Emotional Eating...
I try to give the answers that I need to hear. When I get into the emotional eating, I can't do it if it isn't readily available. It is a bit of a snappy reply but it is what works.

Spring into March 2010 Bandsters
I have the same thing on both sides as well as my skin in my back and chest feeling like it is being ripped from my body. I attribute the pain to my guts shifting around. This is a self-diagnosis though. I will mention it to surgeon or PA tomorrow and get their opinion.

Stupid Question
I threw a 37 pound bag of dog food over my shoulder the day after surgery (not thinking) and if hurt like a bitch but I didn't do any damage. You should be fine as long as it don't hurt.

Getting Ready
Do not over-think this. You are not going to be bedridden following surgery. You just need enough to get you through the night.

Poor, nervous and shy.
The lapband will not keep you from eating sweets and greasy garbage. The lapband will limit how much you eat but you will have to modify your lifestyle and eat right in order for it to work. If you are not ready to reconsider what your eat, you may want to look at an alternate surgery.

Dizziness?
Are you blonde? This is normal. Just kidding. I know I just pissed a hundred people off and I don't care. It's not about drinking Water in the morning, it's about how much you drank that day before. I don't get dizzy but I do get headaches and cramps in the morning if I don't drink enough water the previous day.

Healing Process
No problem!! I could have run a mile 2 hours after surgery.

just wondering
between 800 and 1,500. It all depends on what is takes to satisy you. Not fill but satisfy. It also depends on what you burn daily. Talk to your nutritionist.

When will my head catch up
While this may work for some. It was so much more exciting to me to see the before picture 9 months later. PS. I am still pissed that they didn't question my license picture in Boston or DFW last week at the airport.

Get a Bodybugg!
You only have to enter what you eat. It does the other stuff on its own. Below is copied from the Bodybugg link that I posted earlier: The bodybugg system uses a patented process to measure calorie burn. The process is based on: Motion: The armband contains an accelerometer that measures motion from multiple perspectives. Steps: The accelerometer counts steps by measuring the distinct patterns created by running or walking. Galvanic skin response: When you sweat, your skin becomes more electrically conductive. This measurement helps the device understand how active you are. Skin temperature: There’s an electronic thermometer inside your armband that monitors how hot you are. Heat flux: When you move, your muscles produce heat. Your armband measures the heat that’s flowing from your body into the environment.

Thick, gloupy sputum!!!!
It is what is commonly referred to here as "slime" and not saliva at all. Saliva is created in the mouth. Slime is a mucus created by the esophagus to aid food down. When there is a blockage, it has nowhere to go but up.

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
I like "cheat". It makes the point stand out. If the doctor puts you on a 10 days pre-op diet and you cheat 2 of those days; you have just cheated 20% of the time. Let's say for the sake of argument that you have 60 years left to live. 20% of that is 12 years. So, is it ok to cheat for 12 years?? We are all going to make bad decisions throughout our lives whether it be food choices; love; whatever... The pre-op diet is relatively short. There is plenty of time for making mistakes when it is over.

how hungry are you supposed to get?
It sounds to me like you should get a fill because you described your dinner as large. What you didn't say was what your dinner was comprised of. Was there a lot of meat; starch; veggies; etc...? It's not just how much we eat that matters. It is what we eat as well. meats and other Proteins satisfy us longer and keep our hunger at bay.

2nd fill today and it was informative and I think productive too
My surgeon and PA are always very informative. It makes it a lot easier. Otherwise, I'd feel like I was on an assembly line or something. This is the first I've heard of the 14cc band not holding 14ccs. I've seen people post here about haveing 11 and 12 ccs in their 10cc bands. My second fill was to 7cc in my 14cc band and I thought I had hit my sweet spot already. A week later I was able to finish a 6" sub. I get my third fill in 2 days from a new PA in my surgeon's office. If she hurts me, I will kick her. The PA that usually does them is great.

Applebees is my new best friend!
Most restaurant soups are very high in sodium. Don't do it every day. Cambell's has a line of heart healthy low sodium soups. I add No-Salt to them and they are just as good as really soup.

How important are the rules really?
Is this a joke? SC is still posting as if she doesn't have multiple accounts to start trouble?

Get a Bodybugg!
It's a little device you wear on your arm that calculates how many calories you are burning and estimates the number of step you have taken. You can enter what you've eaten on the website and it does the math to tell you how many pounds you will lose. It's well worth the $250 or less that is cost. bodybugg® system | Get the Bodybugg Exercise Calorie Counter from 24 Hour Fitness

How soon is too Soon?
The timing may be fine but I wouldn't do it if I weren't eating "normal" food yet. My surgeon has a rule of 6 weeks as well.

Calories you consume minus calories burned??
I am old school. There is no such thing as a stupid question. No! In order to lose weight, you must have a deficit. The deficit is the amount or calories that burned minus those you ate. If you eat 1,100 calories a day and burn 300 at the gym and another 1,800 throughout the day; you have a deficit of 1,000 calories for that day. The deficit is kind of like a savings account. Every time you cash in 3,500; you lose a pound.

Calories you consume minus calories burned??
I'm willing to bet that EVERYBODY posting how many calories they consumed are all talking about what they ate. If you calories consumed are bigger than burned, you are going to gain weight. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. So, if you eat 7,000 calories in a week and burn 14,000 calories that week. You should lose 2 pounds. This is what is so great about the Bodybugg, it does the math for you.
