  1. I know I'm not alone in this but something dawned on me a few nights ago. I am very obsessed with food. I didn't realize how much time I spent thinking about food and places that I wanted to dine at. How much time I spent cooking indulgent foods or watching cooking shows. My ex and I would watch the food network all day long and then cook the food we saw featured. It was great for him because he was the size of a toothpick but terrible for me because I was overweight. Our whole life was like some restaurant victory tour. I was banded almost three weeks ago and I'm slowly coming to terms with this obsession. How did you all handle your obsession with food?
  2. I have the same plan as you and a 6 month diet wasn't required. You need a BMI of 40 and 5 years of documented weight. You can have a lesser BMI but you need comorbidities to qualify. Once I had all my info it was submitted and in 4 days I was approved. They do send you an approval letter in the mail which is a great reassurance. I had a BMI of 38 plus two comorbidities...I only had three years of documented weight and I still got approved. Something doesn't sound right...I would definitely keep calling. Maybe try the care coordination department and see if they can give you a clear answer.
  3. Here's an egg recipe that some of you may like. It's a baked egg... Spray a ramekin with cooking spray. Crack one egg into the ramekin Add one serving of light Boursin cheese(about a tablespoon) Sprinkle about a teaspoon of chicken broth over the mixture Sprinkle with black pepper, salt and finely chopped basil leaf. Bake for 15 minutes You don't have to use Boursin cheese...you can use any light or low fat/fat free cheese. Once you're able to tolerate meat you can add pieces of proscuitto to it. You can also add green onions, garlic, red peppers etc. It's a nice way to have a soft egg with flavor.
  4. Call your doctor if you're vomiting they will call something in for you that will settle your stomach. Please don't wait any longer...call now!
  5. A little tip for you...the Protein vials are best if you put half of it in a cold bottle of Water plus Crystal light. In your case I would go with grape to match your protein. Don't try to drink the whole vial at once as your body won't absorb more than 20+ mg. I also like Oh yeah! In Vanilla and chocolate, nectar - Apple Ecstasy, Labrada Lean Body - Chocolate Milk shake. I got a great sample starter pack from bariatriceating.com It was a great way to try the different shakes without committing to buying a large one and then disliking it.
  6. I agree with Laptastic! Your money would be best spent on cleaning your own house. There's nothing like having a clean home. Plus how thorough is the hotel about kashering? It's spring and Pesach...use this as an opportunity to give your house a thorough cleaning.
  7. Are you serious? This does not bode well with me. I have horrible PMS and I turn into such a witch. I hope this is just a fluke and my pill starts working the proper way.
  8. I'm officially done with this assinine conversation. Apparently people in Europe are incapable of understanding you had a procedure. The fact that you need to have a dialogue about this speaks volumes about you and your commitment to losing weight. Good luck with your trip and your "future weight loss".
  9. Are you serious? You just got your band less than a month ago and you're thinking of sabotaging yourself before you start. I've traveled all over the world and dealt with many different cultures. It really isn't difficult to say I had a surgical procedure done and my stomach is now the size of an egg. Please don't be upset if I'm only able to eat a very small portion of food. People are capable of understanding and if anything they'll be curious and have many questions. It's not this big deal that you're making it out to be. You keep saying you want a dialogue etc but instead it seems as if you're looking for rationalizations for your future bad decision. Maybe, getting banded wasn't a big deal for you or maybe the reality of your new lifestyle hasn't set in. Getting an unfill is a BAD, BAD DECISION.
  10. I don't know why anyone is trying to convince you not to get an unfill when you seem hell bent on doing it. I say get the unfill, eat all you want and end up possibly sabotaging all the good work you've put in because really no one will understand that you've made a life changing decision and are trying to maintain your new lifestyle.
  11. Hey ladies! I've been taking Lybrel since 2007 and it's been amazing. I haven't had a period since november 2007. I had my surgery on 3/18 and sure enough couple days later Aunt Flo shows up. I can't begin to explain how hellish it is to have a period when you're newly banded. It's been 5 days and the period shows no signs of letting up. Has anyone had issues with birth control since getting banded.
  12. I started taking the zantac and my pain has decreased significantly. I think I was having major issues with gas. Today was actually tolerable. I just need to work on getting my energy up. How are you doing? Glad you were able to figure out the ticker.
  13. It never occured to me that the pain could be from the hernia repair. I took a zantac a few hours ago and it's helping with the burning sensation. I've never had heaartburn so it didn't occur to me that I had heartburn. I'm feeling a little bit better and hope things get moving soon (gas). I'm glad your appointment went well. How long will you be on full liquids? I think I start mushies not this saturday but the following saturday. I'm going to my first post-op support group on monday. I totally forgot! To add the ticker to you signature go to tickerfactory.com and create your ticker. To add it to your signature go to the User CP and click on edit signature and then place the code for the ticker in the box. Hope that helps :cursing:
  14. Hey! I'm 32 from South Florida and was banded a week ago (3/18/09). I'm also looking for bandster friends around my age. When do you go in for your first fill??
  15. WOW! It's so awesome that you're doing so well. I wish I could say the same. I am absolutely miserable...in pain all the time and the gas is just ridiculous. The liquid diet has been rough. I seem to get full quickly and the burping starts etc but my stomach burns from being hungry. The constant hunger is literally consuming me. I had to go see my therapist because I've been so anxious about being hungry. He prescribed aversion therapy and I'll let you know how it goes. How was your follow-up appointment? I have mine tomorrow.
  16. Thanks for the responses. It's definitely gas. I thought I was doing well with regard to the gas but now I have that unmistakable shoulder pain. It hurts when I breathe!! I broke the rules too and had some thin mashed potatoes with chipotle. It seemed to help get things moving a bit.
  17. I've had my band for 6 days now and I have yet to figure out what's what. I have a pain in the middle of my chest and it burns. I'm burping all the time and I'm starving. Is my band just sore or am I having some serious gas pains. Also is anyone starving like I am. I haven't had any solids since 3/10. I would kill for a poached egg.
  18. Hey, It's nice that there's a group like this. I'm 32 with nokids an I live in South Florida. I was banded a last week on 3/18/09
  19. Hi Teachergirl! It's great that you're doing so well. I'm on day 5 and I'm miserable and hungry all the time.
  20. What are you having issues with? Perhaps I could help to clarify etc. Of all the programs I've seen out there, they're the best. They really prepare you for surgery and life after surgery.
  21. This is a bullet: NEW WHEY Liquid Protein 42g (fruit punch) Made By IDS for Only $28.95
  22. I don't know a Dr. Bass in SWFL but I do know of one in Hollywood FL and he is pretty good. I used his partner Dr. Cohen and they were pretty upfront about costs etc.
  23. These are the protein bullets that people talk about: NEW WHEY Liquid Protein 42g (fruit punch) Made By IDS for Only $28.95 If there's a Target close to you I suggest getting a Husband Pillow. I bought one and I've been using it since my surgery on wednesday and it helps a great deal. Where did you get your compression cami?
  24. I've been flying as a Flight Attendant for 10 years now. Pretty much everything in the pressurized cabin increases in size. If you take a look at Water bottles, chips etc...they all get extremely puffy during flight. The same thing most likely happens with the band. It should take a few hours for the swelling to dissipate. There's also the issue of dehydration during flight so it's important to sip on some water and try your best to stay hydrated.
  25. OMG! I can't believe how awful I feel. I was doing great the past two days and woke up today in a ridiculous amount of pain. I'm swollen everywhere...even my boobs are swollen. I can't tell if I'm having hunger pangs or gas pain. It just freaking hurts!! Anyone else in this circle of hell with me?
