  1. I'm due for my first fill on 6/26. He's only putting in 1-2CC's. I have a 10CC band- I'm almost positive. And the way his assistant explained it ever so gently, you'll be eating real food by then, and then we're gonna throw a monkey wrench in your program:glare:. Good luck everyone!
  2. Oh girl. it's MoM time for you. Considering you've been on liquids, and Protein you should have at least had a marble or 2 followed by Diarreha. or as Medical professionals like to call it "loose stools". you shouldn't be constipated. I mean every other thread I've read and myself personally, go at least once twice a day. your most likely not hydrated enough or getting enough liquids in ya. I know it's hard and it's frustrating but it will get better, but Absolutly at this point take something to poop. Believe it or not, your Bowels aren't empty and it will keep you bloated.
  3. Everyone looks great so far... I posted mine in my profile *so far*...... It's amazing what 3 weeks of liquid dieting does, as well as going from eating everything in site in one sitting to the bare minimum to fill you... Good luck everyone can't wait to see more!!!
  4. My sentiments exactly. Welcome to our family. My first fill is gonna be on 6/26.
  5. ooh It will get better you guys trust me. The gas will ease up. Take your gas ex strips, drink plenty of water, and WALK!!! they aren't B.S'ing when they tell you to walk. The Protein shakes will kind of help,at least getting full. but Just take it easy. I slept the first 4 days and didn't really eat. Yes you will get a MASSIVE APPETITE at like day 3 or 4, but you'll learn as soon as you over-do it on the broth. Just keep Hydrated that will take away half the hunger pains. and if your bloated & still haven't done a #2 yet, time to take some MOM, that eases the gas a tad too. I'm 11 days out, still hungry but learning my limits, I had babyfood for lunch today and when I didn't walk 10 mins after finishing I blew up like a macy*s float. But DRINK DRINK DRINK your fluids.
  6. I have the hiccups and gas I feel like I'm about to spontaniously combust!
  7. O.k. So we did it on sat nite. NO PAIN- AT ALL. Fricken awesome. I guess like a month will do that to people.....
  8. hey Ann... Mine are too. Bacitracin will help heal quicker. keep them nice an coated. thats what my nurse told me.
  9. I was told that your puch can only handle 2-3 oz of liquids. Drink plenty of fluids, but You should know (or are getting to know) the "full" feeling. And to space out your "meals" over 20-30 mins. I too didn't get it until I got sick and almost passed out on my kitchen floor and then immediatly dumped (instant diarreah) DO NOT EAT AND DRINK AT THE SAME TIME, and, I was told to stop drinking at least 10-15 mins before you know your going to eat. using a Teaspoon, actually helped me slow down on eating the broths too quick. and distract yourself if you think your eating too fast. I ate applesauce yesterday *puree/mush stage* while I was in the middle of cleaning my house, so I would stop every few mins and take a spoonful. Hope this helps.
  10. 2 tablespoons of Milk of Magnesia. It's absolutley disgusting, but you'll feel better in a few hours. Drink PLENTY OF Water WITH IT, that will make it work quicker. If you had to flush your bowel the day before surgery, it's basically a less painful version of that, get the Cramp-free version... It doesn't matter what flavor (I bought the peppermint, it was more like pepper-ass) But, relief will come.
  11. I just ate the best friggan Polenta EVER!!!! And for $3.00 they gave me enough to get me through the next 2 days.... I was so good you guys!!!!! I ate the one little lump that was off to the side and took my sweet time eating it (been a problem for me spacing over 20 mins) I am so full it should be outlawed- OFF OF THAT LITTLE CHUNK! For those of you that don't know what Polenta is, it's basically cold grits- Italian style (no difference just refrigerated) Cornmeal, water and I tasted butter in there, with black pepper. So, I figured, I'll get creative tonight with some of the leftovers and add a little no sugar added (again no difference) Applesauce to it, "spice it up" a bit.
  12. Yes, from the chinese resteraunt. Umm, Kind of slimy, thats why I add Water to it. but it's really good with a little black pepper & one packet of duck sauce.
  13. You will be able to eat a quarter of a toasted pop-tart in a few weeks, as for the pretzel.... yeah thats a tuffy. BUT My sister who is the weight watchers goddess, has a recipe for cream cheese dipping sauce thats got like 1 gram of fat & no sugar!! and you can not tell the difference! so when I have the strength (as in major food weakness to overcome) to get that recipe I'll share it
  14. Hey Mac, I have the same problem, I'm the same height as you as well. Old Navy Makes these FABULOUS Tank tops with a built in shelf bra. I believe you can find them in the maternity section (yes I know) And they have adjustable straps. I believe Lane Bryant has them too, Not quite sure though (believe it or not, non of their stuff ever fit me properly) You can wear them as a camisol or like I've been doing under a low cut dress. Not the best in the support area, but they are def comfy and def bring the ladies up a notch.
  15. I had that too, and then got my period out of nowhere for the 2nd time this month. It could also be gas. Your going to find that farting feels like your organs are being rearranged, and Burping is even worse!!!! My doc told me if I don't go at least once a day for 2 days in a row, 2 tablespoons of Milk of Magnesia (and that shit is NASTY- Sorry I couldn't abreviate it, had to use the full word). I had to take it thursday night, and it worked. No runs, but a good one. so just keep an eye on your area, b/c Like I said, I got my period, and I saw on a few other boards that other people have too within a few days of their surgery, my doc said it's b/c of abdomin trauma and diet changes.
  16. I found this article while the AOL ticker ran across, That's Fit
  17. TRUST ME AND ANN- IT'S NOT WORTH IT. only I had it before I was banded and it was nasty, thank g-d it was free (the day oprah gave out the coupons) it was greasy on the top, and the meat was dry, and I haven't eaten chicken on the bone in like 10 years. I don't know if you have a local deli, or your local supermarket has a fully stocked deli counter, but a lot of places have grilled chicken cutlets (or bonless breasts). try those, they may be a little pricey, but at least you can get 2 meals out of one breast. It's funny because the few people I know here in NYC that have been banded all say that chicken is the HARDEST thing to eat, and a lot of the time it comes right back up. Let me know.
  18. That's been my big thing too. I attempted a bowl of apple sauce today, and Took 3 big spoonfuls in the span of 15 mins (ate while I was cleaning) and got lightheaded and nausious immediatly. Dannon Activia Yogurt came out with a "lite" version, it's just as delicious as the regular. And I'm doing the string cheese thing now, it's heaven, BUT it keeps getting stuck, even when I leave it out for 10 mins to soften up. here's a tip Singin': Diet Peach Snapple, Odwalla vanilla Al'Mondo Protein shakes, And I got this one from other bandsters: Strained Eggdrop soup- only I added about 2 tablespoons of water to dilute it and make it less salty. Especially if you get the scrambled egg cravings like all of us are getting!!!!! good luck.
  19. So glad to hear all is getting better for you. Just one day at a time, and at least now you know that you have help along the way, we all do! So things (except our weight!) can only go up from here!
  20. I got my bandages off yesterday, My stomach looks like it was in a bar fight! 14lbs down, just really bloated today for some reason. Enjoyed yogurt this morning, and apple sauce for lunch..... I'm kind of queezy, but I'm alright, had the hiccups before, that was a little painful and scary, and has anyone else noticed how painful it is when you yawn???
  21. yeah I drove the saturday I came home (2 days out) and decided I would give it a rest for a few days.... Just continue to take it easy.
  22. Mazal Tov, And welcome to the first day of the rest of your life! Just take it easy, I found a body pillow really helped me get comfortable laying on my side (use one for my hip anyway) Broth & protein shakes get tired fast, but YOU HAVE TO STICK WITH IT, because let me tell you, it is the sweetest sound when your doc tells you you can have Applesauce, oatmeal and yogurt. Just sleep and rest as much as you can. I slept for the first 3 days post-op. And as much as it hurts, Liquid tylenol helped a hell of a lot better then the pain meds I got. Good luck sista, and welcome!!!!
  23. I too went to my mom's house to weigh myself. and decided that I would wait until today (1 wk p/o visit) to see what my progress is. I was actually told to get a scale and a full length mirror (I don't have one:blink:) And weigh myself every thursday. They said as vain as that sounds, it actually helps in the long run b/c you are your own worst critic, and it's motivating... ummm, I guess ?????? So for this weekend, I will get the scale. And I'm going to be gym hunting in the next 2 weeks, as well as Getting some really comfy sneakers next week..... Takin it a step at a time/
  24. Absolutley. But I think I ate too fast lol (20 mins to eat) cuz now I'm kind of nausious and got an instant headache
  25. Literally, as I write this, I just put down a bowl of oatmeal with half the bowl still full. because I AM FULL (and kind of nauscious) I never thought in a million years I would ever say this, but it's the most amazing feeling in the world to just STOP and push the bowl away. and not contemplate finishing it. I am done. god bless science!
