Hey Nana! Good to hear from you! Of course you have stuff to contribute, even if it's just saying hi. I'm at the stage right now where I am starving, and trying to stick within the 600-800 calorie range on liquids. It's funny how I've been beating myself up for eating 850 or 900 calories because I had an extra cup of soup or something. I'm all worried I won't lose any more weight. HELLOOOO...it's 900 calories!!! lmao. I'm back to full function too, and moving around a lot, which I think is making me a bit hungrier. It's only been one week of this liquid diet and man does it suck! lol. I go a week from today for my follow up visit. Hopefully it will be on to mushies. Dez, Rainbow, and of course Sherry - when you start on mushies does the heavier food keep you more full than the liquids or is it just as hard to not eat?

Hey rainbow. Thanks for checking with Michelle on this one. Great resource as we get a very technical answer. So are you still losing without a fill? You've done great so far, but I'm sure it's not easy. Dez - that is too funny! I do noticet that my stomach makes some weird noises. I just had some Cambell's Select Soup, and it was pureed but there were little bits of corn in there and my stomach started making all these noises. Now I'm all worried the corn pieces are going to slip my band! lol. Man oh man! lol

Gynecology revisited
I actually use hoo-hoo all the time, and cracked up when they called it a va jay-jay on Grey's Anatomy. Too funny! My friends and I have all kind of crazy names for it. We call it a taco sometimes and I've also called it " my lunch". As in, he was going after a piece of my lunch, and I shot him down.

OMG Carlene! It's bad enough to say that, but to a 70 year old woman?! Unbelievable!

Gynecology revisited
The last male doctor I have ever seen was at my first gynological exam at the age of 17. He said to me "ok, we have a nice little vagina here" and then proceeded to comment on my grooming habits. Yeah. I'm all set with male doctors. lol

Hi ladies, Dez - what a trip you had! I had a good laugh over the monsoon. What a hoot! Hmmm...so is Dr Jones now filling the band at surgery time, where he wasn't back in February? Oh man....so many questions! lol It was funny - I told Sherry that I totally felt restriction this week. I just thought it was the swelling, which it very well may be, but maybe it's part fill as well. You know what? I am going to mentally believe that I have somewhat of a fill and maybe that will help me along! lmao So my appetite is back. Crap! lol. I'm trying to decipher between the head hunger and real hunger, and am doing ok. I've been keeping my calories around 800 which, if you think about it, is completely insane! Who would have ever thought I could function on so little. lol. I probably ate that many calories in one meal before the band. Crazy, huh? Anyway, overall I'm doing well. I'm glad to see everyone is doing great too.

Plus sized model on Paris runway
I now know why most runway models have that serious look on their face. They are too weak to smile. It's from lack of food.

Hey Cindy and Mandy I am a total Disney nut too! I am trying to convince my sister and/or my best friend to take their youngsters to Disney so I can tag along! I had begged my ex-boyfriend to go (he had never been) but he had no interest. Good thing I got rid of him! lol.

Trouble eating first week out - anyone else?
Thanks Jack. I was starting to think I was doing things "wrong". Good to know this part of the normal process.

Trouble eating first week out - anyone else?
I had surgery one week ago tomorrow, and have been recouperating well. The problem is that I have no appetite. Well, rather nothing is appetizing. I get hungry, very, but find that I can stomach very little. When I do eat, I can only eat a small amount. Half of a yogurt or pudding cup, a 1/2 cup broth, 1/2 of a Protein drink, etc. I noticed the past couple of days that I am developing horrible bad breath and that I have to lie down after doing something as simple as taking a shower. I think obviously I am not getting enough calories in. For those of you who have gone through this, did it last? Can you maybe suggest some ideas of things to eat on full liquids. I never in a million years imagined that I would have such a problem. Thank you!

Uh oh Dezadoo - the dreaded PB! lol. It's bound to happen, but it totally stinks that it happened while you were at the fair. My sister lives in Melrose and they LOVE the Topsfield Fair. They go every year. I'm feeling even better today, and have noticed a huge drop on the scale so I'm excited about that. I've weighed myself for two days straight to make sure it wasn't a fluke. lol. I am going to work on getting my protein drinks down today and maybe picking up around here a bit. I've been a slob! lol. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this great weather!

Hi Seminole, Mayflower and Tess! Welcome to the post! Seiminole - you seem to be doing great! Keep up the good work. Mayflower - sorry to hear about the autoimmune disease. That is tough. Steroids do wreak havoc on your body. But keep at it. You'll get there! Tess - I'm only a few days out but I can already see that this is not going to be a walk in the park. You've done great so far and are only 30lbs from goal. You can do it!!

Wow Deb that is some big news. I'm sorry to hear that Angi is leaving, but she needs to do what is best for her no doubt. They had a beautiful day for the walk. I ended up having to work that day to get caught up at the office so I didn't go to the walk. Dr Jones said it was a pretty decent turn out though. Sorry to hear you didn't have your fill. They decided not to fill you because you've been losing weight, right? I am feeling better today. So far so good. Still have the pain in my shoulders, but my stomach is less sore. I'm just taking tylenol today, and hopefully this will be enough to keep the edge off. I feel soooo full. It's weird. My stomach is growling, but I could care less about eating or drinking anything. Right now I am just focusing on some water and I'll work on some protein later today. Right now I feel uncomfortably full, so I don't want to push it. Well ladies, I think it's time for my mid-morning nap. lol. I haven't slept this much in ages! I'll check in with you all later on. Chris

i think im getting my period
Hi La Chula, I ended up getting my period a couple days before surgery, and they didn't cancel it on me. They gave me a pair of mesh panties and a pad to put on. Just tell the nurses when you get there that you have your period and they will take care of you. When I told them the morning of my surgery, they said I was the fourth girl that day. It was no big deal.

Hi ladies, Just wanted to send you a note to let you know that I'm home, safe and banded. Thank you for all your well wishes. Today was a bit rough, but I learned quickly to take that liquid pain medicine exactly how it's prescribed. I am one sore cookie! Well I am going to get some rest, just wanted to pop in and say hi!

Hello ladies!! I am home! :clap2: I'm feeling pretty good today. So good that they let me leave the hospital waking, and ot in a wheel chair. lol. I'm a little loopy right now b/c I just took some pain meds, but overall I feel great. Pre-op prepping was tough, that's for sure. It took 6 tries to get the IV in me. :faint:But everyone was really nice, and I woke up very peacefully in recovery. I am sore though. My shoulders are KILLING me! My stomach feels like I've been kicked in the stomach, or worked out to the point where it is sore just to move. lol. But overall, I can't complain. I really feel fantastic! Thank you guys for all your support! I will write more this wee, but I think bed is calling me tonight. :grouphug:

One year ago today...
I have to say that I am soooo happy for you Puddinpie! I've been watching your progress for months while I have been awaiting my date to get banded. You have worked really hard and look fantastic! You are a beautiful girl, and always have been. Keep up the good work! I can only hope I am half as successful as you have been!
