Once your banded can you ever eat normally again??
You'll eat normal for the rest of your life. We didn't get fat by eating "normal." We gorged ourselves. Bypass patients lose weight quickly but as there stomach stretches the weight loss slows. Those that do as they're told, don't have a problem with their stomach's stretching. With the band, there are adjustments and we see our surgeons a lot more often. As long as we do what we're told and are honest with the surgeon during follow-ups. The correct adjustments are made and we are better off that bypass patients.

Should I buy a juicer or blender???
I personally think that juicers are a waste of money. The blender does the same thing and you can pour that through a strainer. I used my food processor to mushify things.

When should I worry???????????
It's absolutely normal. I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts to hurt or you get nauseous. Try a daily stool softener if you want to help it along.

Have you been keeping your fat clothing?
Keeping? Over 130 pounds down and I still wear it. I get yelled at by the fashion police all of the time but I ain't tossing out good clothes.

Slimming & PB's
It feels like you are a vampire and Van Helsing just drove a wooden stake through your heart. You feel like you can't breath but if you don't panic, you will realize there is nothing wrong with your breathing. The sliming is fun, it looks like jellyfish swimming around in the toilet.

A big Texas Howdy to you!!
Where were you at the support meeting last night? Late edit: Oops!! Never mind. I forgot for a second that they didn't even tell me about the meetings until after surgery. Forget that I said it is the 4th Thursday at 6:30 in Colleyville.

When did you see the difference?

14 weeks
Howdy! Banded March 2nd. Down 36 pounds since. Got my 3rd fill on Wednesday and am getting stuck on cottage cheese and yogurt. I think I need an unfill on Monday but I should lose a few pounds this weekend. The treadmill isn't all that boring if you play music really loud.

How important are the rules really?
Here's a step by step: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/ticker-tutorial-pictures-41782/ I have no clue. I had a hematoma and a huge bruise at the spot where I was injected with the blood thinner prior to surgery. It went away after a month or so.

What other expenses are their besides the surgery?
Protein shakes and new clothes. I am almost 4 months out and haven't had to take any Vitamins except for the daily I already do every day. Your life is not going to change drastically.

Embarrassing Situation
I'm sure he is talking kilos. Only American's talk in old-fashioned measurements. :bored: I'd prefer to weigh 111 instead of 234 but alas, I'm American. Mizo, Sounds like you're going to have to find a plastic surgeon if you really want to get rid of your moobs.

Lap Band Question.. Please help!
And it doesn't come out of your nose like vomit either :bored:

I need some advice....
Throw a chicken breast into the blender or food processor, mix in some fat free Miracle Whip and you have yourself pureed food chalk full of Protein. What is it about protein shakes you don't like? Is it the flavor? Texture? Look? I could live on Optifast for the rest of my life if need be.

How important are the rules really?
Welcome aboard! Basing your opinion of this forum on one thread out of 110,876 is a bit narrow-minded isn't it? Before I knew that the OP was trolling, I thought she was trying to justify her bad behavior. I think the first reply was right on. There are plenty of people with actual issues that take priority above those causing the problem to themselves and knowing it. That being said, if you don't feel like posting; you'll do just fine. I don't think there is anything regarding the lapband that hasn't already been discussed here in detail.

Not enough calories?
You have to consume more calories than that. Even if you aren't hungry; drink a few Protein shakes a day. You can screw up your metabolism by starving yourself. Your hunger will return but if you stay positive if won't be as bad as some people whine about.

Now approaching Twoderville!
There is nothing wrong with snacking as long as you keep it light. There isn't a specific number of carbs that you should have but you want to keep the number as low as possible without torturing yourself. A lot of people eat bread or potatoes with every meal. That is too much. Since you said you cut both out that isn't an issue. It is very important that you consume at least 50 grams of protein a day and drink at least 64 ounces of water. If you're not keeping a food diary, you should start. It will show you where you may need to consume more protein. You can do this for free at: Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, Food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate Kathy, I started at 365 and questioned whether I'd ever see 250 either. I am at 234 now and confident that I will hit my goal of 170.

A Man's Meal?
Your pouch is not expanding to accommodate the excess food. You don't have tight restriction yet so most of it is dropping right through. I am not sure about the women's stomach question but my guess would be that they have the same size organs as men. Well, most organs. :bored:

Hi New
Welcome aboard and hunker down. The insurance approval process can seem lengthy. Use the time wisely and just keep reading and asking questions as they come up.

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
Dottie, that's great news. I wish you all the best. Do you have to get a complete unfill prior to knee surgery in case of nausea?

Can someone explain what "SLIMING" is??
Our esophagi exude a clear mucus in order to lubricate our throats and aid food on its way down to the stomach. When there is a blockage, that mucus has nowhere to go but up.
-
I have arrived (finally)
Congrats!! I am not near my goal weight yet but the answer is obvious to me. "If ain't broken, don't fix it!" If you at comfortable restriction. Leave it there. Then give him a call if you think you need a fill.

A big Texas Howdy to you!!
I don't want to give you the wrong impression but I did not have any pain with lapband surgery. The gas was uncomfortable for 3 and a half days but not what I would consider pain.
