April's Goal!!
Don't listen to them...you know your body and what you want to look like. I get the same comments when I tell people my goal is 175...but I AM going to get there!

Marchies In April
Big Hugs! It is definitley a big change...learning to take smaller bites, chew, chew, chew, and knowing when to stop. It will take some time learning these things. I know you can do it and you will be successful! Try again tomorrow. You will get the hang of it. I hear that stress can make you feel more restricted.

Marchies In April
I tend to become obsessed with weighing myself when dieting so I decided to only weigh-in every Tuesday evening at the hospital when I go to group meetings which will be tonight. Last Tuesday I was 257...I am anxious to see what the scale says tonight!

Thanks for all the details Synicalchick. I wondered how that worked..sitting up with a needle sticking out your side certainly explains it. I was told my surgeon fills pretty aggressively with about 5cc in a 10cc band. Then he has you drink some water and backs off until the water flows through easily. Most of his patients end up with about 4cc at the first fill. My first fill is scheduled next Monday so I really appreciate your post.

I just had to applaud :clap2: Mrs. Husker and SGDodge for posting your before pics on the before and after thread. Good for You! I took pics before surgery, but I should have taken some with less clothes as well to really see the difference in my body. I can't wait to see how you two change over time.

Marchies In April
Happy Monday Everybody!!! Welcome Afrykanvyolet and to ALL our newest March Bandsters! Thanks for joining us! Oh Scarlett, I am so sorry to hear that. I have read about others with port infections and I believe it is easily cleared up by taking antibiotics. That could be one reason why some are given antibiotics right after surgery. I did not receive an antibiotic after surgery and getting an infection was one of my concerns. Everything should be OK. Please let us know how you're doing.

Marchies In April
Sue, eating is going pretty well. I'm on soft foods now. I am able to eat way more than 3/4 cup of food, but I am trying to be good. I think I over did it on Friday. I went to a funeral and they had tons of food afterwards at the repass. I started out OK and ate a couple meatballs and a couple deviled eggs then I had some pistachio salad and ended up going back for seconds because it was soooo good. My first fill is scheduled for for April 9th, I am a little nervous, but I definitely need some restriction.

I DID IT!!!
Congratulations...You are sooooo close to onderland! I can't wait to get there with ya!

scale hasn't moved
Don't worry that scale will start going down again. If you are counting calories, try switching up your calorie intake. I've never tried it, but it makes sense and may give your body a little jolt.

March 2007 Bandsters
Hi Linda! How have you been doing? Glad to see you posting again. I have been swallowing pills whole since the day after surgery. I had no problems getting them down. I think it depends on how much swelling you have. I also think it may have a little to do with the size band you have.

Another thing, how are you getting your Protein? Protein keeps you fuller longer and it really helps get rid of that hungry feeling. At least for me it does.

First I just want to give you a great big hug!!! It sounds like you are having a hard time right now. To be honest, emotional eating is probably one of the hardest things to overcome. You have to find other outlets besides food during these times. I have heard others suggest, taking up a hobby, go shopping, have a massage, a manicure, or a pedicure. I think my outlet is this message board. You will always have cravings (our eyes are bigger than our stomachs...literally), but the choices that you make is what matters. Hang in there!!! :bolt:

I was very constipated during my first week. Magnolia suggested Colace stool softener and it worked really well.
