Not Sure What's Happening
It seems as though the stuck feeling isn't going away. This morning had some scrambled eggs with ham. I ate slow, and chewed completely. Its been several hrs now, and it feels like there is still something stuck??? It almost feels like I have heart burn, but without the burning, if that makes any sense at all. Its like the food is just sitting there or something. I haven't experienced any slimming at all. Could this be something other than food getting stuck?

Not Sure What's Happening
I had my 2nd fill last Tues, my doc added 2 cc's which brought it up to a total of 4cc's. Thursday I had what I think may have been getting stuck. I wasn't paying attention to my chewing, and I had terrible pain. It went down on its own, but there was a lot of bubbling noise, and it felt as thought I might vomit. Since then it seems that I get a little discomfort everytime I eat something that isn't soft. I don't know if I am eating to much or too fast, or if maybe I am just too tight. If I am eating too much than I can't eat more than maybe a 1/2 cup of food. I had very little to no restriction before my 2nd fill, so I have not experienced these feelings before now. I am really not sure what is going on...is what I am feeling getting stuck or being too tight?

Any Regrets After Lap Band?
My only regret is waiting as long as I did to get the surgery. Lap Band has worked great for me. I am no longer taking Metformin, my PCOS seems to be under control, I exercise, and have learned to eat healthier.

Fill questions - help?
My Dr had a hard time finding the port also. He said after some of the scar tissue goes down it should get easier.

What do you do for exercises?
I don't do videos, but I have FIT TV, I love it. I watch Sharon Mahn, she does all kinds of stuff, Kick Boxing, Power Yoga, regular Yoga, and I do the Bodies In Motion. I also do Belly Dancing, Hip-Hop Dance, I walk, and I ride my bike. The first 6 weeks after surgery I didn't do much but walk. I got bored with walking real quick which is why I record shows off of FIT. I am thinking of maybe starting going to the gym also.

7 weeks for first fill is this normal?!?!
My first fill was 6 weeks after surgery, and my first fill was only 1cc. I drink Special K protien water to help curb hunger. If I get too hungry then I will have a healthy snack. Fruit, veggies, LF cottage cheese, or LF/SF yogurt. I have noticed if I eat things that are higher in protien I don't get as hungry.

First Fill tomorrow!! 11cc band...
I got my second fill yesterday which brought me up to 4cc's and I can feel restriction pretty good at this point. I have no diet restrictions for fills. My surgeon just told me that I might want to softer foods the first couple days. As long as I chew real good I am ok.

please help
I do think HH can be a little controversial, but let's be honest here, it takes 2 (or more sometimes) to let an argument escalate. It is unfair to blame one person. Sometimes I don't like hearing what HH or some of the others who had problems with Lapband have to say. It scares the hell out of me, makes me wonder if I made the right choice, makes me second guess everything about my surgery. I wonder if I should have gotten the sleeve, or RNY. I especially don't like hearing that Lapband isn't meant to be a long term thing. When I hear these things, and I start to second guess things, I feel defensive. I want to react, but I choose not to. I can honestly say that sometimes I don't like what HH has to say, but he has also been supportive towards me even though I have Lapband. And to the OP sorry to get off subject, and congrats on your decision!!!!!!!!

Sepf-pay needs advice from post-op insured bandsters
I am self pay, and I had to do the phyc eval, which I thought was kind of a joke also. I did not have to do a lot of the other things that insurance requires. Only tests I had to do were the simple routine blood tests. The only pre-op diet I had was the 2 week liquid diet. My surgery went fine, and to be honest the phyc eval didn't do anything for me. I think the surgeon just wants to make sure that if you have any issues like eating disorders, or depression that they are dealt with as well. That's how the phy explained it to me.

Who measures food?
I measure my food, 1/2 cup meat, and 1/4 veg. If I go out to eat I don't measure. I am sure when I get more restriction and get used to the portion sizes I won't need to measure, but right now I feel more comfortable measuring my food.

Me and PCOS
15 lbs sice surgery is great. I lost quickly right before and after surgery. My weight loss has slowed down some. I try to stick to a low carb, low fat, high protien diet. My meals are about 3/4 cups of food. I stay away from potatoes, and bread, and try to limit my sugars. I drink tons of water, and I exercise almost every day. I noticed if I don't exercise my weight loss slows. I have very little to no restriction so right now its mostly will power to stick to the diet. If want any more info just let me know.

How is everyone doing?
I've lost 45lbs, but I am constantly hungry at this point. I had my first fill 2 weeks ago and my second isn't until Aug 25th. Its getting harder and harder to make good food choices right now. I think I am going to ask to have my appointment moved ahead.

severe bruising...
I had really bad bruising all around my incisions. Big purple bruises, pretty much my whole stomach was a bruise, and they were a little scarry looking. I didn't have any bruises on my hip though. I did have bruises everywhere they poked me though. Took weeks for it all to go away.

Port incision tenderness?
My port incision hurt for a while, still a little tender if pressure is put on it, and I had surgery June 5th.
-
I dont get it
I think it all depends on the person, what you eat, and whether or not you exercise. Also I do believe that at some point your weight loss will slow down.

Ditto...couldn't have said it better myself!

Getting started and have a choice to make.
I choose Lapband because I like the fact that if I had complications the Lapband can be removed. I did not like the fact that with the sleeve I would loose part of my stomach, or the risk of leakage. I never put much thought into bypass to be honest. Also I wanted a slower weight loss, and it seemed to be the right choice for me. I thought it over long and hard before I made my decision. I had surgery June 5th, so far no complications other than right now I get hungry, and that kind of sucks. If I had the choice to have the surgery done with no co-pay by a highly recommended Dr I would go that route, even if there is a wait.

please help
Thanks, its actually been about 8 weeks, 41 lbs including 2 week pre-op.

Do you burp all the time?
yep, burp and fart more now then I did before.

please help
I was banded June 5th, and have lost 41 lbs. I have only had one fill, and I still do get hungry. So if your looking for quick results, and no hunger the band may not be the right choice for you. There are pros and cons to all the WLS, I suggest you research them all and decide what is best for you. I choose Lapband because I wanted a slower weight loss, trying to avoid the extra hanging skin. Also because if I do have complications the band can be removed, and because I thought recovery time was less then the other surgeries. I misunderstood what the recovery time actually is. But that was a minor reason, I still would have gone with Lapband even if I would have understood recovery time was longer. I really considered getting the sleeve, I loved the idea of not being hungry, but hated the idea of having a portion of my stomach taken out. There were other reasons I choose to go with the band, but all in all mainly because it was the surgery I felt most comfortable with.

First Fill
Thursday July 16th was my first fill. It was one of the strangest things I have ever experienced. I had 1 cc added, and that brought it up to 2 cc's. My weight loss has slowed down a little bit, but my surgeon was impressed with the fact that I am still loosing at this point. I am still not sure how many calories I should be eating a day, but since I am loosing weight still, I will just keep doing what I've been doing. Some days I get so hungry it is hard to stick to the diet plan, but for the most part I am. I really want to hurry up and get to restriction, but I guess going the slow route is best. I also feel like I am stuck at the 230 mark, even before lapband I could not get below 230. It is very frustrating. I was loosing so quickly at first I thought I'd be down below 230 by now. I was hoping to be below the 200 mark by October, but maybe I am setting unrealistic goals, or at least unhealthy goals. Funny I was worried I was loosing too fast, now I am upset because I am loosing slower. It is quite the rollercoaster ride.

Will it be different after my first fill?
I had surgery June 5th, and had my first fill last Thursday. I had 1 cc in band, and now up to 2 cc. I feel a little more restriction, but still get hungry between meals. and I am pretty sure I can still eat just about anything, but I ty not to. My surgeon told me it will probably take a couple fills before I get to proper restriction.

No Longer Morbidly Obese
According to BMI I am now just obese. I am not sure why that sounds so much better to me, but it does. I have lost 40lbs now, and have dropped at least one size. My clothes are getting very loose, and some of my favorite things I can no longer wear. This is bitter sweet for me. Its ok if my casual clothes are loose, but my bartending clothes, and going out clothes need to fit right. I hate to spend more money on clothes right now, but I think I am goinng to have to. I also hate to give up some of the clothes I am going to ahve to give up, maybe I could find a seamstress or something. I doing great following my diet plan, except I have a hard time getting in all the water I need on the weekends. I have also started belly dancing which is really hard, but fun. I also bought a bike, and have been riding that starting out slow, and hopfully by the end of the summer I will be able to take it on trails. Thursday I get my first fill, and I am really nervous about it. I read so many posts where that seems to be where the trouble starts. I almost don't want to get the fill, because of that. I have had no problems at all, no vomiting, or PB'ing, no food intolerance, and I don't want that to change. :cursing:
