Can 15 or 17 year olds have lapband surgery?
Are they overweight or morbidly obese? I'm going to get some slack for saying this but I think anyone under 25 is too young to be having bariatric surgery. At that point in life; how many diets or programs could you have possibly tried? Surgery should be a last resort after all else fails.

protein shakes/mix??? confused???
No. Shakes are not Clear liquids. Clear liquids are broths, coffee, crystal light, etc...

What have you lost?
Looking in mirror. I found it. I've lost a blood hound and seven chihuahuas.

I love Optifast. It is like dessert. You have to get them a distributor though. Your doctor may be a distributor. * those on a budget think it is expensive but it really isn't.

I am BANNDED!! Here is what my day was like
Tori, Congrats!! Just so it doesn't hit you by surprise. You wake up a little cramped and sore all over on Saturday when the IV fluids leave your body. I guess this means we will see you at the July support meeting in Colleyville?

Insurance won't pay, now what??
You can take a loan. There are loan companies out there that specialize in medical loans. If you have enough credit on your credit card, you may also charge the surgery.

Cravings
Shely, If you are just starting the process, do NOT treat it like a diet. Try to eat smart but don't rob yourself of your favorite foods. Eat whatever you'd like but in moderation. Eat smaller portions than you usually do; cut it small and chew the hell out of it. Try to stay away from fast food and don't drink regular soda; milk or juice.

Cravings
Immediately following surgery your hunger and cravings will probably dissipate. Try brushing your teeth when the cravings are strong. Nobody ever wants to soil their freshly brushed teeth.

Down 20 pounds!!!!! :)
Congrats!! Next time you start to get depressed or frustrated, think about how good you feel right now.

Hey guys
The is nothing to be afraid of. Unless you have a really low pain threshold there is no pain. Very uncomfortable gas for a couple of days but not bad enough where I'd call it pain.

Stuck again- this time, not so happy :(
If you haven't drank any water in 18 hours the cramping you are feeling is probably dehydration. Your system requires water whether it hurts or not. If the water does come back up, try eating crushed ice a little spoonful at a time.

Backseat of small car?
Most of us are back to normal after 4 days or so. If you can do it now, you should be able to do it 10 days post-op.

I have important question about post op for me...had my surgery today!
I was drinking Protein shakes an hour after surgery. Slimfast shouldn't hurt.

3rd fill? Is it really the magic fill???
I think #3 was my magic fill. I started with 3 cc in my band. Felt no restriction but managed to get stuck. Had 2 cc added for first, second and third fills bringing me to my current 9ccs. I can only drink shakes in the morning and the amount I can eat progresses throughout the day. I think I like it.

A big Texas Howdy to you!!
I'd show you the secret handshake but then I'd have to kill you.

how many cc's for restriction 14cc
It's not what I eat but if I can eat. I can't touch solids in the morning but can drink a protein shake with no problem. I can eat about a quarter cup at noon and then a half cup at dinner. I think I like it.

He didn't give you a sheet of paper with what to eat and drink? A few people are on Clear liquids following surgery but I think most are on any liquids including yogurt and Jello.

Am I too old?
It's not the insurance company exactly. Your employer chooses what the plan will include and exclude.

I have 9 cc and am not sure if I am too tight or perfect.

Hey guys
About 20 minutes after surgery.

What do you all think?
Doesn't sound right to me if you are weighing yourself in pounds. I was told by multiple nutritionists and my surgeon that women should consume at least 50 grams of Protein and men 68 grams. PS. I had a fill since I posted that last post and can barely eat a 1/2 cup now. Nor am I hungry. I am eating just to get my protein in.

Heavy drinker considering surgery
Thanks! I have printed this off and will talk to both my nutritionist and surgeon about it. I love to drink every couple of weeks but even more, I eat spicy food every day of the week. I asked about both and was told that there would be no issues. coffee is also on this list for causing erosion. How many drink a pot a day without issue. As are vinegar and soy sauce.

First Fill
Congrats!! It will work if you keep that attitude. Your hunger will return but you won't be as ravenous as you may have been in the past. Just keep the portions small and chew until there is no flavor left. Good luck.
