  1. I agree that it is not my right to impose my morals on anyone else. I would NEVER abort a baby, but I do understand there are worse things... Parents that raise children that they literally hate and never wanted. That is where child abuse can begin. Mothers that have children after using drugs the entire pregnancy. And yes, there are so many people that would love to adopt a baby, but I actually DO NOT agree with that when there are SOOOOOO many kids that are older that never get adopted because they are just too old. It is sad. So while I think abortion is wrong for me, I also know it is the right choice in many cases.
  2. I really don't think the welfare system should be looked at as the biggest problem. And I AM SURE I will make no friends by saying this... It is our entire social system. What makes it OK for a man to make a baby with a woman, only to NEVER give her financial support or walk away in the Friend of the Court system and pay CLOSE to nothing? We should be ashamed of ourselves. Over 50% of people on welfare are single mothers, who DO NOT recieve child support. If people had more responibilty for taking care of their own we would NOT be in this situation! It is the idelogical system that we have that makes it ok for a man to walk away free and clear. (And some women as well, it is not just men.) Women make .60 to men per dollar doing the SAME EXACT job. That creates a problem right away. It is the way it has always been. African Americans in 1950 were 3 times more likely to be in poverty, and guess what? They are STILL 3 times more likely today. The system does not change as a whole, that is the real problem. We can not point our finger at one thing and believe "POOF" it is fixed. Our education systems are to blame as well. Students in poor areas don't have books, computers, clean schools. Things that are instrumental in education. Their parents do not make enough to pay taxes into the school system to change it. Why not? Lack of education...from where? The same school system. It is a vicious cycle of the system. It is hard to get out of cycle. Lack of resources=Lack of education=Lack of job opportunities=Lack of FUNDS!
  3. Actually it was much earlier. Native Americans were killed for their land. IMMEDIATELY once we started to settle this land. It was the founding fathers. Our founding fathers also did ALL own African slaves. Not one of the 55 delegates disagreed with slavery, if you ever read our constitution you will see how our founding fathers really felt. Native Americans were not only not allowed to vote, but were not considered people at all. African were considered 3/5 of a person, not even a WHOLE person. If they escaped they were to be treated as PROPERTY not people. This still extends today. We are in the war because war is good for the ELITE of the nation, not the general public. I am a wife of a veteran and I still totally disagree with this war. I could go on and on, this is my thing. I encourage anyone that questions where this country REALLY stands, check out the census material in regards to income/race. It is shocking.
  4. WOW! I had no idea I would be in the majority being a liberal democrat!!

  6. OMG! You look awsome girl! Congratulations on the hard work and job well done!
  7. lol....I am so glad that I am NOT the only one going around mooning people! Thanks everyone for putting it into a better perspective! I did go shopping today and got new pants, and undies. I was embarassed by the white granny pannies....lol... I think I should start a new club. "The Accidental Flashers" And I am not selling the tickets, my hubby would be heartbroken. But I will be checking the clothes before we go now!
  8. Ok so I am a HUGE football fan. I have season tickets for my school MSU. I had every intention of getting myself to the mall this week to get some new jeans. My 28's are just too big now, but well I never made it. SO I had to wear these pants to the game. And couldn't find a belt. It rained and poured at the game. I had a slicker on, so I never thought about my bottom getting wet. Well those jeans were already TOO BIG, I mean I knew way too big. AND well, the rain would fall on my seat everytime I jumped up to cheer. Making them heavier and heavier each time. SO towards the end of the night, I jump up for a great play, and feel well a little drafty on my behind. NO SH*T they fell right off my butt. I could not even believe it. I freaked out and had no idea what to do. I was praying that no one saw until I heard a whistle behind me, you know the nice cat call. I sat down crying in embarassment and tried to pull the jeans back up. My DH looked at me and said "I guess the surgery worked hu?" OMG. I was horrifed. I wanted to get up and leave but I am in the middle of the row....and I was NOT passing anyone with those sagging jeans. I never got up for the rest of the game until it was over. I never want to go back to face those people. A lady from behind when we were leaving told me "Make sure you hold onto those." I wanted to die. I still want to die. I have never been so embarassed in my life. Now I have 2 things to do in the morning. 1. Sell my season tickets 2. Buy some new clothes Oh yeah #3, find some dignity somewhere! lol.....
  9. ANY OTHER store on the good given planet! LOL....I hate Wal-Mart. hmmm...... cold feet or cold hands??? (lol...can you tell I am freezing?)
  10. :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: Congratulations Carla!
  11. OMG!!! Adorable, goergeous, angelic just DO NOT even come close! I could eat her up! That first picture is just awsome! AWSOME! Congratulations to you and the proud papa!
  12. I can not break the water habit with meals, but I have considerably cut down. I used to drink 3-4 glasses, now about a 1/2 of glass. Anyone else just stuck??? :think I was doing awsome now I am working my a$$ off and can't even loose 1 pound.
  13. I am so nervous I am going to let one loose while I am teaching a class......grrr......
  14. I just had my first fill Tuesday but it was only .5 ccs because of the weight I have lost on my own. I tell you that cardio is the key. I work out everyday 45-60 minutes cardio. I also count calories, so it is almost like I don't have the band at all....lol.....it took my surgery for me to get serious. Don't worry it will happen. When did you have surgery?
  15. He was a surgeon. He actually was not the one that did my surgery though. My Dr. is not available the days I can make it up there for a fil. It is a 2 hour drive so I have to do it on certain days. Another thing that I found strange was they do not do it under flouro. Most people say they get it done that way. I am sure that I will have to pay for it, I just don't know how much! ANYHOW, my Dr is going to see my on the 17th of October for a second fill so I am working very hard on my own to make sure I do not over eat. But of course if I could do that well I would not be in this situation to begin with..... :cry I am sick and that has taken my appetite away some. Thank goodness..... :faint:
  16. Hello all, I am so excited today, I just have to share! I have lost over 40 pounds now since August, and I have been down lately thinking no one even can tell. So in the time I am the lowest I had to go to a business meeting. I was not myself, people commented how down I was. And THEN my friend looked at me and said "You've lost a sh*tload of weight" They way she said it I was just cracking up. But I was so happy that someone finally noticed. And then the woman to her right said "I thought so too, but I didn't want to ask!" That feels better than the clothes that feel better, the smaller size all of it! Someone finally noticed! lol...I just had to share! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
  17. Thanks Carlene that makes me feel better. I was getting nervous about my upcoming trip to LAX. They are already hard and I have gotten pulled out of line there already...lol...
  18. I have no restriction with my first fill as well. I am sad and glad that I am not alone and it is not just in my head.... I only got .5 ccs. PRETTY MUCH NOTHING.... I will no longer be going to that Dr! :puke:
  19. Oprah was all about nutrition and things that you eat that actually make your body older than it should be....like pop, and processed foods.
  20. I was banded there on 8/1/06. I also got my fill this week, on the 12th, I feel no different. Dr. Farhan was my surgeon, but Dr Obedi did the fill. He only gave me .5 ccs. I called back and there is not much that can be done. I am going to go back to see Dr. Farhan. Some surgeons are very conservative for the first few fills I was told. PM me if you want to talk. We can chat to see how to get through this!
  21. Thanks Faybie! That is a great thread and makes me feel ALOT better. I was very upset that I only got .5 for my first fill, sounds like now it wasn't so bad!
  22. Cindyn, I am 6 foot as well. I actually do get my pants from Lane Bryant. Right about now they have a kciking sale to get rid of summer jeans...whatever that means, and they are cheaper. They have LONG pants and I do not mean the ones that say long and still show your darn knees.
  23. Welcome Harley, I hope the insurance B.S. clears up soon!
  24. Sam you look absolutely gorgeous darling! I think I look like you before, so you are my inspriration! Thank you for giving us all hope! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
  25. I tivo'd Oprah today. I colud not believe the change in that woman. And some of the stuff I thought was good for me, like Country Crock is bad.... :guess
