  1. Thanks for the picture comment! Congratulations on your weight loss. Hitting that 100lbs mark is very exciting :)

  2. I also started out walking. I started to make it more challenging by going further, faster and adding hills. I now do Zumba, ride a bike, and I can even jog! I probably wouldn't have been able to jog 15 seconds before and now I am up to a mile! Just add little things every day like taking the stairs. Elevators don't exist in my world anymore :) I am almost 8 months out and I am thinking about getting my first fill. I only have filled what they filled during surgery. I can eat a lot more than a cup at a sitting so I am thinking that it is now time to go in and have it adjusted. I hope that you are feeling better and I know that you will do well because you sound motivated and open to change :)

  3. Hello! I have never felt hungry like I did before. It makes me wonder how much of the hunger was all in my head all along. I question myself before I eat if it is time to eat and if what I am eating is healthy. It took me about 7 months post-op to lose 125 lbs (including the pre-op diet). I am 0.3 lbs away from 130 now and June 29th will be 8 months post-op. It has definitely slowed down, but if I look at averages, I am averaging right about 2 lbs/week. The first 6 months I was averaging around 4 lbs/week! I do work-out, but not like a crazy person :) I try to workout 5 times/week for 45-60 minutes. I really don't have a secret besides changing many aspects of my life. I try to be around as many positive people as I can be, I eat 98% of the time very healthy foods, I exercise, I drink a lot of water, I take vitamins, and I work on the mental games that my brain tries to play with me. I don't play into cravings, although I still have them. If I do, it is a tiny tiny bite :)

  4. So, I have lost 145 lbs and I am 13 months post op. I finally had my very first fill on Monday! I'm back on liquids and I forgot how much it sucked! Let's hope I can get off these last 30 lbs :)

  5. Hello :) I have actually never been filled and I am approaching 7 months post-op. My hunger is completely manageable and I am still averaging somewhere around 3 lbs/week. So, whatever the surgeon put in when he first put in the band is what I have. Sorry...that probably doesn't help much :( I wish you the best of luck with your band!!!

  6. Hello! Thank you :) I have now lost 124 lbs and I will be 7 months post-op on May 29th. I still have 55 lbs to go! I hope that I will be able to lose around 10 lbs/month. Best of luck to you :)

  7. Hello! Thanks for the photo comment :) I am 27 years old. The sagging skin, well...it's better than being morbidly obese! To be totally honest, I do have some on my breasts, stomach, and inner thighs, all which can be camoflaged. It is more than 100% worth it to lose the weight. I am now down 124 lbs and the sagging skin is not that bad. I also figured that I might need to invest in plastic sugery someday so I am more concerned with being healthy than if my skin sags a little. I am pleasantly surprised that my arms are starting to take shape and are not sagging. The positive things that have changed totally outweigh the little wrinkles on my belly :)

  8. Thanks for the picture comments...it's also nice to hear from people who are tall like me :) Congratulations on your success!

  9. Hello! The extra skin is just one of those side effects of the weight loss. I am able to hide it under clothes and it isn't that bad. I wouldn't trade the change from the excess fat for the loose skin for anything! I just figure that once I get to my goal weight that I will investigate getting it removed if necessary...it may not be :)

  10. Thanks for the pic comment! I have found that counting the calories of the healthy food that I eat and exercise have kept me going. I am kind of stuck now and I am considering a fill. But, I continue to exercise and that is so motivating and I feel so great after doing it. It is just very hard to get started and to get off the majority of the excess weight that can hold you back from exercise.

  11. Congratulations! Wow, a free lap-band, what an amazing life changing prize! Thank you for your support. I have been working really hard and I count every calorie that I eat. I eat around 900 calories a day. Zumba is so much fun and anyone at any level can enjoy it. I hope that you will be able to transform your life and most definitely your health so that you can live more comfortably and happily because you absolutely deserve it. Please keep in touch and let me know if you have any questions or could just use some support!

  12. Thank you :) Most importantly is that I feel great. I wish you the best of luck or hopefully you have had success on your journey!

  13. No problem! In the morning I eat All Bran with Splenda and skim milk. For lunch I usually have a salad with some kind of protein with the dressing on the side. I just dip my fork in the dressing and use an incredibly small amount. For dinner I will eat a chicken breast and veggies or maybe very lean ground turkey with no sugar added pasta sauce with veggies. For a snack I like to eat the 94% fat free popcorn (usually they suggest waiting to eat popcorn until you are 6 months out) or string cheese. Greek yogurt is a wonderful snack or breakfast because you can find kinds that are fat free and just packed with protein. I really do eat a large variety of foods but those are my staples!

  14. Hey girl! My average loss per week started at about 4 lbs/week for the first 5 months. Now, I am averaging about 2-3 lbs/week. I have off weeks where I will only lose 1-2 lbs, at then there are some weeks where I will lose 5 lbs (those are my favorite!). I'm at 6 months now and it has slowed down...so I am going to kick up the intensity of working out to combat that :)

  15. Hello! It took me 5 months post-op to hit 100 lbs. Of course the journey has its bumps and it can be both frustrating and wonderful at the same time. Always remember the good parts of what is happening when you are frustrated with the weight loss. In those 5 months there were weeks where my body just did not lose like I wanted it to...just keep setting little goals and you will get there with the work you put into it!

  16. Girl I love Zumba! It has been one of my keys to success! It is both a rocky and wonderful road. Stay positive and don't doubt the strength and power you have to be successful. I look forward to seeing your amazing results..I hope we keep in touch!

  17. I feel like I dont have restriction right now either. I did feel good restriction though for the first 6 months or so. I feel like will power is definitely like 95% of the battle. The band can only taKe you so far, you have to have that committment. I have just followed the instructions of the bariatric center the best that I can.no one is perfect! And I exercise 5x/week. I also make sure to drink a lot of water and crystal light. Now, that my weight loss has slowed down A LOT, I have realized that this is a life long process and I need to just make all of these healthy habits part of who I am for the rest of my life. I had all of these goals of when I was going to hit my goal weight, and now my weight loss is painfully slow! So, I go on how I feel and how much better I like looking at myself in the mirror!

  18. Thank you so much for the support! I truly hope that you are achieving the goals that you have set for yourself. Hope we keep in touch :)

  19. Hello! I will be 6 months out of surgery on the 29th. I have currently lost 111 lbs :) I wish you the best of luck with your journey and if you ever have any questions or just want to chat let me know!

  20. Hi! I had some minor problems with gas pains after surgery. It would have been nice if I knew that it would happen! It is super uncomfortable, but it goes away. I think Gas-X the chewable kind work. Also, the pain meds will probably knock you out so you won't be that uncomfortable. I was able to walk a good distance 3 days post-op. Walking really helps the pain. I actually have gallstones so I will be going through that same pain this Thursday when I get my gall bladder removed. In the end, it is completely worth the couple days of discomfort!

  21. I am excited for you! I am humbled that I am an inspiration because I really just want to get to healthy weight. You will be amazed at how the world around will change when your body changes. The best advice that I can give is NEVER doubt your ability to succeed with the LAP-BAND?. Tell yourself you will succeed and this is not like anything else you have ever done to try to lose weight. Please keep in touch...anything at all! I will keep you updated too :)

  22. You're funny :) I am single, thanks for the reminder! I've learned that I can smile and wave and get free things...yay! I am hoping that what I get will even out the cost of the surgery..j/k :) Good luck to you! Thanks for the picture comment!

  23. Thank you! I hope everything goes wonderfully with your surgery. Stay positive! It is always difficult at first both physically and mentally, but trust me, it gets so much better. I am so excited for you to start Zumba! It is a blast and the most fun I have had working out. It helps the whole process of getting healthier and makes you feel happier! Keep me updated on how your surgery goes and please let me know if you need any encouragement or have any questions!
