I had surgery with Dr Bonnor in May and I was self pay. I paid $11,500.00. I have had 5 fills and still have no restriction. I had one last wk and will probably go back tomorrow for another one (He asked me to come back tomorrow if I still don't have restriction) because I didn't feel any different since after the fill. I can eat anything and it doesn't even feel like I have a band in place. I am begining to get worried because it will be 5 months on the 26th and I'm still stuck with 40 lbs loss (going up and down 3 lbs).

How does this work ? I want to join.

Okay, I watch a lot of lap band patients on youtube and most of them seem to have an accountability partner. So how many of you here have an accountability partner and if you do, how does he/she help to keep you on track? I have been struggling for 5 days now and have gained some weight (not a lot though), but weight gain is not part of this journey.

My friend was actually the one that convinced my to have this surgery after I flipped on my husband for even suggesting it. She was there for the day of the surgery, took care of my kids after the surgery and all the excitement we built up together before the surgery. I can't wait for her to have her own surgery soon. On the other hand, I have another friend I have been friends with for over ten yrs. We are both married. She is bigger than me and have HBP. I didn't tell her about my surgery till like 3 wks post surgery. She called me one day complaining on how she has all these health issues and blah blah blah. So I told her about the surgery just in case she wants to look into it. The following week, she and her husband went and joined a gym and she never got back to me on her decision. I know our relationship won't be the same after I lose weight because she will get so defensive about everything fat

It's been two months since surgery, just wanted to know how everyone is doing. I know most of us are in bandster hell right now, so when are y'all getting your second fill ? I have been doing my best for two weeks now and it really did pay off. I have lost 40 lbs in two months. I lost 13 lbs in the last two weeks , but I worked my butt off for it. I have a wedding on the 9th of August and I will be seeing most of my classmates that I haven't seen since May. I want to turn heads you know...lol. I have goals of another 10 lbs by then. I am not relying on the band right now, I am relying on myself.

I used to weigh myself everyday just like everyone else, but I was on bandster hell for almost three wks and it wasn't fun climbing the scale every morning after 2 hrs workout at the gym the night before and nothing. So I put my scale in the trunk of my car for 2 wks now, so I can concentrate on actually doing the work instead of obsessing about every loss and gain. I haven't weighed myself for two wks now and will know my current weight when I go to get my second fill on Tuesday. My plan is to weigh once a month only at my doctor's office. I know I have lost weight because I 've gone down two dress sizes ( from size 18 to 14) in two months.

SQUEEM is wonderful. I'm glad you wore yours and nothing happened. I will start wearing mine starting tonight. I don't want my tummy to be hanging after losing all these weight. I didn't know they sell them at Walgreens. I bought mine from hourglassangels.com

I so want to wear my waist cinchers to sleep every night but I'm afraid it will compress my band or even the port. I want flatter stomach to go with my changing body.

Can we wear any of these. Do you wear workout bands? I will love to wear workout band when I exercise but I'm worried about my band. I carry a lot of my fat around my mid-section and my stomach doesn't look like it is going down even though I have gone down two dress sizes in two months.

Oh, they sound more positive when they are recruiting you than they do after the surgery. My doctor told me that it will take two years for me to reach my goal of 100 lbs loss and that I may never look like I did when I was younger. Give me a break, I'm 31 yrs old and looked 23 until I crossed over 200 lbs. He never sounded that way pre - surgery and now you are telling me it will take two years to loss the weight. I told him to let me worry about that, just give me fill every month. Initially he refused but when I went for my first fill, he agreed I can come back once a month if I don't have restriction after every fill.

Hey Misty....I have been busy lately and haven't been on here a lot lately. I did get my first fill last week thursday (instead of tuesday) because there were too many patients at Dr Bonnor's office on tuesday and my hubby was coming home that evening from offshore, so I had to leave and rescheduled for thursday. Dr Bonnor came in at 8.00 am that morning just for me, thought that was really nice of him. It was my best visit to his office so far and I'm beginning to think that they read our comments on lapbandtalk....lol. He was very nice and the whole visit didn't take more than 10 mins. It wasn't painful at all, didn't even feel the needle go in. The only problem is that I have absolutely zero restriction till now. I am doing my best though (lost 4 lb since then) and will probably wait till the next 4 - 5 wks to see what happens.

I also have phentermine but I didn't use it before surgery. Taking it before surgery is not advisable. I am 5 wks post -op and I'm using it now to get through the hungry days.

Definitely Orthostatic hypotension and most of the time, it can be drug induced. I hope you have seen your doctor since this post

I lost 4 lbs yesterday and gained 1.5 lbs this morning. I'm planning to send my scale to the trunk of my car so I can stop obsessing about daily weight-in.

Right there with you guys...haven't lost a single pound in two weeks. I can eat almost everything and I sure do eat them. Don't eat as much as I was pre-surgery though and I guess that's why I haven't gained. went for my fill today ( postponed from last week) and there were too many people at the doctor's office. I waited for an hour and there were still about seven people ahead of me, so I rescheduled for Thursday and left.

Hey Misty....I had to post-pond my appointment till next week Tuesday because my kids have been sick all week. They picked up something from the daycare ,so I had to stay home and watch them. I hope I come back on Tuesday with good stories because I truly like Dr Bonnor. I have been so so bad this week just from staying home all day with sick children. There isn't much to do when they are knocked out by their med and I'm all by myself. I haven't lost single pound in over a week now. I also haven't worked out too. I know next week will be better though because they are getting better, I'm getting the fill on Tuesday and will be able to get back to the gym.

How is everyone doing?

I do not have any problem at all. If there is anything, I 've healed beautifully well. I have lost 19 lbs in this two wks, so I feel like I have done really well. The first time he came to the room where I was waiting, I was talking with one of the girls. He didn't even come inside the room, he stood by the door and asked me if I have any problem. I said no.And then he said, see you in two wks time for your first fill. I was like "JUST LIKE THAT". I didn't drive 45 mins to your office for you to dismiss with one line question. So I said I wanted to talk to him some more. He asked me to wait that he will be right back. Right back turned into 45 mins wait. I was pissed, so I took my bag to leave , but one of his girls asked me to wait that she will drag him out in 2 mins. He came in at exactly 2 mins after I went back to the room to wait and didn't even sit down. He repeated this same question "Any problem ?" So I started asking him questions about the capacity of my band and how often I can get fills etc. He got really pissed like I was wasting his time. He told me that I will get my first fill next wk and every 8 wks thereafter. So I told him that I don't like the fact that he is not flexible. What if I don't feel any restriction after getting a fill, does it mean I will have to ride it on my own for 8 wks before I can come back. My husband paid 11k for me to get this surgery and I can't afford to be losing 2 lbs a month. I will do my part but I also want the assistance that the band is supposed to offer. He told me that's not his problem and that he has a protocol he follows with all his patients. We argued this back and forth before he finally said okay I can come back after 3 wk if I don't feel any restriction after a fill. He could have just said that the first time I asked him and we wouldn't have gone into all the argument. He didn't ask to see my stitches, or ask if I am losing weight or not. No follow up question, just nasty rude comments like "You are a going to be a professional next year, so I guess you know what to do". He was more interested in seeing new patients. I'm glad though to be getting my first fill 3 wks post-op. I hope he behaves better next wk or I will let him know I don't appreciate rude doctors.

I was so disappointed with Dr Bonnor today. I am trying really hard to tell myself maybe he was having a bad day today, but boy, was he rude. I went in today for my follow-up visit. His girls were super nice as usual, but he was so arrogant and rude. He kept me waiting for over 45 mins and was just arguing with me uneccessarily.

Had surgery May 26th , went to see my doctor today for post-op follow up (was supposed to go last wk but cancelled), and he schedule my first fill for next wk. That will be 3 wks post up, but he said I will be getting only .5cc because I already have 3cc in my band (I guess he put in 3 cc during the surgery) I don't think the .5 cc will make any difference and I told him so.

I started my sleeve funds as well and will transition to sleeve if there is any need for it. I don't ever want to be fat again, ever if I manage to get to my goal weight. I worry about long term effect of the band too and my doctor said that only smokers have the history of band erosion and that I can have my band on as long as 15 yrs

Go and see your lap-band doctor right away....don't play with your life.
