  1. until i am transformed. The Banding. it's nice to know i only have 23 days to be fat.. lol i CANNOT wait! and i found out my surgeon give a fill on the day of surgery.. woohoo!! www.skinnytobe.webs.com
  2. My Lap Band Journey - Home i started a page too!
  3. my seminar was end of sept. and my surgery is Nov 23rd. no ins. diet requirements... and i had to get clearance from cardiologist, endocrinologist, psychologist, nutritionist.. and needed an endoscopy. i have pre-surgery testing on 11/12 by the hospital and PCP clearance on 11/19... so there are a lot of steps... but i rather all of that then nothing to be sure i won't have complications.. good luck.
  4. HAHA i thought i was the only crazy one.. jk. i can't wait.. mine is 11/23. i just think.. the more research.. the more successful. good luck!
  5. ohh cool.. hee hee.. i am so excited!! thanks for the feedback...
  6. Hey everyone!! I got my date today!!!! Nov 23rd. the monday before thanksgiving.. aaaaaaaaaaaand i don't care.. I'm so excited... yey
  7. Hello Kate, this is what i learned. gastric bypass is permanent. some people rather this option for their own reasons.. Lap-band is totally reversable. in the seminar the surgeon explained that some people have issues with the band (slip) but can be easily fixed laproscopically. I suggest reading a lot more before chosing WLS.. it is a forever life change. check out a seminar.. they are very informative as well. good luck.
  8. mmmmmmm i can't wait to try this. this is how i cook my brussel sprouts.. thanks!!:cursing:
  9. ohh wow! you are coming up to your surgery so soon.. go you!.. i hope endoscopy goes smooth for you today.. all i gotta say is..drink Water and suck in throat drops after!! mine went so well.. i just had a nasty case of dryness going on.. not only from anesthesia.. but from oxygen... keep us updated!
  10. body fortress -- whey Protein 56grams.. i think it tastes great!!!! i got it in chocolate.. it's costs $13 for a huge container or powder at walmart. good luck.
  11. thank you everyone. you all had some really good information. I made up my mind over a month ago that i am doing this surgery.. and i went through all the necessary medical clearance so far... that's a commitment in itself. I am completely ready for a life change and the ups and downs that come with it. I guess i was just frustrated for other people who were unsuccessful with the band. Unfortunately i am the type of person that NEEDS to know everything.. hense why i am on here all the time.. lol. it's probably a good thing when it comes to major things like getting WLS.... I am just going to remember all the good advise. and remind myself that nothing comes easy in life.. i always had to work hard for the things i have.. and that's ok. because then you feel so much more accomplished. I am extremely excited, nervous, anxious and every other emotion that comes with it... but most of all. I am determined... :scared2:
  12. Yes.. i think a lot of people feel that way. we are so used to "diet" where you know you can never eat again.. hah. we did choose it for a reason.. and i will try and stay as positive as possible. good luck with your pre-op diet.. and the surgery.. keep us updated!!
  13. I have been reading everyone's comments for over a month in preparation for having the lap-band® surgery.. i still cannot determine if this is the best option for weight loss. don't get me wrong. i am doing it. and i am determined to do my best. but i keep reading mixed reviews about it..now i know we are all different. I fully understand it is how you use this tool.. because that is what it is. a tool. and not a way out. but how come it just doesn't work for some people? i don't understand. i can't see how. it constricts your stomach to make you feel full.. which i am finding out may not happen until 4+ weeks later!!!.. but if you are consuming less calories than burning.. isn't it inevitable that you will lose??? so to me... maybe people aren't reading nutrition facts like they should? or they are not active at all.. it doesn't make sense to me. the whole taking 4 weeks for a fill.. ok i can see why.. you need time for your stomach to heal.. but 4 weeks!! it really only takes 2 weeks to get used to eating different.. atleast in my case. so why the need for lap-band® then? i guess i am just a little frustrated... i really want this to be a success.. and i feel it is up to the person carrying the lap-bans that makes thats determination. is it just me???
  14. Lien -- aaaaaaand what are you doing in the powder room???? hmmmmm? hahahah it's a given no matter what weight..men have an endless sex drive. lol :sneaky: Rafa2- thanks for something to look forward to. i think i will feel the same. regardless of an saggy skin or whatnot. atleast i won't feel like a balloon. lol. and that will make my hubby love the band as well.. he thinks i still won't be confident cause of extra skin. i don't think the skin will be that bad.. who knows. THANKS!!
  15. WOW, i was totally expecting a different response.. was kindove hoping it increases.. hhaah. if you don't mind me asking.. is there a lot of loose skin? and do you feel more insecure about that then prior to the surgery? sorry to hear about your libido and hair loss..
  16. thank you all for the responses... i feel much better about what i am prepared for. i really like the idea of a timer.. because being a mother, wife and homeowner.. i NEVER keep track of those things.. i will also replace 1 of my meals with a Protein shake. (whey protein-- chocolate.. MMMMM) I also want to come to terms with all these changes prior to surgery so i can be as successful as possible. adding exercise now will help too... i will do all in my power to try and prevent loose skin... thanks again!!
  17. ok.. not to get too personal here. but I have always had insecurities about my body. lately when my husband and I are intimate.. i am disgusted with myself...and only because i feel the fat getting in the way. i know he is completely comfortable with my body.. but it's how i feel in certain positions.. with that said, it's getting old for my hubby.. and i don't blame him. I feel like i lost all sex drive. i ALWAYS have a reason why I can't be intimate. and it always seems to be fat related. so my question is, will this weight loss help the sex drive? get the hormones flowing? i know we are all different. but i wasn't always like this...as i gained weight.. i lost the drive. I need to get the hormones flowing... my husband deserves it. any advise? thanks!!
  18. so I had to fast today until my 12:30 appt for stress test. I am just able to eat.. and i am eating this subway sandwich like there is no tomorrow!! i wasn't able to have my usual coffee in the am. or Breakfast.. i get up at 7:30am.. so this is a loooooooooong time. I am sooooo determined to do this and be successful.. but i don't know what it is.. lately i feel so guilty about everything I eat.. cause i know i should be changing my habits now. and i have a little here and there. I almost feel like.. not matter how restricted my band will be. i will still always feel hungry.. and feel like i am starving myself. anyone out there with this problem?? thanks!
  19. -fitting my butt in my office chair comfortably. :cursing: -not having to adjust my clothes every 5 minutes:blush: -buying fashionable clothes at walmart for $10  -walking up the staircase without the feeling of death!:frown: -riding my bike without tired flattening and butt bone hurting:blush: -fitting in to my 5 different sizes of smaller clothes i have stored away  -not having to pull down my shirt to cover my ugly belly :wink2: -to stop my undies from rolling when i sit. -more energy!!!!! -less $$ on food  add anything else???
  20. Good Luck!! congrats on your soon to be new life. i hope it goes smooth and painless for you.
  21. i have to get cardiology clearance along with an endoscopy, endocrinology, pulmonology, psychology, and nutritionist clearance. then i can sit with my surgeon for a 2nd consult.where he will go over results and schedule surgery date. so far i have seen cardiologist once. have to go back for stress test. i will have all my visits done by mid oct. hopefully.. maybe a november bandster!!!
  22. looks like i might be joining you all in November. i scheduled all my required dr appts within a 2 week period. so by Oct 15th i will have all my appt's in. then i sit with the surgeon again to go over results and schedule appt. yey!! i am extremely excited. i was talking to my neighbor today and she already started joking about how i am going to be skinny.. that word skinny hit me so hard.. i have never in my life been called that!! ahahhaha. so how does everyone feel about being banded before the holidays? i am actually ok with it. i will liquify my mashed potatoe and sweet potatoe.. i don't care. as long as i lose this weight already!!!! cheers!
  23. I'm so sorry to hear you had a bad experience... i cannot relate in any way. i am still in pre-op stage. I hope everything gets better from this point on. you made the decision to have the band for a reason.. don't foget that. you unfortunately went through some major complications...but i feel everything happens for a reason. you may not know it right now.. but maybe it will make sense in the future. this experience is still so new.. give it time. you're going to do great. i hope you feel better soon.
  24. thanks everyone for your honesty. I figured craving wouldn't go away..lol. i just needed to see it from other people perspective. i've done Weight watchers before and understand exactly what you say by the cravings getting better with time.. best wishes to everyone
