  1. Thanks spidey mom! And Leanne, that's awesome that you were able to sleep in bed! I tried last night and was comfortable on my back, but I have a pinched nerve that acts up if I lay on my back for too long, it makes my thighs tingle and burn, so that kept me up. I am not able to sleep on my side yet, but am hoping to in the next couple days. Congrats on the weight loss! I haven't weighed myself since the day of surgery, but I will Monday, I just feel really bloated still with the gas, so I want to give it a couple days. I haven't been hungry either. I am going to try some blended soup today, I've only been having popsicles, jello, and broth so far. So I'm excited. How does your port site feel by the way? That is what is bothering me most now, when I get up and down. I read on here that some people have port pain for months, I hope that's not the case for me! I am doing the breathing thing as well. My goal is also 2500, I made it to 2000 today so I was excited. It's so nice to see someone else who had surgery the same day. I think we're progressing about the same! Congrats to us both!
  2. nonny, my doctor said if I don't have a bowel movement within 2 days of surgery to take chewable duloclax laxatives. I have to do that today. Maybe go ahead and give something like that a try.
  3. Hey everyone! Just had surgery yesterday and today is my first day home. I tried to take a nap and was just unbelievably uncomfortable. Just wondering how long this lasted for all of you that have done it? I know it's normal to be sore, just want to get a rough estimate of when I should/will expect to sleep again, lol! Thanks.
  4. Hey Leeann, I had my surgery yesterday also! I was not able to go home the same day however, I got sent home today. Same problem as you though with laying down, WOW, talk about painful! I didn't get a nap in today and am wondering how I'll manage to sleep tonight, may have to sleep in the recliner. Anyway, yeah, you should talk to your doctor about your incisions. Didn't he/she notice them opening yesterday? I wish you the best of luck, and please let us know how it goes for you. I have the burping too, but it doesn't sound like as bad as yours, you poor thing. Hang in there!
  5. Good luck tomorrow! I understand your nervousness, I am being banded on Wednesday! I have been on the pre op diet for 2 weeks now too! Good luck and let us know how it goes.
  6. hope everything went well with your surgery Frank!
  7. Hi everyone, I'm 30 {31 in August}, no kids, have a boyfriend who lives out of state, yada yada. Anyway, just thought I'd drop in and say hi too! My surgery is in 6 days! I'm excited. Best of luck to you all.
  8. Thanks everybody so much. I really appreciate it. You've already made me feel better! I guess I just needed to hear what you guys were saying. Maybe I'm just being hormonal with that time of the month! LOL. Thanks again and congrats to you all!
  9. Thanks for the reply Cathy. I completely know not to expect to keep losing at the rate I have, especially after surgery. I guess the reason I'm frustrated is because the surgeon said to lose 10-20 pounds with this pre-op diet, and I find myself fluctuating with just these 10 pounds. I know it's crazy to get upset about losing 9.5 pounds in 11 days, hell, I should be happy. But I guess just seeing the gain really hit me and made me mad! Thanks for your kind words! And congrats on your weight loss!
  10. ok, so I am set to have surgery May 20th. I've been on the pre op diet for going on 11 days now. I've lost 9.5 pounds. I'm really frustrated. This past week, I've only lost 2 pounds and this morning when I stepped on the scale, I'd gained a half a pound. I'm following everything exactly as I should, but can't even stand to eat the same foods anymore, but I am. It's a struggle, but I'm doing it. I've been exercising every day as well and drinking my protein shakes. I know that my period is due in a few days and figure this is bloat from that, but has anyone gone through the same thing? Any suggestions or anything? I'm just feeling really down about it today and could use some reassurance. If you have any advice at all, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks so much.
  11. ladyLaLa, I've been doing the shake diet for one week now. My doctor wants me to have 3 shakes a day, and 5 fruits/veggies a day, and then a meal for dinner that consists of one protein, brown rice, and veggies. I feel your pain. I've gotten used to it now. I've been drinking this kind of protein shake from Costco called Premier Nutrion shakes. Before that I was taking the Ensure High Protein. I like the Costco ones much better, they taste like low cal chocolate milk. The best advice I can give is to just plug along the best you can. It's not fun, but it's for our health. Try to just chug the shakes or sip through a straw and the taste/smell isn't as bad. I have a hard time with 3 a day, I can't imagine having 5. I hope you can get through it. I have one week left, I'll be down one week from today. I'm down 9 pounds since last Monday, and that's what is keeping me going. Try to just drink/eat what you have to and then find stuff to take your mind off of it. It's hard, but we can do it! Best of luck to you.
  12. Thank you all so much, I can't tell you how much your posts have helped me ease my mind. I am definitely committed to it and not looking for a quick fix. I know I can do it!
  13. WOW Kelin, congratulations on your loss! You are doing amazing! I can't even believe it when I read your stats! Thanks everyone for input. I feel alot better now having heard your thoughts. And Karen, you are right about what you said. I can't focus on the statistics. And I answered yes to all of your questions!
  14. Thank you both for your replies. I just see so many people on here doing so well, and I hope that I become one of those people! Amy, I think you're right, it's all about determination and hard work. By the looks of it, you are doing wonderfully! Keep up the great work. You should be proud of yourself!
  15. Thanks for the responses! Linda, I emailed you, I am definitely interested in that support group. I am on day 2 of my protein diet. It's hard! I am drinking ensure. It tastes fine, but wow, I miss pizza, pasta, everything! Best of luck to you raelita!
  16. Hi everyone, I'm really sorry if this has been brought up many times before. I am being banded on May 20th. I met with my surgeon for the final consultation yesterday. I want to lose 155 pounds, and my surgeon said that most lap band patiens will only lose 50% of their desired amount within 5 years. However, I've seen such incredible progress from people on here. What have you been told? What's the truth? I know it's hard to say because everyone is different, but I was a little discouraged. I can't live my life still above 200 pounds, I can't imagine that being that way forever. Thanks again guys!
  17. I'm super nervous! I know that it's for my health and everything, but seriously, I'm addicted to food, it's going to be so difficult to start those shakes. But I guess I'll have to get used to it. Anyone have any tips on how to make them taste better? Recipes, etc. Thanks!

  19. Thanks for the response and the words of encouragement! Congrats on your success! Keep up the great work!
  20. Hey there, I'm having my surgery May 19th!
  21. Just wondering if anyone went to Dr. Pesta in Warren, Michigan, through Henry Ford? Thanks!
  22. lol, your post made me laugh, so thank you! Well atleast I can look forward to wearing a diaper, haha. Thank you for easing my mind! I guess I have other things to worry about! Cheers on your success!
  23. LOL, ok thanks so much for your reply. I am just so nervous about that for some reason. I can't wait to have the surgery, but when I heard the date, I sighed, that's for sure! Congrats on your progress by the way!
  24. Hi there, I was wondering if any women out there were on their monthly cycle during the procedure? My surgery is scheduled for May 19, and at that time, I will be on my cycle. My surgeon said it was fine, but I was just wondering what anyone who went through this thought? I'm kind of nervous about it. Thank you!
