  1. i was approved!!!!!!!!! So anyone that wants to know- family health plus of new york will approve your surgery!!!!! May 21st it's on!!!!!! I'm so excited now, that i can finally start my liquid diet and not be let down again!!!!!!! Apsolutly over the moon!!!!!!!
  2. Hey everyone, I've been on this board for about 3 weeks now, and Well, Though I've gotten a lot of post-op advice I can not find one single smidgen of help when it boils down to my insurance. I have Family health plus w/ medicaid. I'm currently awaiting approval from The insurance company (26 pages worth of notes were sent to them including a letter from my orthopedist (severe osteo-arthritis in my hip) as well as a sleep study I had done (sleep apnea) and a batch of other things no other 27 year old should have. My orig. Surg. date was may 7th. They moved it to the 21st b/c of my pcp & the insurance co. I am the first health plus patient my surgeon has seen. They gave me the referrals to see him with the obesity code as the reason. I just can't find anyone that has Health plus and has had the surgery. I know My answer is out there!!!!! So please step forward. This past week waiting for a response has been agonizing, I just don't want to go through next week (starting the liquid diet only to be told it's postponed again) dissapointed & starving! Let me know PLEASE?!?!?!?! Thanks
  3. It was suggested to me that the lean muscle Cappucinno flavor is really good, and the chocolate one (with your own banana's and strawberries thown in) As for mushy foods, I was told to stock up on organic baby food, just check the label for the suger count. The more Protein & Fiber the better. and because they come in like 4 oz jars you can get 2 meals out of it. And it's easy on the tastebuds. Hope that helps:wink:
  4. I'm so proud of everyone banded on the 7th (postponed until the 21st due to my lame insurance), As I'm supposed to be on here making my suggestions as well!, BUT I'm about to start the pre-op liquid diet tomorrow. I've worked my way down all week to mush, and as of 6 am, I dust off the blender. I am taking notes, and glad to see my homegirls spidey mom & halleluja girl are doing good..... wish me luck. Also, My doc says No cream soups and no red liquids, do to vomiting (they have to be able if your vomiting blood) soo hmmmm???
  5. I'm due to start mine saturday. I had already started it when I got the phone call that my date was rescheduled (from 5/7 to 5/21) It also bought me time to properly stock up on liquids and babyfoods for post op, and I strated gradually working my way down to liquids, figured instead of jumping head first into it. SO now, 3 days doing that, I'm down to basically 1 solid meal a day (dinner) and it's working. so by saturday I should be down to 2 liquid meals and a semi-solid dinner. My neutritionist said it's easier that way because you don't starve.
  6. Dr. Piotr Gorecki at Methodist in Brooklyn, I have Health Plus w/medicaid, and I have to see him in the Surgical clinic. He takes both, but I'm waiting for my approval right now since I am the first patient w/ health plus that he has ever seen.. I should know by this week considering my surgery date was moved from 5/7 to 5/21, and his assistant faxed over 26 pages of notes including 3 doctors letters for my co-morbidities htt://www.Drgorecki.com
  7. Don't feel bad, I got re-scheduled at 7:30am this morning, and I was supposed to have it done on thursday (5/7/09) I'm pushed back to may 21st now all because of my PCP's office and he didn't word his letter right. AND, His office wouldn't let me reshedule my april 24th appointment (which I showed up for ON TIME but the office was closed- without a phone call) so now there is a gap in my 6 months worth of notes. I'm LIVID:cursing: right now. But like the person a few posts said, thank god we're still getting banded. It just sucks they pushed you back until july. P.S- What a wonderful way to wake up eh? the phone ringing telling you it's not going to happen, after watching your entire family eat a good dinner while your sipping on chicken broth- starving!
  8. hello everyone.... I'm still a may'ster.... They changed my date at 7:30 this morning, I'm freaking out.. now it's pushed to may 21st... Has anyone else had this happen to them??? I don't know whether to be angry or cry or both.... Please help!!!!
  9. They changed my date by 2 weeks, Has anyone else been through this?????????? they're saying my notes are all wrong and that something to do with my insurance....
  10. Thursday the 7th as well, Will be praying for everyone on that day as well!!!! I go liquids tonight (should have done it this morning but had to get my last blast of sesame noodles in from this place next to my job) soooo dinner is going to be broth... and then some more tomorrow!
  11. I told my bosses and co-workers (including the other receptionist that is covering for me) that I'm having an ovarian cyst removed (would explain lower abdomin sutchers- as per my sister & girlfriends who actually had that done) So far, it's working, we'll see next monday when I go back to work (surgery is thursday (5/7)
  12. I'm 4'11 and 205, and also had to go through thte 6 months... I believe my insurence approved me, all my paper work is being submitted tomorrow by the surgeon and my insurence gave me the referrals to see him.... I too had to do sleep studies (b/c my arthritis wasn't enough of a factor) and come to find out friday that my pre-op testing proved that I have increased hemoglobin levels so my surgery should be a breeze.... 4 days and counting!
  13. I am!!! From Marine Park, Dr. Gorecki @ methodist is my surgeon, and I'm scheduled to have it done this thursday 5/7/09... Please let me know who did yours, and how your progress is... Sarah
  14. Hello gonnaride! Good luck with your surgery, Mine is scheduled for thursday (5/7/09) and your lucky. My surgeon Dr. Piotr Gorecki here in Brooklyn N.Y seemed very optomistic with me this past friday, and got all excited that my cholesterol levels were up b/c that means I'm 100% qualified for the surgery, due to the really crappy insurence I have. I wish you all the best and good luck, and we are now on this path together
