What is your typical Menu as a Bandster?
I eat Special K Meal bars (10 grams protein) and I love Stoffers frozen meals. They are around 10 oz and with my fill last week I cannot eat a whole one to the delight of my dog. I love my sugar free puddings too. I eat a small portion of whatever I fix for hubby for dinner. Best wishes, edie

Help me troubleshoot!
The trainer at my gym (we are friends now too) says when you reach a plateau you don't need to exercise more but push yourself harder. More weight or faster walking. She got me over a 2 week plateau with this advice. This was my third plateau since my lap band. I fussed when she increased my weight training but now about 2 weeks later Im used to it. I do a set of 10 on 6 machines every other day. Takes about 15 minutes. I had NEVER done weight machines but I have to admit I feel powerful doing it. Wonders never cease. edie

Cold Feet... Getting banded 12/14/06
Dear Cold Feet, I was worried about a stroke or heart attack without the Lapband. I went thru some depression from not be able to eat as MUCH as I wanted to but when I retired my 26 jeans for a 22, then 22 for a 20 and when I put those 18's on (now they are loose) my depression is gone. I truly believe in "eating feels good, but thin feels better". Im not thin yet but I feel regular size now . No more plus for me. Can you lose it and help your health without it? With exercise and your band you will get a high like overeating never gave me. Be brave and do this for your health. edie

Q about fluid intake post-op
I've never had any problem drinking liquids. Even right after surgery I drank easily. I drink at least 3 18 oz bottles of liquid every day. My doctor gave me no warning only to make sure to get my liquids in to help with weight loss. edie

Lap-band misconceptions
How about people who think you can only eat certain foods. The question goes like this. "WHAT are you eating NOW?". I reply anything just not very much of it. Seems like they think I have to go to the Lap band store or order my food online at Lapband-r-us. edie

To do or not to....
Yes after almost 5 months the craving have disappeared for me. I was sad passing a chinese or mexican restaurant and even going to the grocery store saddened me. Going from a size 26 jean to a 18 feels so good I got over it. When I pulled those jeans on my brain cravings started going away. Now they are loose. I must remember to pull those old mom size 16 jeans and try them on. Then I will go buy a trendy pair and donate the old style . So yes you won't miss pigging out eventually. edie

Weight based discrimination
I always and will always be very friendly and helpful to overweight people. To me food addiction is just like any other addiction. I know how it is to be ignored when you are heavy. We are treated rudely and like a non person. It is hard not to want to mention the band to every heavy person I see. If the subject comes up I spill. I am glad you are so much support to your girl. I wonder sometimes what it takes for some of those really skinny women to stay so skinny. Who knows what goes on behind their closed doors. Not a skinny hater either, edie

My Life as a Bandster
I really like your name Bandiva. You are really going to enjoy the control you will gain. After 5 months I don't miss the food. At first it was hard going past my favorite food places and knowing I couldn't go in and eat,eat and eat. Then I moved to Ha I have beat you ,you buffet. Now I don't even notice them when I pass them. Even the grocery store was hard at first . Now its just like picking up paper towels . Its just food. I eat to live now. Just trying to pass on the good with the bad. your future band sister, edie

I now reside in Two-terville
You feel like screaming it don't you?! Pat yourself on the back . Plus you know you have to work to get it. Exercise makes you feel accomplished. I wish we knew the magic words to get all bandsters to put in their 30 minutes of some activity each day. edie

Why can't my husband understand????
Wow I feel for you. Why husband kept asking me if I was SURE over and over again. I would ask what do you mean? He finally spit out that it would change my eating habits and he knew I loved to eat. I said I've eaten everything I have ever wanted and look where I'm at!! Yes I was sure. Sometimes you have to do for yourself. It will be you and your band, not you and your husband and other family members. It is a journey between you and your band. You have to learn what your band tells you. My husband knows now I WAS ready.I am so happy. I feel so in control . My highest was 272 at 5'4" so I can feel for you. edie

The price of Christmas
I wish I could get my family to be reasonable but NO..... THAT JUST WOULDN'T BE RIGHT. My dream would be to pool our money and make a donation to our local homeless shelter in our families name. So much for give to the unfortunate. So I am stuck getting stuff I don't want which I do give to the Salvation Army (tax deduction tee hee) and buying for adults who have everything they want now. Im with Jack, Bah Humbug. edie:speechles

Exactly how do you feel when...
At first I would get that pressure in my chest. It is unpleasant. It would make me want to go in a room all by myself until it passed. Now my body gives me the "enough!" feeling before I get to that point. I remember pre band asking for a description of the "too much feeling". I was told you will know because it hurts. good luck edie
