tiffany, down girl down. You barely know this guy at this point. You've only seen him once. Just because he suggested something, doesn't mean you'll have to do it. Going on vacation is a plan between two people and so far, he's the only one planning. It doesn't sound like going to a naked drinking party for your first date is particularly appropriate anyways. You won't be one of those drinkers in October. Wouldn't it seem like something a little more conducive to getting to know each other would be better? If you haven't been going out and he does go and meets someone else, he wasn't your guy. There are lots of guys out there and yours will be perfect. As far as not eating much when you go out with him, by October you'll be eating small meals. Most of America is dieting. You can decide to be honest with him, or you can order an appetizer and push it around your plate when you're done eating. That's what most girls do on first dates anyhow. I say... take a deep breath, focus on your surgery and recovery and trust that everything will work out just as it's supposed to.
  5. Hey Krystal, Good luck on your approval! I hope you hear very soon. :thumbup1:
  6. Hi Michelle, Welcome to VST. I really don't have anything to add to what Tiffy said, but I do want to say.... I love my Sleeve! Good luck and I hope to see you here often!
  7. I used Myfitnesspal . com pre-op and still use it now. I find it to be very easy and it has every food in the database that I eat. I think it's normal to want to have that "last supper". I imagine that many people do it. Just search and you'll find lots of posts. Food has been part of our lives for a long time or we wouldn't be here research WLS. Why not plan a couple of meals to Celebrate your upcoming surgery, then let it go. In my case, I was very lucky. Kaiser gave me a surgery goal weight and I had to reach it before I could get a surgery date. I was so lucky to have surgery within two weeks of getting the date because I knew that if I was over 230 they would send me home and not operate. I'm a very slow loser so I knew I had to really toe the line and not have last suppers. It sounds like you have a lot of support at home. Use the support and make this a fun family adventure leading up to surgery. You won't be able to eat your way through your Sleeve. It will stop you dead on if you just stick to eating Protein first. You'll be full and won't be able to stuff in anything else. My plan calls for eating 3x a day with no Snacks so I really strive to get in that protein. Good luck!!
  8. I'm so delighted to read that you're doing well. Be sure to keep us filled in on how you're doing.
  9. Wishing you all good things. This will most likely be the best trip of your life!
  10. Congratulations on doing great on the Cruise!
  11. Hi IC4, I'm doing Atkins post-op, but I'm not figuring that it's going to be forever. I'm doing this while in the losing stage because I'm 59 years old and want to get to goal. I bet that if we watch the carbs and get the weight off, that we'll be able to eat carbs a bit more freely when we get to goal.
  12. I didn't worry about getting in Protein in the first two weeks. On full liquids, I ate greek yogurt because it's high in protein. I couldn't do the Protein shakes. At around two weeks I started drinking some RTD Muscle Milk Light but mostly focused on my 1/4 to 1/3 cup of pureed foods. I have a desk job an went back to work on Day 7. Hang in there, you'll be fine.
  13. Sorry you're hurting. Why not take it easy for a day and see if it gets better.
  14. Hello Dalal, My son tells me that you live in a beautiful place. He visited there after an invitation from the Princess whom he met at the Para-olympics in 2004. My exercise story is just a little different. I started walking immediately after surgery and was on the treadmill on Day 5. Only 20 minutes but on there. I went back to work on Day 7 and I think that just really tired me out. I do most of my exercise on the weekends now. Last Friday I swam for an hour and on Sunday walked for an hour. I have just been cleared to do any exercise, including weight lifting etc. My energy level is so much higher at 5 weeks than it was at 2 and 3 weeks. You're going to do great!!
  15. I'm using Obage products on my face and neck. I just got a big bottle of cocoa butter lotion for all around body. I have a little tub of shea butter/cocoa butter cream for hands and feet because those are getting dry. For detox I use a thick cream that I bought at a spa in Cambodia. I guess I'm a mishmash of products right now.
  16. Cindy, Keep posting about how you're doing. This is a great group here on VST!
  17. I didn't worry about protein during my five day clear stage. I experimented with isopure jello pre-op and unflavored protein powders in chicken broth etc but post-op the thought of any of them made me want to gag. I took a sip of Isopure post-op and that was it, I couldn't look at any of it again. I felt like the Isopure burned my throat. I know that protein is good for healing but I also knew I had a big stockpile of it in my system from eating low carb for months pre-op.
  18. Measuring here as well, but I like to throw it on the scale for an idea of the weight as well. My plan at 1 month out is 1/4 to 1/3 of dense Protein then 1 T of fruit or veggies and 1 serving of carbs (2 WW crackers, 1/4 slice well toasted bread, 1/8 small baked potato). I skip the carb and most always eat just protein. 2 oz of meatloaf completely fills me up. I can eat 3 oz of soft fish. 2 oz of chicken etc.
  19. Tiffy, I just wanted to say that my gallbladder came out last November and last week I was able to eat a small amount of avocado again. Give it a try at some point.
  20. I started on Protonix the day after surgery. No other pills for a month.
  21. Pammie, thanks so much for the directions and warning about the Elk Grove group. I remembered that I know a woman in Sacramento that I met at the obesity help luncheon in January. She had her RNY with Dr. Park last year. I shot her an email this morning and we're going to have dinner and go to the meeting together. I love seeing all these great pics!
  22. Anyone know what time the meeting is tonight at the Elk Grove Kaiser? I would like to try to make that since I'll be going up in the afternoon.
  23. Joan, Welcome to the group! How wonderful to hear how great both you and your co-worker are doing. Pat and everyone, the pictures from Saturday are fantastic! So cool to see everyone looking so vibrant and healthy!
  24. I'm glad the scale finally moved for you! My plan requires me to weigh daily but I really just pay attention to what it says on Wednesday. I know I really slowed down the last three week to just about 2 pounds a week. I know that this weight is going to come off so I'm being patient. This week it took me from Wed to Sun to let go of one silly pound. Let's compare notes to where we are in six months!
  25. Good Luck Terri and welcome to VST!
