Swallowed Gum- Help!
I don't feel as if it's stuck, I've only had liquids this morning however. I will see how lunch goes. Thanks so much the reply! I'll see what happens. I guess I just got freaked out at first because that hasn't happened to be since being banded!

Swallowed Gum- Help!
Hi, so I'm 3 years post surgery and today I had gum. One of the very few times I actually have chewed gum since surgery. I accidently swallowed it. I tried to throw it up, but it didn't come up. I'm scared because I always heard there's a possiblity it could block up in your band. Has anyone else ever swallowed gum with the band? Experiences?

Please Help, Very Scared!
Thanks so much. water seems to go down fine, no problems there. I am going to try some broth now, and see if that helps! Thanks again!

Please Help, Very Scared!
Hello, I have been banded for 3 years and just this past weekend I have been having a very difficult time keeping things down. Friday I couldn't keep much down, Saturday things were fine and then yesterday and today, I can't even keep protein shakes down. I moved to a new state and don't have a lap band doctor here. I am waiting on a call back from one office, but am very concerned. This has never happened in all 3 years. Should I go to the hospital?

Support....
It sucks that he can't be supportive inbyour efforts to get healthy. But you have to do what is best for you! If he loves you, he will come around. Don't let anyone deter you from success! :-)
-
Oh My Goodness!!! I Suck!!
If you haven't had a fill yet, you may be able to handle pizza, but I know for me, since I've had fills I cannot handle anything like that. I would be concerned about that, sure, but I would be more concerned about you actually eating it and the emotional impacts it would take on you. You decided to have the surgery so that you could be healthier and live a healthy life. Giving in this early in the game is not a good idea. All you can do from here is move on and remember why you were banded. Pizza or any other bad food is NOT worth it. Just stay focused and work on making yourself healthy. I would mention it to your doctor though. Best of luck to you!

Not Keeping Food Down
Hello all, I had the band almost 3 years ago and have been successful with it thus far. I just have one problem. Over the last two weeks, things have been getting stuck constantly. I am not eating things I shouldn't, but no matter what, things seem to get stuck. I even tried going on the soft diet for a week, it helped a bit but not entirely. It seems that the only times things don't get stuck is when I go out to eat, which I find strange! I live in Illinois but am from Michigan, I had a doctor there but have yet to find one here. I know I need to go but was wondering in the meantime if anyone had any input or suggestions??!?! Thanks so much!

Extremely frustrated. Need motivation back!
Thank you everyone so much for listening and for offering such kind words and advice. I definitely am going to take care of the depression first. I have struggled with it in the past and have been on medication and it's helped, but I am not sure if it's what I want again. But first I'll talk to someone. AS for the LB doctor, I found one recommended on this site and am going to call tomorrow to set up an appointment. I need to get my life back on track. When I was losing the weight, I felt so great about myself and so positive about my journey. I hope to get back to that place. Thanks again everyone. I really do appreciate it. I knew that my family and friends couldn't understand because they haven't been banded, and I knew that some people on here would be able to identify. I love this site and am so happy to be part of a great community. Best of luck to all of you and thanks for being so great!

Extremely frustrated. Need motivation back!
I know there are a lot of threads out there like this, but I just wanted to vent about my situation for a minute. So thanks to anyone who decides to "listen"! I had my surgery May of 2009, I was doing so well until about February of this year. Last year, I was so strict and worked out everyday. However, this year, a major life change happened. I moved to Illinois from Michigan to live with my boyfriend. It's been really hard here. I used my move and added stress as an excuse to eat things I haven't eaten in awhile and I've certainly fallen off the working out bandwagon. I'm so disappointed in myself. I don't know how to get my motivation back and keep it. I've been overweight since getting out of highschool which has been 14 years now. I want to let go of this monkey on my back. I want to be healthy and thin but lately can't seem to make myself do it. I've been dealing with some depression, so I'm sure that doesn't help matters. :bored: Another problem is my band. I had a pretty good doc back in MI but can't seem to find a good one here. I have a good fill, but I still seem to be able to eat amounts of food I shouldn't be able to. Also, it's weird because these get stuck a lot but I know Idon't have too much of a fill. So that stresses me as well. Anyway, I just was maybe looking for a few helpful suggestions on how to get some motivation back. I'm sure there's some people who have been through something similar and just wondered how you got over it. Thanks everyone, I appreciate it! :w00t:

Happy bandaversary !! - thoughts/comments
Well today is my bandiversary. I'm down officially, 81.5 lbs. I'm happy, but it wasn't the goal I wanted to meet for my one year. This past year has been so difficult in so many ways. I feel as though I've really struggled with the band, but all in all, I've been successful. Since then, so much has changed. I moved to another state, moved in with my boyfriend, am far away from my family and friends, was hospitalized for a week, etc. It's been really trying but also great in many ways. I wouldn't change anything that has gone on in my life since May 20, 2009. I am healthier and happier and love life again. Happy bandiversary to everyone.

Flying and the band
THANKS for the replies everyone! I guess we'll see how I do Saturday!

Easy way out?
it is not a cop out! This is the hardest I've worked for anything in my entire life. It is not easy at all. it really angers me when people assume that we take the easy way out by having surgery, they have no idea how hard it is for all of us!

Help! No loss since July...& now gaining...
That's awesome Jennifer! Congrats on the 2 lbs! I'm sure you'll continue to lose now! And I agree, this is a great place to come for reinforcement. Keep up the good work and enjoy your new groceries!

Flying and the band
Ok, so I haven't flown since 1999. I am scared to death of flying. However, I'm flying to Illinois on Saturday, and I'm already nervous enough, but I was wondering if anyone ever had any problems flying with the band? I know the band doesn't contain metal, but I read a thread from over 2 years ago that someone said their port area set set off the detector. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm already nervous, don't want to worry about this as well!
