  1. I was unfilled today in anticipation of my revision surgery on 11//21. I feel like I need to eat everything in sight. I knew the hunger would come back but not so soon. It is going to be a long two weeks
  2. I went to Dr Gonzales also. I was banded last October. I liked him very much and never had the gas pains everyone talks about.
  3. I just got a fill on my band, hoping it would help me loose weight, although I am still going to convert to the sleeve. Sometimes now with the band I get an air bubble stuck and cant burp it up. Does this feeling happen with the sleeve?
  4. I am scheduled to have a revision in Feb. My doc isn't the same one that did my surgery as I Moved. My new doc was reluctant to fill because he is used to a 10cc band and I have. 14cc band. I scheduled the sleeve surgery and finally my doc filled me To Where I should be. I have been walking 2-3 miles 4/week and so far I have only lost 2 lobs since I had the fill. My question still remains will I lose weight, and if that's what you believe,'why is it different than getting a fill. L Maybe a dumb question but trying to make decisions.
  5. I am going to MX alone also. I am also using Dr Ortiz. I am not worried about going alone. My son is going to take me to the airport and pick me up which was my concern. It is only a 90 minute flight. I plan to stay close to the hotel and bring DVD's with me. My date is Feb 20, 2012
  6. I have a band but am switching to a sleeve in February, just for background. I weight 300lbs (down from 340 pre band weight or all time high of 369) I have started trying to walk most days of the week, at least till the weather turns here in Sunny CA. Today I made it 3.01 miles in 70 minutes. I am quite tickled with myself as my longest distance had been 2.3 miles. I dont know if I will work towards going longer or going faster. What is a reasonable distance to walk and get results? Nan
  7. I live in Turlock and in order for my insurance to pay (which is only 50%) I have go to to Clovis Community near Fresno. I am going to Mexico instead.
  8. I had my surgery in the US. The doctor who did the surgery told me he used a Large band. I always thought it was a 14cc band as I thought there were 10's and 14's. My new doc only uses the 10cc band and thinks this is the large size. Anyone know?
  9. I had planned on having surgery in Nov but I don't qualify for FMLA until Feb. So rather than getting an unfill I am going to ask for a fill tomorrow. I only have 7.25cc in a 14cc band but my doc thinks I am full enough. He doesn't use Flouro so I don't know why he feels this way. I was at 8cc at one point but it was too much. BUT there is still alot of room between the two.
  10. I was going to use Aceves for my. Revision but decided on Dr Ortiz for the same reason. 5k is a lot of money. Especially in Mexico
  11. I have had a band for 12 months and started at 340. I am only down to 298 now, despite my hard work. I am moving forward and getting the sleeve becuase I am tired of living at this weight. I am going to Dr Ortiz in Tijuana in about 6 weeks. I live in Central California and my insurance will only pay for half of the cost here. Paying cash in Mexico is still cheaper and with a lot less hoops to jump through.
  12. I have only been with my job for 8 months and am having surgery next month. Does this mean I am not eligible for FMLA?
  13. I was banded 1yr ago and have only lost 40lbs. I started at 340 so I am still very large. I have followed the diet, although some of my portions may be over 3 oz of Protein at a meal. I havent lost any weight in 5 months despite dieting and walking several days/week. My labs all check out fine. I am filled 7.5 cc in a 14cc band. When I go tighter I cant keep things down. I am concerned that having the band will not help me lose weight any better than the band did. I dont want to have a bypass. Is there hope for me, or am I just wasting more time and money? If I have the sleeve, I am going to Dr Aceves in Mexicali.
  14. What does he charge to do the Sleeve? How long did you have to stay in Mexico?
  15. I have been banded for a year and have only lost 40lbs. I now weigh 300lbs. I follow the diet fairly well and exercise and not sure why my loss has been so little. I got banded in Dallas and now live in CA. The doc here suggests I consider the bypass because of the malabsorbtion but I think I would prefer the sleeve. Has anyone else had the sleeve after an unsuccessful band?
  16. I started the journey at 340 in October. Here I am almost 1 yr out and I have only lost 40lbs. I eat between 800-1000 cal and walk 1.5 miles 5 days a week. I expected much more. I think I will give it another year and if I still haven't made progress have bypass. I am bipolar and take some weight unfriendly meds. Not sure how much that plays into it.
  17. I have 7.25 in a 14cc band. My current doc thinks that is enough but I dont think so. I was banded 11 months ago and have only lost 45lbs. In the last 6 months I haveonly lost 10of that amount. The doc who did my surgery wanted to bring me to at least 8 but I moved and had to use the only doc in my new town now. So, how much does everyone else have in this size band?
  18. My insurance will only cover half of any bariatric issues. Having the surgery, office visits and fills. Bummer also
  19. I am bipolar and have been stable for about 8 years. I had my psych evaluation done by my own psychiatist which made the stress level go down. I have had no issues with the band related to mood. My surgeon said sometimes bipolar people have no impulse control, band or no band, but I have not found that to be the case. I am really losing weight much much slower then expected. Not sure if it the meds (Geodon, Lamictal, Trazadone and Zoloft) or if I am going to be the worlds slowest loser. Best of luck. Dont worry about it.
  20. Good work! You said you were unfilled to 7.5. What level fill do you usually have? I am at 7.25 in a 14cc band and my doc wont go tighter.
  21. I have had the band for 9 months with only losing 40lbs. I started this journey at 340. Now I bounce around 300. I have followed the diet, exercised and consumed more than my share of Water. I am a loss.I have counted every morsel that enters my body but still minimal success. The only thing that may be an issue is that I take anti-psychotics for Bipolar disorder. I can not stop these to see if this would make a positive change. I am going to give it another 3 months, but at that point if I havent had success I am seriously considering getting the Bypass. Am I crazy?
  22. For the first time since 1992 I weight under 300LBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is so exciting . I thought this day would never come. My first serious goal has been met. Next goal 280. Not sure what I am going to do for a reward, but I did just book a Smokey Mountain vacation during fall colors. That sounds like a good thing to call my treat. HItting 299 has taken me MUCH longer than I expected. But, the fact is I have MADE IT
  23. Dr Victor Gonzales in Dallas did my surgery. I think any surgeon can repair the hernia at the same time as surgery.
  24. I just got my first lab results since I was banded. I am low in Vit B1. Anyone else have this problem?
  25. I used to take Seroquel for bipolar disorder. I didnt gain any weight on it and was able to lose some weight while on it. I gained my weight on lithium and depakote. Today I take Geodon and Lamictal and am making slow progress towards weight loss.
