    Exercise Sucks and other thoughts....

Beer oops empty calories for sure. I can only drink 1/4 of one it is the carbonation that kills me. Eat healthy and clean real food. I started exercising when I lost half of the weight I wanted to lose. I must exercise now to maintain. Make all the calories count. Protein first, small amounts of real food. I try to stay away from processed foods. I have a food addiction and I am in recovery from my recent "Nip and Tuck". All I think about is food. Best wishes imaluckydog

    Taking flight any suggestions?

I do not think you will have any problem taking powder mixes with you. You will need to bring something to mix the powder drinks in. Hotels do not have very big cups in the rooms. I took all kind of pills with me and vitamins with no problem what so ever. Best wishes imaluckydog

    First Blog Post

Keep blogging all your thoughts this is the place my friend. I remember when I first started this journey. You sound just like me! I was worried about every little step of the way. I also started blogging my feeling and thoughts it helps and you can go back and read about your own progress. I have now been banned for 2 years and have lost 110 pounds. I have just had my "Nip and Tuck" and the recovery has been harder than the band. This is a special place and you can say what ever is on your mind here. I chose not to tell anyone outside my family about my band. I needed people like me to talk too. I got so much support on this site and I have gone back and re read all my blogs from the beginning. My journey has been very exciting. Best wishes on your journey. imaluckydog

    Taking flight any suggestions?

I flew 2 weeks after being banded. They let me bring one closed liquid protein drink on board plane had to buy drinks when I got to my destination. They are very strict do not plan to bring to much you will have to throw it away. I was fine flying I had no problems with my band. Stay hydrated that is all. Happy travels and best wishes imaluckydog

I am banded two years now and I love your story. I also try to find ways to fool my band. Hehehe ... But as you know we really can't do that for long. My band always will get the best of me and let me know who is in charge. I love my band and my new body. Happy Bandversary to you and keep blogging you are an inspiration to all of us out here in Bandlandia. Best wishes imaluckydog

Anxiously waiting and down to the wire

I had the same thing happen to me. I was to have my surgery on July 29, 2009, and it got moved up because I was ready and they had an earlier appointment. My insurance had not come thru yet either. I was on phone with the hospital people everyday. It turns out I was approved the day of my surgery that morning of June 27, 2009. Keep the faith I hope it all works out for you. Best wishes imaluckydog

Happy, Happy Second Band-Birthday to me ;-)

Today is my Birthday! Happy Birthday to me I <3 my band. I have never been happier in my life, well maybe when my two children were born! I was banded June 29, 2009, and have lost 100 pounds and kept it off. I have gained and lost up five, down ten, but never any more. I have had many Fills and many Unfills. I have been so tight it was painful. I have been so loose it was scary, because I was able to snack with no control. I have tested my band to the limits. My band works when I work with my band. I have learned how to eat real food, not too much, mostly plants, with proteins first. I choose to prepare all my own foods. I enjoy cooking now. I enjoy eating SLOW! I am healthier and my family is healthier today. I am three weeks into my recovery from my full body Nip and Tuck. My Lap band surgery was way easier and faster to recover from than this. My stitches and tape come off next week, four weeks of R &R, I have enjoyed it. I have excellent insurance and it paid for everything except what they consider cosmetic. I had to pay very little in the big picture. It was well worth it as far as I am concerned. I have a NEW Better BODY. I have to look hard to see that it really is me in the mirror. I have new clothes and I would do this over again if anyone asked me. I want to give Best Wishes to anyone who may be considering this journey. I know when I started, I read, and read, and blogged and blogged it helps. I am grateful for this site I know it has helped me and my journey has been so much more successful because I have been able to write about my ups and downs along the way. Happy Birthday to me I am proud of myself today. When I blow my candles out on my cake tonight it will be wishing the best for all the newbies. Thanks to all my LB buddies I love you. imaluckydog

    2 1/2 weeks post op

This tool will start when you start to work with it. Eat less...Drink water slowly. First get your head on properly and cop a positive attitude that you want this to work for you!! Have your entire body, mind and soul in ready ACTION to this I mean every second of every day be ready. You must want to lose, you must think like a loser and you will be a loser. I have gained with this band it can be done YES you can gain. May I recommend you want to lose more than gain. You will feel so much better. I do know what I am taking about. I have lost 110 pounds and I just had my 2 year Bandversary. I feel really good now and my MOTO is to eat small to be small. Eat real food, not too much mostly plants, with protiens first. I am small today. Best wishes on your journey. imaluckydog

I must have not been paying attention ..... again

Yes, I agree I do not drink any soda or Pop I tried and I do not feel good when I do. As far as the straw goes I have used one every day for the past two banded years and do not have any problems. Everything I drink is thru a straw. Maybe it is the combination of soda and a straw that has ill effects. Best wishes everyone. imaluckydog
  20. It is my two year Bandversary. I was banded June 29, 2009 and I was running around Disney World in Florida with my daughter less than two weeks after being banded. I have as much if not more energy today as I did back then. Being banded was so exciting. This past Monday was my full body "Nip and Tuck". Yup, I went for it!! It was considered a medical necessity and my insurance paid for three fourths of it and I paid the rest because it was deemed cosmetic. I probably would have paid for it all because I wanted it that bad. It is better to have the insurance pay for it. I can buy new clothes with the money I saved. I will need new bras for sure. I have gone from a DD to a B/C I am looking pretty perky! My waist is no longer a double muffin top if you know what I mean. It will take a few weeks for all the swelling to go down. I am sore but the pain medicine is working just fine. I was so scared to have this done and now that it is I am trying to figure out why I was worried sick about it. I can get up and walk around and I can do stairs and sit up for a spell. I am tired and need to rest but that goes hand in hand with any surgery. I have to lay low for at least 2 weeks. I can do that. All is well and if you have any questions I'd be glad to help you out for imaluckydog just playing with my BAND. Best wishes

    Oh yeah!

what a great feeling! I cried when I could no longer get my size on that side of the store. I cried out loud and three sales people came in and said Honey you can't get your size on this side. I still like bringing in my clothes to try on in the larger womens side cuz it makes me feel good. Today is my 2 year Bandversary. I have never n=been hapier in my life. I love my lapband. Best wishes to everyone. imaluckydog

    Surgery day and post op

You GO GIRRL, That is the way to do it!! I am coming up on my 2 year Bandversary on June 29. I has been a amazing journey. I feel it is all in the attitude I have taken from the start. Keep your head in the game and play well with your band. Even after 2 years of being banded, I must remember to chew, chew, chew, to beat the band and eat real slow. I take my time and enjoy my food more with every bite. I have made the decision to eat real foods, not too much, mostly plants with proteins first. I hardly ever eat anything out of a prepared package. It is more work but I am worth it. I am having my “Nip and Tuck” on Monday and I feel like I am being banded again for the first time. All the nerves are back. I sure hope this goes as well as being banded did for me. Best wishes imaluckydog

    Blogging

Bravo, I read your story and heard you loud and clear. Make the best choice and make it count! I have been at this for two years now and I am still learning. I had an Un-fill once just to see how I would feel if I could eat just a little more. Guess what! I started to gain, I even gain twenty pounds with the LB. I went back in for a fill and have made better and healthier choices with my food and physical activity. You are correct it is all about the choices we make. I was so mad at myself for gaining twenty pounds but I needed to do that to get me back on track. I have two children a boy 22 and a girl 21. Our beautiful Black Lab died the month I got my Lap band and I have been unable to have another pet. I miss her daily. I have kept off 110 pounds and wear a size 10/12. I am about five two and weighed 250 and a size 24 when I started this journey. I am a living proof that LB works if you take the time to work with your band. Best wishes on your journey. imaluckydog

I enjoyed reading your bog and keep writing you are good at it!! Blogging helped me lose my weight. If you write people will read! They may not comment but they do read! If you write you will lose! More people who write tend to lose more weight, and keep it off!! I was banded 2 years ago on June 29,2009. I would do it again. I am very happy I have even gone back to re-read what I have written two years ago and people will comment because they take the time to read thru what you write. It helps you organize your thoughts and you are able to set goals. You may even follow other bloggers like I have, they become friends. Writing also helps others who read because what you say may or may not help others identify with themselves. Writing is so healthy for you, when I started out I read and wrote almost everyday on this site. Making a comment to others also validates you, keep it positive and meaningful, you have something to say and you are worth saying it. I have kept off 110 pounds and I will be having my Nip and Tuck on Monday June 27,2011. I am scared to death. I know I want this extra skin gone. Like you said this is a journey and we are all on a path and I have been know to say I am creating my own destiny everyday. Best wishes on your journey. imaluckydog
