10cc band
who all has a 10cc band. I was just curious because that is what I got and I was wondering what the benefits/down falls are for it from people who have or not had it.

how surgery day went
so far I am really mixed about my feelings towards the surgery. I know that is just because I am sore and dehydrated a bit. Has anyone else had the feeling after surgery that you were not hungry at any time? I have had not one hunger pang, but I force myself to drink water and about 1/4 cup of chicken broth. But then I really feel full. I'm not hungry one bit. I feel like I have restriction, but I'm sure that is just from bieng swollen.

how surgery day went
hmmmm. maybe I am allergic to something else. Or maybe I am just assuming they gave it to me in my IV. You would think I would have a memory of taking it orally, but my husband says I was talking to them before it happened. I don't even remember that. All he knew was that they all of a sudden shooed him out of the room while my face was swelling and he didn't get to come back for almost two hours. I am really curious now.

how surgery day went
I had my lap-band procedure done on Tuesday August 1st, which was less than two days ago. To make a long story short, the surgery went as planned in every way. Now recovery was a different story. Even though I told three different people within 30 minutes of surgery that I was allergic to Vicoden, what do you think they put into my IV directly after my surgery. VICODEN!!! I did not know about it till I woke up very sick late last night. My husband told me that I had a severe allergic reaction and it took just a minute for someone to realize what they had done. Apparently my face/neck swelled up and I had stopped breathing. I have no memory of this whatsoever. (I'm certainly glad about that). I ended up having to stay overnight so they could monitor me. I'm fine now, and thank god everything is ok. On a lighter note. I have EXTREME restriction. I can barely keep down two tablespoons of liquid. I was told it is probably swelling. Anyways, that's how it went. Thanks for listening.

30 hrs till surgery
I am so nervous about surgery Tuesday morning. Starting to actually have REAL second thoughts. I just know it will turn out okay. I'm trying to keep the end result in mind.

Anyone ever done a 'colon cleanse' ?
thanks. I won't waste my money then.

Anyone ever done a 'colon cleanse' ?
No, I was asking about WLS for dummies. I hadn't read it or bought it. I was curious if someone else read it so I would know if it dealt with GB or lapband.

Second fill...finally know what restriction is!!
One of the main reasons I'm glad I found this message board is because of fills/restriction. I know the chances of me feeling restriction with band alone are pretty slim. But I also know that if it takes a couple fills to get restriction that is common. During one of my nutrition classes for surgery approval the nurse said it can take up to 3 or 4 fills for some people to feel restriction. I hope that does not happen to me. Look at me. I was so desperate to just get my "surgery date". I kept saying if I got that I would be happy. Now I haven't even had my surgery done yet and am already disappointed about not feeling restriction. Sheesh. :rolleyes

But I'm more scared of bieng a fatty/diabetic/blind/losing limbs. We are all making the right decision. Best of luck to you. :nervous

Anyone ever done a 'colon cleanse' ?
I was wondering if anyone has read that book "weight loss surgery for dummies" ? I ordered some protein powder from unjury.com yesterday and noticed they sold that there. I was curious if anyone knew how good/helpful it was.

I am so pissed!!
You are doing what's right for you and yours and that is all that matters. Good job Aussie Chick. It think the only tears you should be shedding are those of happiness to how healthy you are becoming. Hang in there and keep your head up. I know it is sometimes hard to brush things off but you just gotta.

Bm?
This is why I love LBT. Where else can you get this kind of honesty? I feel like I know every scenario I could possibly get into after this surgery. That is thanks to this board.

I am so pissed!!
I'm sorry. But anyone who says WLS is the "easy way out" is an uneducated fool. I have said this before. I have not had WLS yet. (my surgery is on Tuesday) But I do know what I have had to do leading up to the surgery and that alone is worth 100 pound weight loss AT LEAST. I have had to deal with a few people who are the same way. Amazingly enough most of them are fat too. You think they of all people would understand our struggle. Jealousy is the only word I can think of.

Weird thing happened
My surgery is also outpatient. My surgery is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. and and I am supposed to be home that afternoon. (as long as everything goes according to plan) That is the way my doctor and his three partners have always done it.

colon cleanse?
wow, everyone has such great/strong opinions. I know one thing for sure, I'm going to do a colon cleanse prior to surgery (hopefully I will have the same results as you did as far as no gas after surgery). I will definately post here and tell ya'll how that went. Thanks to all.

colon cleanse?
I had my last visit with my surgeon before my surgery on my second day into my pre-op liquid diet. He told me then that they say "liquid diet" but if I wanted to have a small salad or some steamed vegetables and stayed under 1100 calories that would be okay. But, all doctors are different. Yours might say different. I have lost 5 pounds in 5 days.
-
colon cleanse?
if you are talking to me, I am doing the HMR 800 instead of the Optifast. I am 5 days into it. The first three days were the hardest. NOw I am not even drinking the amount I am supposed to. My legs ache from the malnutrition. I can't wait till I get the surgery and get on mushies. Never thought I'd say that.

colon cleanse?
I started this thread because I just wanted to ask about colon cleanse. I'm not sure who put it in my head, but I was asking people about the pre-op liquid diet. I needed to lose 10 pounds in 14 days and I didn't know if that was possible. So I was inquiring about some tips for some fast, temporary weight loss before surgery. Someone asked me if I had ever tried that. Not sure if that was you. So I started a new thread so I could get responses generated just for that particular subject. Was I wrong to do that? I'm not sure about "message board etiquette".

colon cleanse?
wow, what an overwhelming response to the thread I started. I think this was good. I mean that is what this website is all about right? Everyone throwing their two cents in. Please nobody apologize for what they write on here. Please nobody get offended. And please nobody state that they are correct and nobody else is. Seems everyone had good points and good things to contribute. Makes you look at it from all sides before choosing your own opinion.
