  1. Glad to hear that your doing well. Congratulations on weight loss so far!!
  2. So true!!! Thanks for everyone's input. Congratulations to all of you success. I am so glad so many people from different post-op stages responded. Great insite with a lot of food ideas I never even thought of... I will certainly try some of them when I finally get to jump on the "Bandwagon" too LOL.
  3. Hi, This question is for post-op patients. I know everyones different but I was hoping for a scenario of what your day is like with the band at any and all post op stage. Do you prepare all your meals before hand? Do you measure portions? Are your meals completely different from your families? I just want to have an idea of what to expect if there is anything I can do now to start preparing (even though my surgery wont be for a couple of months) for my NEW life. Thanks:smile2:
  4. I have started telling the people I trust about it. I have come to terms with my decision and am not embarassed about it, Because this band will help me get healthier and be able to do more stuff with my daughter... Or so I thought... I told my sister yesterday and she said the dreaded phrase " Your taking the easy way out" I was SO hurt that of all people SHE would be the one to say this. Especially because she has been privy to my struggles since my Tweens!!! But to answer your question tell the people you think should know and just be aware that some people wont understand or agree with your decision.
  5. Wow you musst be so excited to have a date... I meet with the surgeon 8/20, I hope i will get a date then too.
  6. Stepping out the shower and being able to wrap a regular size towel around me. not a bath sheet!!!
  7. I know, I have to lose 10-20lbs. I started a "diet" Sunday and here it is monday and I am starving LOL. I hope I can lose some weight before my visit with surgeon Aug 20th. I sure I can do the ten.... But maintaining weight loss and following thru has always been an issue for me... Good luck everyone, nice to not feel alone:smile:
  8. OMG, lol with the holidays its gonna be hard. I know someone who got banded two days before Thanksgiving (her fav holiday) and said it was hard but that she was okay because she knew she would have to deal with the temptation.
  9. ....Or Any other store where a size 2 cost so much cheaper then a size 20. Being able to wear a regular size necklace or braclet and not feeling like its gonna choke me or cut off my circulation. the ability to feel sexy, and wear thongs again. Being able to go get a bikini wax and fit on those tiny table/beds.
  10. Hi just curious if anyone is looking at a date around that time? I went yesterday for my consult and they said about 3-4 months if I do everything. I started my pre-op diet today they want me to lose 10lbs... 20lbs would be ideal but not to stress the number just start eating healthier.
  11. I just finished watching that show I dvr'd it the other night and finally got around to watching it. I hope he finds a nice girl. It was really a sweet show that made me happy that I chose to finally do something about my weight regardless if I am using surgery instead.
  12. Congrats!!! I will say an extra prayer tonight for your speedy recovery, but I am sure you will be fine and in a few days feel better then ever. Keep us posted.
  13. I went today foy my consult and the psych eval. They told me the whole process goes about 3-4 months if I lose 10 - 20 lbs.
  14. Hi and Thanx for the responses, I spoke to my family and My aunt and uncle both take BP meds and started in or around their late thirties. Can HTN be genetic?? My Dad doesnt have it although he has really high colesteral that he trys to control.
  15. Hi all, I went to my regular doctor for annual physical today and my blood work was normal. However she took my blood pressure several times and it was High 140/100 she said she didn't want to put me on BP meds yet, because I meet with the lap band center docs 7/15 (first visit) and to see if it will be high then. She said that if it is high she wants me on meds and wants to see me in september to recheck it. She also said she would be in touch with them regarding this. I have never had any BP issues before except during pregnancy when I was borderline pre eclampsia. I was curious to know if anyone else has had this happen to them and if it resolved without meds.? Is this a comordity? I am pass the 40 bmi and am more worried about my overall health. I REALLY dont want to have to be put on meds if I can help it. P/S she was totally on board about my LB decision and said she is glad that I am being pro active about my health.
  16. Hope all goes well tomorrow, Tonight when I say my prayers I am going to add you guys in, and pray for a speedy recovery for her. Keep us posted.

  18. Hi, I am not even close to having a surgery date or anything yet, but I was just curious if when people got there surgery if they used Vacation time from work or were they able to use short term disability? If you did use STD did how much % of your check did they give you? Also how long were you out of work on average? Thanx
  19. HI, its great to see fellow Bostonians and people from Mass doing so well with the Band... I am just starting I have my psych eval and nutritional apt with Tufts NEMC in 2 weeks exactly. I am starting to get nervous LOL. When I got the appointment at first I thought "Jeesh why so far away" and now I am like wait I need more info is this Really what I want to do?? But the answer is YES. I NEED to do this and I know this and my anxiety about the whole process is getting the better of me. I feel relieved hearing about everyones experience the Highs and Lows. And am trying to calm my nerves LOL. I wish I knew more people who got banded at Tufts Nemc... But thats ok, I can just share my experience and hopefully help the next person...
  20. Anyone get there Band done at Tufts N.E.M.C and if so which surgeon and how did you like the program??
  21. LMAO, I am not that informed yet and even I think that sounds farfetched... tell the "nurse" she has more chance of her having explosive diarhea, then Your lap band exploding.
  22. This might be a silly question... What about if your eating spicy foods? Usually I enjoy spicy hot foods but have to have a drink handy... Can you still eat spicy foods after bandage or is that something I will have to give up:crying:
  23. Thanx for all the suggestions. I'm going to go pick up a few of them... I never thought about this but after reading an earlier post I was just curious are there cookbooks out there too??
  24. Hi, This site is a great source for information... but I was curious if anyone read any books on the lapband surgery and or WLS in general and if they had any suggestions. I dont usually get much personal computer time at home or at work, so a book would also help me when I cant get online. Thanks
  25. I love it!!! BTW I signed your guest book.. Good luck
