  1. I may be wrong about this but I think that the high triglyceride issue will be only more support for you having this surgery.
  2. Oh my Tracy I'm so sorry you are suffering like this. Can you call an ER and ask to speak to a nurse, explain your situation with the recent surgery and limitations on what you may take and maybe the nurse can inquire from a surgeon? I know I was able to take percoset for pain after my surgery for several days. Can you apply ice or heat for relief? Do you need to wrap your injured knee? I wish I were there to help you. I'll get back to you if I find any answers. The Tylenol is allowed but I guess it's not strong enough in this case.
  3. I'm about 3.5 months out and I use zophran when nausea becomes problematic. It seems to work.
  4. So I guess Aciphex is another antacid and since it's working to prevent excess in stomach acid production your body no longer has the need to produce excess mucus. I had my surgery in New York, on Long Island in Syosett Hospital, Syosett, NY. Thanks for putting up this post I hope I find resolution to my problem.
  5. Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. I am having so much trouble with mucus and sinus that I have suspected all along it must have to do with the newly formed stomach and excessive production of mucus. I am seeing a GI doctor tomorrow. In the meanwhile I spoke to my surgeon and read some of the info you have posted. He phoned in a precription for the Aciphex and said it was OK for me to try it. What I really want to know if you don't mind is if it has resolved your excessive mucus/sinus problem. and If you are experiencing any negative side effects from it like a severely dry mouth especially over night, any nausea? Thanks so much.
  6. Has the Acifex fixed the problem? How long have you been taking it? Can you please tell me if there are any adverse side effects to the Acifex? All of the symptoms you have described I am having and then some. In the morning I literally retch and heave as if I am vomiting but nothing is coming out except for excessive saliva and some mucus. I am in severe distress because of this. I made an appointment to see a GI specialist tomorrow but now I wonder if it's an allergist I should be seeing instead. All of the acid reflux meds I have tried like prilosec, protonix, etc. have made my morning symptoms worse...thickened the mucus lining my throat and mouth etc. I have suspected that this problem stems from this surgery somehow and you may have the answer. Your allergist seemed to be able to decipher the problem. Where is he/she located?
  7. I have had a continual sinus drip (more like a flow) since the surgery. It can irritate my throat. Also in the morning when I brush my teeth and gargle I retch and heave and gag and I think it's related to my sinus/mucus problem.
  8. Tiffy you are an inspiration and hope to those of us who are struggling. Thank you for being here. xx
  9. I know what you are going through. I pray that you get relief.
  10. 3+ months post op and once again I am having trouble eating! I don't wake up hungry at all but manage to get in about 4oz of cream of wheat, I add protein powder to it. After that I'm basically full for the day and NOTHING appeals to me. I've lost my taste for all sweets even fruit. I don't know if it's because I just starting taking a new antidepressant drug Zoloft? I am really depressed and the lack of appeal for food has me worried. Any insights are appreciated.
  11. I'm with you. In fact I can't take any artificial sweeteners either! I am not afraid of carbs like fruits and veggies but at 3 months out I still don't seem to have much room in there after eating protein first.
  12. I over stocked my pantry with so many things I could not tolerate after the surgery. One thing that I have been able to consistently able to eat is cream of wheat, I add a little of Jay Robb vanilla protein powder to it with a drop of pure maple syrup and some low fat milk. I drink vitamin waters since the surgery I have lost my taste for plain water. I stocked up on all the flavors I liked pre surgery and post surgery the only one I could tolerate is the tropical citrus. I ended up buying things like ricotta and cottage cheese but could not tolerate them either. I also bought a bunch of baby food and only ate a few jars of the fruit. It's hard to tell before the surgery what you will want to drink and eat since tastes change so drastically. At least mine did. I still can't eat fresh fruit it's just too sweet and I completely lost my taste for sweets. Hope this helped a bit. Wishing you smooth sailing all the way through.
  13. I too am awaiting answers to your questions. I do hope things here will pick up now that the holidays are over.
  14. Norma I'm so sorry of your struggle with your knee. From everything I've read and anyone I know who has had knee surgery it does get better. I pray that you will have sustained relief each and every day and that very soon the pain will be a thing of the past.
  15. The binder really helps! I saved mine from when I had an abdominal hernia repair where I was supplied one in that hospital. I was not given one where I had the sleeve surgery so I used the one I had and it's adjustable with velcro. It really helped me for the first couple of weeks out from surgery.
  16. I just bought a 32oz bottle of "Liquimax Complete Nutrition Multi Vitamin Formula" from Costco. It's a one month supply, tastes good and was about $12.00. I have been taking the "petite" Citrical Calcium Citrate pills 2x per day. They all have some Vitamin D3 but I also take a seperate D 5000 IU's a couple of times a week. After I finish this bottle I might like to try what Tiffy is taking...GNC Solotron chewable with bioavailable iron twice daily.
  17. Norma I'm happy you are home and managing. I just can't believe how healthy your attitude is considering all you have to contend with. I myself can't get excited aout anything anymore but that's another story. Contratulations on your new clothing size. I am so happy you are happy to have had the sleeve surgery. Take good care now of that knee and as for the rest you know what to do. Much love and gratitude -Lis
  18. So sorry your going through such discomfort.Although, not an expert, I would try to get in a lot of fluid with electrolytes/ potassium first and then go for the protein. Some people drink gatoraide I drink vitamin water, both have electrolytes. you might want to use a moist heating pad on your back in the meanwhile to relieve the spasms.
  19. I was catheterized for a while but when they took the catheter out I had a very hard time peeing. The nurses had to force urine out from me while I was lying in bed...(they did something and it poured out). After that one of the night nurses gave me a hot water bottle to rest on my belly while I sat on the toilet and it helped me to relax and urinate on my own.
  20. Drinking warm water with lemon sounds like a good idea. I am going to try to do this tomorow morning before I attempt to brush my teeth and gargle. Maybe this will prevent me from having to go through the horrid gagging, heaving and retching I have been going through every morning! I hope it works. Thanks.
  21. Before my surgery I had some sort of mucus thickness trapped in my throat. It was something that was bothersome to me because I could not seem to dislodge it. Right after surgery whilst in my room I began to gag, (before I could even have ice chips) and I heaved and retched and out came globs of brownish black foamy mucus. I think it was what was lodged in there for whatever reason. I also needed my esophagus to be repaired during my sleeve surgery so who knows if any of my symptoms were related. All this guess work is very frustrating and I really wish that there was more certainty where the medical professionals were concerned. I do hope that you get the answers and remedies you need. please let me know how thing progress and I will do the same for you.
  22. Congrats Tiffy! Here's to a healthy, happy and wonderfully maintaned new year! God love you, you've really carried alot on your shoulders and I'm hoping this year brings you unspeakable joy and fulfilment.
  23. More of the same from me .....prayers, hugs and well wishes......I look forward to hearing from you all when your ready and able. God speed and blessings. happy new year!
  24. Tiffy and Anna that you soooooooooooo much for keeping me in your prayers. Thank you so much for reading my post and caring enough to let me know. I wish you both a blessed and happy and healthy new year. I just wish I'd friends like you guys close by to give great big hugs to.
