Welcome hocker and dtrmnd07, I just added you both to the list...except now I see that I misspelled dtrmnd07 LOL.. I'll fix it I'm so excited for everyone that has a date.... I am getting REALLY antsy because I KNOW my doctor has my approval letter and it is just a matter of them finding the time to schedule me!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have only a slim chanced of making February, and at this rate I may NOT even make March!!!! FRUSTRATING, but I know it will happen. Thanks for all the updates wanna_be_ thin! Glad your doing well.

1. Are you insured or self pay? 2. If Insured you need to find out if your employer's contract covers surgery for obesity specifically CODE: 43770 (gastric band) 3. If self pay, find a surgeon, attend a seminar and follow their plan (all are different) 4. If insured and you ARE covered find out what is needed for authorization.... (psych eval, nutrition eval, supervised diet.. etc) Good Luck! For me it went like this: Found out it WAS covered Researched a surgeon in my insurance network Attended a seminar Attended a consult with the doc rep from doctors office called my insurance to verify and get the list of requirments Had a psyc eval Had a nutrition eval waited for letters to be sent to doctors office (the insurance coordinator) She sent packet off to my insurance They called her to verbally approve me Letter was sent to me and hospital I faxed letter to surgeons office Now I'm waiting for the scheduler to call me with a date.

Welcome Reesh!!!!! I just got my approval letter in the mail yesterday and I faxed it over to my surgeons office...... now all that is left is for the person to SCHEDULE ME!

However, I'm a little concerned.... they do list the 12/31/2007 date, and they DID NOT send a copy to my doctor, instead they sent it to the HOSPITAL. I called my surgeon and they told me to fax it over...... I did We shall see.............. maybe if I hold my teeth just right I will get a call today! :biggrin1: Thanks to everyone who is out there in cyber land rooting me on!

I personally don't but I have read about others who have done so..... Good luck with your decision and keep us posted.
