Dr. told me I'd only lose 50% of my excess
I also started out at a 40 BMI I am now 5 months out from surgery and almost ready to hit my 50 pound mark (hopefully this weekend)! That puts me half way to my overall goal!!! I would honestly be thrilled just to loose another 30, but 50 would be amaizing and that is what I'm going for long term! It is up to you - how committed you are, if you work out, follow the rules etc - I have no plans of stopping the loss anytime soon myself!

Lap band life
I've given up on breakfast unless it is yogert etc - on a very rare occasion I can get a few bites in - usually i drink a warm protein drink and that seems to loosen me up and by lunch I can eat something

Struggling with my protein, Please help me my wise friends!
Not completely true - it depends on many things - when you last ate protein, your metabolizm, and your general body make up - it can range anywhere from 20g -60g depending on the individual. Everyone is different and a one size fits all apporach is just not accurate.

Struggling with my protein, Please help me my wise friends!
I could not get mine all in by eating it either so I gave in and I drink one Protein drink - I mix it with Water and no sugar added hot chocolate mix and drink it in the am on my way to work - replaces coffee and it is 30 grams of protein (it is the vanilla lean mass builder from GNC) right off the bat to start the day - plus it tastes great :tongue_smilie: The pre-made EAS chocolate is also GREAT - i love these as a back up and at Sams they are a good deal!

Who has been too tight and stalled out?
I got my second fill a little over two weeks ago now and I have been SUPER tight (eating maybe 6 bites for meals and too much PB for my taste), but I have been toughing it out... I lost great the first week and after that I have really stalled out - Talking to my team today the think I should have .5 CC removed as I might be in more of a starvation mode... Anyone else had this problem... It seems so contridictory, but if that is what I need to do to get moving so be it... it is so frustrating to eat very very very little and see no movement!! I feel really good as far as never being hungry, but I am not eating much and feel pretty bad after just several bits.. I probably should not have been so stuborn and should have had some removed earlier, but I thought I could make it work... this isn't supposed to be easy right Any one have thoughts - do you think this is possible or should I tough it out longer and see... who has had some removed and got back to losing again after being too tight? Any encouragement? THANKS!

Question to those w/ band about pre-op diet
I had a two week liquid optifast diet - my Dr. ok'ed a real meal the night before surgery so I had a little pizza :scared2: Other than that no I did not cheat.

Bad surgery day stories
Everything went awesome for me except I did not react well to the anestesia - made me very sick! Also my pain meds (lortab) made me really sick so I switched to children't motrin on day two (I also had my tonsils removed at the same time as my band and that hurt SO badly I didn't even notice the band work) I had virtualy no pain from my banding - just getting in and out of bed or bending - I was in at 8am and home by 4pm so can't complain!

Shopping list to get ready for post-op
My surgery is Thursday of this week!!! I need to go shopping for things I might need for the next several phases so I am ready to go!!! What did you shop for for the first few phases of the diet and each catagory below? I am also having my tonsils removed at the same time and I am SO much more worried about that then the band! I have to avoid anything red (popcicles etc) due to the tonsils early on! Anything you can put under these catagories (what you shopped for or what you ate) will be so helpful!!! I do have some Protein powder and will have some Optifast shakes left as I am not getting them all in at this point and will have a few leftovers. 1) liquids 2) Mushies 3) Comfort Items or med supplies

How often did you weigh yourself on pre-op diet?

Pre-Op Diet
I am on Day 6 of my Optifast liquid diet - doing great - it is getting easier every day - 8 pounds down in 5 days - can't complain about that - I have noticed that when I snuck a wheat thin (only one) it didn't even taste good - I think it is killing off my tastebuds - I am even having a hard time some days remembering to get my shakes in....Mine is a 14 day diet.

Adult tonsillectomy
I am also interested - I have my tonsillectomy and lap band set for June 18 - wondering how they will work out together... I am so excited, but also fearful of the tonsillectomy - I am hoping that by doing both at the same time it is one time under, one time on pain meds, and one set of time off work - also I think the diet (or lack there of) will match up well for both- my surgeon has done a band and tonsils together once before - my ENT will do the tonsils and my surgeon with do the band... eekks!

Your June 2009 Surgery Date
