After my 4 wks of liquids, I have 4 wks of soft foods. Im 5 wks ojt now so I've been eating soft foods for a week now. My biggest go to food is chili with a little melted cheese. Fills me up with very little. Altho I eat 7-8 times a day, I am pretty much getting sick of chili really fast. Every morning I eat 1 egg and 2 pcs melba toast. That will kepp me maybe 3 hrs.
I've also eaten mashed potatoes, refried Beans, turkey lunchmeat, jack cheese, and french fries (no basher please). I have tolerated everything I've tried. The only things I must wait another 3 weeks for is tougher meats (chicken boobs, steak, etc), raw fruits and veggies, bread, rice, Pasta, and nuts and seeds. My program allows for everything in moderation at week 8. Can't wait for my 1st grilled cheese....I could only eat half with my lapband so im hoping 1/3 of it will be enuf with my sleeve.
I lost lost 104 lbs eating evrything in moderation. So I expect my sleeve to work as well (hopefully better) than my lapband...
    Good luck

I didn't like McD's before my surgery, let alone afterwards. It's funny ur mentioning this right now. Last month, McD's came out with the buy 1 get 1 free of Big Macs. haven't wanted a Big Mac in about 10 yrs. Till I saw the commercial. About a week ago, my poor hubby had to get dressed (we're usually in bed by 9) at 9 pm (cuz it's only after 9) and go get me a Big Mac. It's been 11 mths since my revision and that 1/3 of a Big Mac was yummy, not at all like I remembered it from 10 yrs ago.
Hope this isn't the start of something...
But, since u asked, I DO eat most of my fav foods (incuding pizza, tacos, burgers, fries) occasionally and a very small amt (like I can eat about 1/2 pc of thin crust pizza, 1/3 of an In and Out cheeseburger, 2/3 of a Del Taco soft taco, about 8 fries-and this isn't all in 1 meal, btw! LOL). I luv my tiny tummy and I don't want to ruin it and it's affects by eating too much/too often.
When u start sliding into a single digit pair of jeans, u really don't want to go back to a size 22 again...
    Good luck!

In and Out and 4 Guys also have "Protein style" burgers which r wrapped in lettuce. Hubby gets these all the time. It's a great way to eat a burger, holding it in ur hands like an actual burger. Personally, I don't like lettuce wrapped burgers. It's not really a burger without the bun. I eat them occasionally, and I will eat about 1/3 of an In and Out. Hubby can eat In and Out about 3x a week. I like it about once a month.

My surgery was almost 3 yrs ago now. No fill at placement. 6 wks later, he put 5cc in. No change. Another 6 wks and he gave me another 2cc. Still no change. Another 6 wks and another 1cc, I finally found restriction! I remember eating like 4i bites of chicken, 3 bites of potato, and a couple bites of green Beans and being very satisfied. That chicken dinner lasted about 56 meals in my to go box.
Now, almost 3 yrs later, numerous fills and a couple of unfills, I have about 7cc in it and I think I may need a little fill. Im experiencing reflux tho, so i may have another slip. No fills for me in the immediate future.
Hope that helps. Oh, I have a 14cc band

My bmi is 28. Im scheduled for band revision on July 16th cuz of a slipped band. My insurance is covering it cuz its a complication and obesity is a lifelong disease. I've already proven I NEED a tooo, as I've gained back 30 of my 104 lbs lost. I want to lose those 30 + an extra 14 to get me to my new 130 goal (it was 135, I changed it). So only 44.
However when I was banded 3 1/2 yrs ago, my bmi was 41 (248 lbs). While Im only in the overweight category now, I still need a lifelong tool to help me get to my goal, just as much as someone with a bmi of 50.
    Goodnluck to u

I was starving by day 4. I drank 1 oz of Protein Shake every hour (as per insruction) and broth, cream Soups, Jello, and popsicles in between. I was on liquids for 4 weeks. I thought Id literally starve to death. I didn;t cheat once (cuz Im married to the food nazi and I knew he'd tattle to my dr) but nothing worked. Cream soups lasted about an hour then I was hungry again. I musta had alot of ghrelin that they left in there cuz I was seriously hungry, not head hunger.

I white knuckled it until I could have soft foods. I planned those refrried Beans with a little melted cheese and sour cream. It was like steak and lobster. I made it! And u will too. And dont worry about eating too much when ur able to eat. When u get solid food in ur stomach, it will tell u when you've had enuf. I could only eat about 4 tiny bites of those beans. I was hungry an hour later (Ate often, just not much) but I got full really quickly. Im almost 4 yrs out now, almost to goal (had a setback) and still the same way - can only eat very little but hungry soon afterwards.

    Good luck!

Trader Joes has really good cartons of healthy organic cream Soups. Luv the Tomato basil one! When I was on the liquid diet for 4 weeks in 2009 after lapband surgery, I ate the same thing every single day (1 can of Campbells Tomato Soup (broken up into 4 meals),a couple containers of Jello, a few cups of chicken broth, and a few popsicles). I couldn't look at tomato Soup for at least a year.
Now that I' looking forward to (NOT!) another 4 weeks on liquids (revision to sleeve coming up), I've found more yummy Soups that I plan on enjoying. I'm sure I'll be sick of them soon enuf tho!
Thai tomato sound good. Right now I'm into Progresso Creamy Tomato Basil. Yummy and 140 cals per 8 oz!

I agree with the fact that over time, everyones stomach relaxes, no matter how big ur bougie was. I'm 13 mths out and long for the days when I could take 4 bites and be full.
Ur only a month out. I was still on liquids for 4 weeks, soft for 4 weeks. U can't really tell how much you'll be able to hold till ur eating solid food. And u still have swelling from the surgery.
Totally normal to only eat a couple bites. I got hungry within 90 mins after a meal. Always had to eat something. That will change once ur able to eat a little more.
So thankful that even after 13 mths, I'm still only able to eat a small amt. Good luck to u!

We all have THOSE friends. The ones who wear a 6 but want to wear a 2. They b**** about how hard it is to lose 20 lbs. And I used to think "Girl, I WISH I only had 20 lbs to lose. Can't be THAT hard..."
Now that I'm face to face with losing that last 20 lbs, I've realized how hard it truly is. The first 100 lbs was easy peasy. I've been tossing the same 2 lbs back and forth for 2 mths. My goal right now is to not gain...then on Jan 2 (after the holidays) I will count everything that goes into my mouth, hoping that will chase those last 20 lbs away
I'm now in an 8. If I never lost another pound, I'd be happy. But 130 is my CHALLENGE. I've never before weighed 130 (or 140 for that matter) in my entire adult life. I think I came outa the womb at 180.
    I WILL weigh 130 someday.

I'm an Army vet. When I joined (in 1996), I had to get a special waiver cuz I was 5 yrs post op gallbladder removal. They take any surgery (even if it doesn't affect ur health) very seriously. They don't want to be responsible for any issues arising in the future.
From what I know, wls is no-go in any of the branches. Not only becuz of the anatomy alteration issue, but becuz of the special dietary issues. They can't provide future dietary specificities and they don't want to be responsible for any problems that might come up becuz of it. Imagine urself in the field for 4 weeks eating MRE's. No special dispensation for ur dietary needs.
    Look at : http://armypubs.army.mil/epubs/pdf/r40_501.pdf
On page 5, ull see the remark:
    i. Other. History of any gastrointestinal procedure for the control of obesity does not meet the standard. Artificial openings, including, but not limited to ostomy (V44), do not meet the standard I think all the branches probly use the same physical requirements. The requirements are very strict. The Army makes u crab crawl in ur underwear to make sure u don't have flat feet. Picture about 30 women, all lined up in their panties and crab crawling across the floor while drs watch. I remember it well... Good luck in fighting it. The military is a tough fight for sure...If u have any questions, just ask...

marfar7 reacted to AvaFern in What’s Your Attitude Towards Carbs?
I love carbs, lol. When I started the sleeve diet I knew I would not be willing to give up carbs for the rest of my life and that if I lost all of the weight on a strict low-carb diet the chance that I gained it back quickly when I went back to carbs was high. As such, I ate carbs the entire time I was losing and while I probably lost slower, I can now eat pretty much whatever carbs I want without worrying about gaining. To be accurate, I don't eat Pasta mostly because it makes me sick and I rarely eat bread, I do however eat crackers most days, oatmeal and granola for Breakfast, and other things that have a good degree of carbs in them. When consumed in moderation, I see nothing wrong with carbs and in hindsight I am glad that I didn't follow the Protein ONLY diet that I have heard people talk about because I would never be able to sustain that in the long term. Also, I found that while I was losing and even now, carbs are the sole source of energy that gets me through hard workouts. They have a solid place in my diet and in the weight loss I have attained and maintained.
    So, I <3 carbs!

I was in the hospital on IV Dilaudid for 48 hrs - so Im pretty sure it was the 3rd or 4th day that was the worst (without the Dilaudid). My 2nd day in the hospital was pretty bad also. I had a severe reaction to Reglan on day 5 and had to go to the ER so that day was pretty miserable. By a wek tho I was feeling decent enuf to play poker with our league and walk my dog. Everytime I got on here, people who were my time out (2 days, 5 days, 10 days) were all running marathons and I was barely showering. I had a rougher recovery I guess.
But then, the dr spent 30 extra mins digging my band out of my stomach so he said Id be even more sore. I believe it. At 2 weeks, I couldnt even tell I had surgery...
Good luck to u! SOunds like ur off to a great painless start

Hey everyone. Its been a while since Ive been on here. Been hiding my head in the sand for a long, long time. Well, Im pulling myself out of the sand now. Been watching the scales go up slowly. They hit 180 last week. Was 150 last year. That was it. My aha moment. Haven't felt like I even had a sleeve lately. While I still eat small meals, I can snack endlessly. And yes, I know thats not good to do so. Just becuz I can doesn't mean I should. I know all that..
As I said, Im pulling myself back up. Been back on track for 4 days now. Focusing on Protein (but Im not afraid of small amts of carbs either), drinking Water, not drinking with meals, and moving more. I need to lose 40 lbs. Sounds like a daunting task right now, but Ive done it before, I can do it again.
ANy pointers out there from people who have been where I am? High Protein, low calorie Snacks?
I appreciate any support I can get. Ive had my sleeve for 2 1/2 yrs and Ive never made it to goal. This time I will!
