Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Haydee: where did you find those crackers? Sounds right up my alley! Laura my anethesia bill came yesterday and it was $1394.00 but it is pending insurance. This may sound strange, but I gave my lunch (soup) away today.... we have a new employee that started and for some reason I feel responsible for her. She is an english woman who is here with a permanent resident status, she is hearing impaired,(very good lip reader) and a licensed massage therapist trained in the UK...... OK.. so she came in looking for work. Applied as a C.N.A. (SHE IS WAY MORE qualified than some who walk through my door) I got her an interview but she totally blew it by being nervous and our DON and Head Nurse were turned off....... she REALLY needed a job.. she walks here and has always been on time for her appointments... OK.. I might mention that my boss even went to bat for her with the D.O.N. to no avail............ ok, so Friday I'm in need of a temp Housekeeper for ONE MONTH..... (LightBulb) I thought of her...... I called job service and her counselor told me she took a temp job at KMart because she needed to pay her rent. I told her counselor that I wanted her for a temp (possible hire in June) I basically jumped through hoops with her counselor to get her here today....... I blew off the temp service I was all set to use, I tracked down her app from the D.O.N. and I "talked her up" to the Housekeeping director.... I think once trained she will be a very loyal and responsible employee...... You can tell she is a proud woman, I don't know how she ended up here in Leavenworth Kansas but I know that she is having a hard time finding employment because of her extreme hearing loss.... This morning I noticed that she brought an apple for her lunch. She dressed in scrubs but they were purple because that is what she had.. (our housekeepers wear blue scrub tops) So after they had assigned her a trainer and a cart I gave her my two cans of soup at hand that I had with me and told her that I was getting ready to go on vacation and needed to get rid of them... (she looked very grateful as she blushed) I then asked her boss if they had any extra scrubs for her to use.. they didn't but shortly after I asked.. her boss came up with some petty cash to go get some. At my lunch, I ran over to Walmart and was able to purchase two scrub tops for her use. I am worried that some of the housekeeping crew will not be nice... (they are a closeknit near retirement bunch that can frankly be as petty as school girls) The gal that is training her is one of my favorites on the crew and I made sure that she knew I appreciated her taking the time to patiently train her. So I'm HUNGRY!!!!! LOL

I'm really looking forward to it... it will be a true VACATION MODE test! ONE NSV .... last night DBF went to Dairy Queen and I got NOTHING.. Denise(Adorable) WOW!!! We are true band twins! I am down 25 lbs (since starting my pre op diet April 2) I faced my first buffet last night and did REALLY good.... 1 plate with a little of everything soft and some salmon.... I DID NOT FEEL miserable and I was able to enjoy a meal out with my boys. Tonight I had 1/2 a grilled hamburger (mixed in ranch seasoning) and ketchup VERY, VERY, VERY slowly and I'm OK!

Well Violets.. I'm getting ready to head out for the night..... we have to pick up dbfs boys and that takes all evening. Have a great night and a greater weekend! NOTE: I was so full from that 1/2 frozen cap, that I have yet to eat ANYTHING... but now my tummy is hungry. OH.. and one piece of wisdom my doc shared today is......... "Remember, just because our stomach growls, doesn't ALWAYS mean that we are hungry!"

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Ok... so I am now known as the crazy lady who chased down the doc at the hospital wanting COFFEE.. LOL Seriously though he said I was doing fantastic and ok'd me to go to the next level of food... (Soft foods) fish, eggs, cottage cheese, soft pasta's etc... and next week I get to move on to "regular" food! I saw a young gal sitting in the lobby looking at me pensively and clutching her consultation folder.. she was shy but I knew she was curious so me and my big mouth I started a conversation with her... we talked til she was called back... ..... then I saw one of the ladies I was banded with.. this lady had a BMI of around 80+ and in the hospital she threw a big ol honking fit at the barium swallow.. she was miserable...... so when she walked through the door I was unsure if I should say anything............ BUT I DID ANYWay.. I went up to her and said.. "HI, I am the crazy lady from the hospital that was banded with you"..... She was vERY friendly and said for two days she was whipped but she felt great..... I told her about my bean incident and she laughed... she even moved over by me and we happily chatted til it was my turn to go back. I wasn't really quiet because I KNEW that others that were curious were listening too...... LOL So THEN after having the doc tell me I could move up and that I was doing fantastic....... I decided to treat myself and I stopped by Quik Trip and got a frozen cap....... (yes I KNOW!!!!!) but listen.. I was very proud of myself. 1. I bought a small even though it was MORE expensive than the 32 oz they had on sale! 2. I drank exactly HALF and put the other HALF in my freezer.... BIG NSV! Househuntress: I like spicey stuff too... but it gives me the worst heartburn so I stay away. OH and I almost forgot.......... I was able to SCHEDULE 4 Fill appointments!!!!! June 4th, July 2nd, July 30, August 27! WHOOOOOOHOOOOOO!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
GOOD MORNING! I had 4 pages of post to read, and there are things I want to say to each of you, but I would be writing a novel.. ONE THING TO REMEMBER................ IT'S FINALLY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I have my 1st post op appointment today. I'm curious to see how the doc/nurses respond to my loss... I know their scale will weigh heavier than at home....... but I THINK they recorded me at 270 in January..... I wore LITE clothes today.. LOL This week I've been doing great on the weight loss.. I sure hope it keeps up for at least a while longer. I forget who mentioned it earlier this week.. but I've been feeling that WIERD Fullness at the top and GROWLING at the bottom. I think this has something to do with the "hunger sensors" that are at the top of the tummy.. we have a small stoma so those "sensors" get turned off quicker, but the rest of our belly... is LIKE FEED ME and it growls, but we are not really hungry..... WIERD but interesting. I know that in my former pre band life I could never survive on the amount of food I'm currently eating.. I would be feeling sick and dizzy and have head aches....... but I can actually feel my belly shrinking.. and it is sooooooooo nice to KNOW that I'm on my way... REMEMBER our bodies lose in CYCLES........ pounds THEN inches. I'm leaving in 10 minutes... be back after lunch!

Sara! Don't beat yourself up woman!!! We are all in a major learning curve right now...... I just fixed myself 3 scrambled eggs......... WHY would I eat 3 scrambled eggs ????? but the portion looked sooooo tiny.. I ended up eating about 5 or 6 SMALL bites before I just fed the rest to my son... I was so freaked out about repeating the bean incident I basically chewed the eggs til they were soup......... (now doesn't THAT sound tasty???? :fish: ) Dbf asked me if I was FULL.. I thought about it and said.. Well, I'm NOT hungry anymore..... and THAT myfriends is what I think we are SUPPOSED to do... quit stuffing til we are full or in a bandsters case OVERfull. It will be a good experiment to see how long til my tummy grumbles again. And Judy.. your right.. I know that person at the bottom of my sig is NOT the TRUE Tracy... merely the shell of the happy, healthier one that is underneath and is set to be SET FREE this summer!

OK.. I'm getting real sick of looking at my fat self in my signature... problem is.. those are the PROGRESS pics that I took... today would be a better day....... as my hair is fixed and so is my makeup... (more like my Avatar, except my hair is growing out)......... and my surgery day pic was taken at 3:30 a.m. before leaving for the hospital..... What WAS I THINKING....... but the worst is my pre op...272 and looking miserable feeling miserable feeling like a big fat failure AGAIN... that was taken on a Sunday before I started my preop diet... and I had just faced the scale for the first time in a LONG time...... I know they will get better as the month go on..... ok done whining now

New member of Lap-Bands - Surgery Date Set
GOOD LUCK! I'm guessing the APRIL 29 date was a type since it has passed..........

Are there any Banders w/PCOS - has it helped symptoms?
PCOS here! What help my PCOS is eating Lower Carb/ Lower Sugar..... I'm assuming the band will help in the fact that I am going to be eating less EVERYTHING including carbs! Seriously though....... I had wacky periods, LOOOOOOONNNNG infertility history ... monitoring my carb/sugar intake straightened all this out and I'm now even a mom..

Same day surgery? Not here :-(
Insurance required me to stay overnight, followed by a barium swallow the next morning. I was released by 9:00 a.m. My doc allows the self pay patients to do it as an outpatient but like he said... WHY?????? The dishes can wait til you get home~

Why Lapband??
1. Least invasive WLS 2. Surgery on Thursday and I was back to work the following Monday. 3. If I get complacent down the road and start getting sloppy with my eating I can GET A FILL and have restriction again 4. If my health requires it.. (pregnancy, need to go on steriods, etc.. ) I can have a complete unfill and then resume when the condition ends. 5. Very low complication rate. (these boards often draw the negative and isn't a true estimate of the ENTIRE lap band community.. most are out living their lives and not focusing on their weight) 6. If necessary band can be removed and in a lot of cases converted to a new band... 7. INSURANCE APPROVED ME!
