wheres the energy gone?
In know I have given up caffine which I love coffee especially starbucks...so that quick pick me up is not there. I am just hoping that it gets better really soon! All of my kids birthdays are in june so I need extra energy this month and it is not happening. It is hard trying to chase after them and my patience is also low and I hate the feeling of being snippy with my kids (my oldest just turned 7 on june 6, my baby boy will be 1 on june 20th, and my middle girl will be 3 on june 28th). ann but please do ask about this at your group tonight. Thank you fellow banditos!

wheres the energy gone?
Well as of tomorrow I will have been banded for 3 weeks. But I am having a problem with my energy level. I go to bed around midnight and have problems now with waking up even at 8 am. I never really had problems getting up early before. then around noon I feel like im going to fall over asleep at work. then I get home (My 3 kids go to work with me too) and deal with the kids and still feel like i need a nap. I hardly have any strength to get anything done. does any one else have this problem? Is it because my body is still adjusting to everything? Is there something that I can do to get more strength up? please any suggestions would be greatly appriciated...Hopefully I will be awake to read them...j/k...lol:tongue2:

How do you know when you have eaten too much??
Linda I was banded the same day as you. I am on soft foods till the 26th. But I am having the oppisite problem, mentally I am starving myself and only eating around 400 calories a day. My husband got on me yesterday about starving myself and I am trying to get my calories up to at least 1000 but I find it hard because Im afraid of getting sick with a food that doesn't agree. plus I guess I just want to lose weight but I know starving myself isn't the way to do it. I actually didn't realise I was doing that untill my dh talked to me at lunch time at work yesterday. Now I see that is why I have not lost weight in over a week. i will keep working on it. I guess I should try to talk to a dietician. I was banded in mexico so I will have to find one here in phoenix.

First Fill Experiences For The Mayo BANDitos
Ann, Thank you for the suggestion. I will try to up my calories to see if that helps (at least it might give me more energy to go through the day with 3 young kid). I talked with my husband a bit ago and he agrees to...he says he think subconsously I am trying to starve myself to lose weight. I dont mean to but I will make an effort to be more aware of what my body does need! I guess this a total learning experience and I do appriciate the wonderful support I get from the Mayo Banditos!

First Fill Experiences For The Mayo BANDitos
I was banded on may 29th and I have my first fill July 11. Im a little nervous about needles and the fact that a couple days later my husband and I are driving to las vegas for out 8 yr anniversary!!!! I dont feel any restriction lately but I hardly eat due to being afraid of getting sick. I take in about 350 to 500 calories a day and the scale has not moved in over a week. Im trying not to get too frustrated...especially because I was getting obsesive about the scale so my husband hid all the scales in the house last week. In a way I guess it is good that way my daily attitude won't be dictated by what the scale says! have a great day banditos!!

port incision question
well I got a hold of the doctor and she told me it is the body liquids from surgery and loosing weight that are trying to get out. She said the body looks for the easiest and fastest way to get it out and sometimes it is through the post incision. It is not infected or sore it is actually almost healed but still lets out a lot of liquid. what is kind of funny is they told me to tape a maxi pad to my stomach to absorb all the drainage! They said this is very common and not to worry unless the insicion was raised up red and sore which it is none of these. so I guess I will just have to wait fot it to stop draining. But I am so excited 11 days post op and down 25 pounds and have no desire to eat. I have to force myself to have a protein shake each day and maybe a little soup. I know it wont last forever but they said enjoy loosing while I can till my first fill! Have a happy wensday Banditos!!!!!:ihih:

port incision question
Ok I dont want to gross anybody out but I have tried calling my nurses all weekend and just need to see if anyone else has gone through this. I was banded on the 29th of my and saturday I was up and about all day and then went out with family that night. I came home started getting ready for a shower and noticed my port incision draining a lot of liquid ( i mean a lot) as I took a shower it got worse. the thing is it does not look like infected pus. it was slightly blood tinged and clear but oily. I put medicine on it and a bandage so to stop it during sleep. well before I ever had the surgery I ready somewhere that that happens but what it is is the fat is melting so fast that it comes out the wounds. Im not sure but would like to know if this has happened to anyone else...?????

Crushing Bitter Pills/ good suggestion
I gag an almost throw up everytime I have to take my sntibiotics. I was told yesterday to crush it and put it in apple juice. It was so bad that I almost vomited after dry heaving. I dont think I can take these without sever nausea. I will see if I can get some carrot juice and try that. hope it helps me

would like to know
thank you for the responses. i talked to my nurse and we think we figured out the problem. I really get sick everytime i stand up it feels like so much pressure on my tummy. but then we relized it was due to my chest. lets just say I am very large there (a size j) and even with a sports bra it puts too much weight on my healing tummy. They say I need to try to find something to help me keep my chest higher off my stomach. my husband tinks hes funny by saying he could duct tape me! I would like to find a differant solution..lol. if you have a suggestion im all ears.

would like to know
I would like to know if any of you experienced nausea everytime you try to sip a little broth. I have got nasiated on the smallest amount. to the point that since I have had surgery I have probably only had about a measuring cup full in 4 days. does this happen to everyone. becuase of this I don't even want to eat anything. thanks for the help in advance!

wound care
my doctors have me change my bandages everyday and put neosporine on the gauze before I put it back on the incisions. Im ony 4 days out but the incisions look great! I was told not to put maderma on till the wounds were closed due to risks of infections. hope this helps

I am only 3 days out...but I know I will miss bread..I am a carb aholic. give me a sleeve of saltine crakers and a glass of milk and I am good. actually any bread with butter or garlic...mmmmmmm. great now im hungry..lol:biggrin:
-
OMG I am soooo hungry!
linda I had my surgery in the afternoon on the 29th. My stomach has been so sick that I have only had a few sips of broth since then..I dont know if it is the gas pains in my chest or digestion but it really upsets my tummy to have anything but water. I cant wait for the gas pains to go away!!!!!

iM BACK FROM TJ MEXICO
yeah I did over do it yesterday but had no choice with having a late plane flight. today I am taking it easy and feeling much better. The gas was worse then I expected. ecspecially in the shoulders and when it gets caught in a ball in your chest. gas x strips have helped but I think what has helped most is the heating pad. the heating pad is my new best friend. how long does it typically take for the gas to go away?

iM BACK FROM TJ MEXICO
Well I got back late last night. we left tj mexico at about 10:30 am and then went to san diego. Our plane flight back to phoenix was not till 6:40 pm...so we walked around all day. not the best idea. Half way through the day I was so sick to my stomach form the gas and the pressure of my chest pushing on my stomach. By the time I got on the plane I thought I would throw up. But we got back to Phoenix about 8 pm I was so sick but after relaxing for a bit and taking pain meds I was doing much better. with the help of a heating pad I slept better last night and am feeling much better today. It just goes to show that it does not pay it over due it after surgery. But I am happy to be home and I am officially a MAYO BANDITO!!

surgery tomorrow May 29th!!!
Well the count down is on. I have been doing so well the last couple weeks with staying focused and not trying to worry about the surgery...but today, knowing that tomorrow I have surgery im getting butterflies in my stomach. Im affair by the time I get off the plane tomorrow I will be a nervous wreck! I cant wait to start a new healthy life but I hate the thought of surgery (I have had plenty of surgeries and always feel this way before hand). I have been following all the threads on the mayo banditos and it does give me alot of encouragement knowing how strong you all have been...and the strength you lend to one another! I know things will go fine just getting the pre op nervousness!

Does Anyone Else Have This Problem??!!
im just on the pre op diet and I find myself weighing once a day. I think im excited and want to see that im going in the right direction. I will have to stop that though becasue it can have a negative affect on my attitude if I dont see a change.
-
Are these things because of the pre-op diet?
I noticed that I got headaches for awhile and I think that is due to cutting out sodas and coffee...I do drink Iced tea but that is just a bit. I really think mine was caffine withdrawl. I have noticed that my hands start shaking every now and then. I really notice it when Im trying to type and cant hit the right key. My husband says thats from only having protein shakes for 6 days...its only about 600 calories. But doing much better now. I cant wait either FRIDAY will be here before we know it! Looking forward to a long happy life:party:
-
Sticking together
I too have to admit that all of the mayo banditos have been awesome. I feel that I can come here for strength when I need it...which will probably happen more in the upcoming days since friday is my day to become an actual bandito!!!! Being positive can go so much further than negativity. Congrats to all of us for our awesomeness:biggrin:. keep up the great work.

and may bandsters banded in Tijuana?
For anyone banded in tJ is it as scary of a town as people try to make it out to be? If I dont want to I dont have to leave the hospital. But they do say that the day after I can walk around Tijuana if I desire. Im pretty sure that I will stay in the hospital and hotel and not jurney out...but just wanted to know what others thought about it if they were there to be banded! oh and congrats to all the may banditos that have already been banded!:wink2:
