Pre-op diet
The port will become less sensitive and the pain in the shoulder and the surgical soreness will go away with mobility. It worked for me. If you shoulder is hurting, there is gas that is still trapped. It's common but I didn't have it on this surgery. Other surgeries have been awful though. Good luck and move around as you can. Chat soon. Mikissa

8 Days Post Op
I am finding that it's hard to get all the protein (60g) in as prescribed by the Dr. I am supposed to be getting 35 carbs as my goal too. That's hard to eat something without the carbs adding up quick... I do the best I can. I'm also finding it hard to get all my water intake in like I was preop. I guess when water is all you can have, it makes a difference.:rolleyes2:

So how did it go Nean4488? Your surgery was yesterday. Was it uneventful?

Pre-op diet
Good luck. Everything should go really smooth for you on the day of your surgery. We all were in your shoes and came out of it just fine. Maybe sore but all in all you'll be just beautiful scars and all. :w00t:

Thanks for the feedback. It reassures me a lot.

Day 4 Post Op
For anybody who read this initial post, I have a suggestion if you too have a lot of meds to swallow. Take it with applesauce. It covers the chalky taste and gives you relief when taking it. Just make sure it's sugar free natural apple sauce. Best of luck out there.

Good luck on your fill. I haven't had one yet and I'm nervous about mine. I think your Avatar is soooo cute. The kitty from Shrek.

Pre-op diet
Hey Bella, Hope everything is going better now. Maybe some of that air is gone now and you can enjoy things better. I'll bet you've lost some more weight. Can't wait to hear from you.

Thank you for the pep talk. I can use it. I am nervous about my first Dr.s appointment b/c I've never had a fill before. Can you tell me what that's like?

May 10-14 2010 Bandsters
I'm so glad you're now officially banded. I have lost 15lbs total on my scales anyway since I was banded. I go back to the Dr. on the 1st and I am nervous about him giving me an injection since my port is still got glue all around it.

THanks Jodi, I am happy I have made this decision but I'm not seeing any significant weight loss yet. Maybe I need a fill. But I eat a boiled egg and get full so it's not like I'm overeating. ?? Who knows what's going on.

Restricted in day, wide open at night - to fill or not to fill?
I'm wondering the same thing. I just had surgery this week and I've got some obvious swelling but it's going down and I can't eat much. The solid foods are so hard to swallow. I wonder if I need an adjustment or not when I go back.?? I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Day 4 Post Op
Well, I will be meeting with a trainer on Monday at the gym that I just joined. I am nervous and excited. I have such a long way to go and I know I can do it but it feels like such a long way off. I don't want to be stared at by the "skinny" people but if that's the price you pay to get into shape, I will pay that price. I haven't been adjusted yet but I think I'm roughly where I need to be. I'm eating very lil to get full so that's a good sign. The worst part of all of this is having to take all the medications that I take and having to crush them to swallow them. I hate the chalky taste.

Post Op Day 3 / Joined a gym
Well, I have been moving around to keep the soreness down and it has worked beautifully. Two days ago was the surgery and I came home and didn't even lay down. I got up feeling better the next day and even quite a lot better this morning. Can't wait for tomorrow to get here. I also joined a gym tonight. I feel like a crazy person but I'm trying to invest in this lifestyle change.

May 10-14 2010 Bandsters
My surgery was on the 11th as well. I am finding that as I move around a lot, the soreness seems to get better each day. Just joined a gym today. I will have to heal before I can do anything much but I'm looking forward to embracing the whole lifestyle change. Best of luck to you!

Question regarding my first fill
I just got banded yesterday (May 11th) I am wondering how long the soreness will last because although I'm less sore today than yesterday, I wonder if I'll be healed enough three weeks from now when I visit the Dr. for the first fill. Pls share your experiences with me regarding your first fill and if it hurt from the surgery. thx in advance.

Spring into March 2010 Bandsters
Hi there, Just got banded on the 11th of May and today is Day 2 Post op. I am less sore and swollen today. I attribute this to moving around on the day of surgery and the day after. The mobility I've been told helps with soreness.

Day of surgery
Got up at 4:30 AM to head to the hospital. Got in quick and was in surgery before I knew it. Woke up white as a sheet (so they said) but no sickness or soreness in my shoulder or back as reported widely. Glad I've had it done. I am swollen however. Hoping tomorrow is better. Good luck to all. The flip side is a good place to be.

Day 13 of Pre Op Diet
Hi all, Tomorrow is my last Pre Op day and then I have my surgery Yay. I just want to get it over with and move on to the next phase. I'm ready to lose some serious weight and this should be the trick. Wish I didn't have to resort to this extreme but I want to be healthy and I know this will be productive for myself and my husband who is doing the Atkins diet along with the diet I will be on. Wish us both luck. I'll see you guys on the flip side of my surgery.
