Hey Telly, I hope you don't lose your hair again from the surgery!! Did you lose hair when you had your c-section? Just curious.

Poll - Democrat or Republican?
Hmm I think anyone can say anything. I know I would never ridicule anyone for their beliefs. I would say I am a moderate. I can vote either way, but as I stated earlier my father who is my hero is very much a democrat. I don't know why more Republicans aren't stating their veiwpoint. Tom is very educated in his beliefs, and its good that he wants to educate others. I haven't seen him be rude or disrespectful to anyone. In fact noone has been disrespectful that I know of. L8Bloomr, if you have a political point of veiw, you can feel free to express it. You are assuming that you will be attacked for doing so.. but if you never try you'll never find out. I promise to help you out if anyone tries to belittle you for expressing yourself. There is no right or wrong. But there is a Right and a Left, and neither is wrong. This country needs open dialog about politics in my humble oppinion. Thats the only way this country will stay great, is by education and information. I challenge everyone to open their minds to differant points of veiw and try to understand where they are coming from. So far noone has fought or been nasty, Yayyyy!!! Keep up the good work all. Its noones job to reprimand anyone, as we are all adults. Instead of talking for other people talk for yourself. L8Bloomer Im wondering if perhaps you were feeling intimidated, and your post was really more about your own feelings than worrying about others' feelings. Please give everyone on this thread a chance to show you that its ok to express yourself. I bet Tom would be the first to stand up for you if someone was being mean to you. He is an American, and I think he holds the freedom of speech in high regard, as do you. Everyone remember that its hard to communicate via typing, as we can't see facial expressions and body manerisms. Sometimes we get the wrong idea about what someone is trying to say. So be patient, and talk out misunderstandings without jumping to conclusions about people and their motives if possible. Thanks all. I hope I don't seem like a big bossy lol, I just really like reading this thread, and I'd hate to see it go down in flames.

Journal Entry
Everthings going pretty good for me. Im down another pound .. YES! I even ate some cake at a baby shower yesterday and two bowls of chili. Weird lol. My life is so busy these days, we have multiple building projects going, a business expansion, a six month old, a five year old, financing procurements, holidays approaching, birthdays... my head is a whirlwind. I just haven't had time to even focus on my weight or diet. I think thats just a testement to the band, im sure that in the past I'd have put weight on right now instead of losing another pound. I know that if I had more time to just be focused on my weight I could probabaly be losing faster but I guess I just have other things higher on my priority list at the moment. I feel like im so lucky right now, it kind of makes me scared because in the back of my mind I always think you can't have everthing for long. Its like im waiting for something to come along and knock the wind out of my sails. Maybe thats a bad way to think, but I guess I only think about it when im journaling so whateva.

Just Another Entry
Well, My husbands hormone replacement therapy is working well! He is extremely energetic, its crazyyyy. Yesterday he was up and gone by 6am and worked all day on our business expansion. He arrived home at about 6pm, he had picked up some delite pizza so I didn't have to make supper . Then he popped it in the oven, we all ate together. He ran a bath for our oldest daughter while I took care of our baby. Then whilst she was in the bath, he cleaned the entire kitchen, picked up the house... I was getting dizzy just watching him lol. Then he made a pot of tea, and we all sat in the living room and visited until 8:30 both kids were put into bed. Then we sat on the couch for about a half hour and spooned, the next thing I knew he was carting me into the bedroom for a very long and fantastic romp. LOL its like he's 20 again omg. :clap2:

NEW HERE: should I or shouldn't I
Um I would say I could have typed your post exactly pretty much. Im 29, I weighed 227 lbs. Perfect health etc. etc. I too am 5'2". I just got to the point where I decided I wasn't going to diet again only to gain every ounce back plus. I was self pay as well. I think it was worth the money. Im feeling better and better about myself daily when I get to shop through the clothes in my closet that haven't fit for some time. I am sooo looking forward to the coming months and being smaller. Im planning a vacation, and not dreading wearing shorts or something that shows more skin. I know by then I'll be feeling Xcellentae! In two years I'll be wearing a size 8 and shopping at any store I want to. Thats my goal. And now with the band it will happen.

Hey there, welcome to LBT. I hope you get insurance approval. I went the self-pay route and don't regret it! I read your post and journal entries and I can totally relate to what you typed. I have internal meltdowns too when I know ppl are looking at me.

Emotional wreck and food portion size
Larry, Mike might have been trying to be supportive by not asking you if wanted anything. Judging by how confused you are about what you can and can't eat, im sure Mike is equally or even more confused or unknowing in this regard. Jachut had it right, everyone's amount they can eat is differant. Just start out very slow! Drink a sip at a time and space out your sips.. like take one drink.. wait 20 seconds.. take another drink etc. I don't know where you got the band but your surgeon should have made sure you were more prepared than you are. Im sorry you didn't get more education! I feel bad for you. But now you should spend some serious time reading through the threads on this website, it can really help you. Consider this site your 'book'. Good luck to you. Make sur eyou are drinking premixed protien shakes at first. You want to get at least 65 grams of protein per day. Welcome to LBT!

fluroscopies?
They have you drink a liquid that shows up on an x-ray while you drink it. That way they can see if enough liquid is able to pass through your band so that you are not over tight. Its kind of like watching an xray movie.. hm that sounds kinky lol. Also when they put the needle in your port they can see where exactly the port is at..less poking around. A much safer fill.

Food
7:00 am Breakfast: Atkins + Unjury 3:30 pm Lunch: South Beach Bar 6:00 pm Supper: Chinese Food, a little bit of everything, but nothing fried or battered. Some pork, some meat out of a steamed dumpling, Some shrimp, Some broccoli and cauliflower, some chicken broth to start out with. Water: I didn't keep track but I drank a fair amount. Vitamins: Calcium, Multi, Biotin Exercise: I haven't been exercising, its really bumming me out, I have a toe issue, from stubbing my toe really hard and now the nail hurts. I think its getting better so hopefully in a couple days I can start exercising again. Goal: Exercise!! I have to meet with my new doctor again in a month to check my progress and see if I need a fill. I would be mortified if I don't lose a fair amount of weight!! lol:omg: Today Lucie, my 5 1/2 month old said ba ba and ma ma. She's a genius lol.

How many calories a day do you eat?
1200-1300 seems to be what works best for me. But as long as I stay under 1500 I seem to continue to lose.

Boy I missed having my journal.
Well I had my fill last Wednesday, Im not noticing much differance. But I have been babying it a bit and not eating anything too solid. Tomorrow will be a more regular diet and we'll see how that sits with me. I haven't publicly journaled about this yet I don't believe. But something that Im currently experiencing in my life right now is that my husband is sick. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in the beginning of this year. Its been such a hard thing to deal with. We recently learned that his tumor is not the kind they thought it was so the medication they have been giving him has not shrunk it like they had hoped. The neuro-surgeons don't want to operate at this point because there is a chance that it won't continue to grow, so we ahve to keep a close eye on it and my dh has to stay intune with his body in case he starts to feel differently. He started hormone replacement therapy today. It will be interesting to see how that affects him. Its supposed to make him feel better, and sure hope it works. My hubby is only 32 years old. Im sure he's going to be alright. He has to be, theres just no other option.

Poll - Democrat or Republican?
In history have we ever declared war on a group that does not have its own country? What country does Al Quaeda own? Im so confused how can we win this war? Have they even told us what winning means? We got Saddam out, still we didn't win. We got elections going.. still we didn't win. We will never win because we aren't fighting for anything for us.. we're fighting for Iraqies, so therefor the only winners will be either iraqies or al Quada. The only other possible winners are the people who have a vested interest and ownership in oil or in war itself. Hmm who has a vested interest in war and oil?? First name rymes with 'brick', last name rymes with 'rainy'.
