  1. You might be interested in reading "Eating for Life". [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/explorer/0972018417/2/ref=pd_lpo_ase/002-8179998-7205644?ie=UTF8]http://www.amazon.com/gp/explorer/0972018417/2/ref=pd_lpo_ase/002-8179998-7205644?ie=UTF8[/ame] I use this book as part of my doctor's program. It was really informative and easy to read. It discusses portion sizes and general nutrition plus includes lots of recipes. I've lost over 100 pounds following this book!

  3. Time becomes your friend with this problem. Sometimes I force myself to take a walk or move around a little, it seems to relieve the pressure for me. Or, maybe it just helps take my mind off of it. Otherwise, I'm not sure what else you can do. I wouldn't eat anything more until you feel better though. Sorry, that's the best advice I've got. Feel better!
  4. I still get TOM every month so I can't really relate except to say that weight loss releases a lot of hormones that were stored in fat. This has caused all sorts of strange TOM stuff for me...Early/Late/Heavy/Light--the whole gammut! My guess is that your body is releasing hormones.
  5. Hi Deana, I am supposed to do liquids for the day of the fill then progress to mushies the next day and if that goes well then I'm back to normal. Yes, I do believe you can get a false sense of extra restriction following a fill due to the swelling. For me, I felt really restricted for the first 3 days then it backed down quite a bit as my swelling went down. Good luck!
  6. Oh yeah...TOM does a job on your body. I can "gain" 5 pounds but it's water and when TOM goes away so does the 5 pounds. I wouldn't worry about the gain until TOM passes.

  8. Yeah, I would say this is normal. In fact, I didn't re-learn how to burp for approximately 2 months post-op. Discomfort when breathing in??? I don't know. It could just be swelling. If it's really bothersome or if you don't feel like you're getting enough air then call your doc. I didn't experience any breathing problems from surgery.
  9. I'm in! I've got a Christmas challenge going as well so I need to keep my buns in gear!
  10. OK, OK, I know I posted the past 2 messages but...I was cleaning out my closet and I'm curious if anyone is interested in some 26/28 clothes. If you are, just PM me and I can tell you what I have. I'll pay for the shipping, I'd just be happy for someone to use them. (I would describe them as your basic Walmart sorta clothes. Nothing fancy, but there are some "business casual" things that I've worn to work.) If you're interested please let me know. I figured I'd offer before throwing this stuff away.
  11. Here's our current Christmas Goal 2006 list. I'm keeping a spreadsheet so I don't lose anyone and I sorted it alphabetically so it looks a little different. 12. Waterlily, you are so sweet. I love this thread too, thanks for starting it!! Elisabethsew and A1ikou-congratulations! welcome! yippee! indianlight, cool, I've added you to the list! I put down a 28lb goal but feel free to update that if you decide to change your goal. PS-What in the world is a "stone"?!! I hope everyone got through Ernesto OK. We've had a lot of tree damage and many businesses lost their billboards/signs but I think overall we faired OK. He packed a bigger punch than I think anyone expected...it was a little scary yesterday!
  13. You rock! That's amazing, congratulations!~
  14. Sure, I'm game! I am 291 right now. I need some extra motivation and $20 at Walmart could buy me a new shirt or two!!
  15. Happy healing Lots! We wish you the best! Ralheit, thanks for sharing the update!
  16. Hi Newbies! Lanie you had your first PB or Productive Burp! I don't think you hurt anything. You probably drank a little too fast or two big of a gulp. Just take things easy and you should be just fine! Mstrish I think you're right...pain meds can make your tummy upset. And "digestive issues" are pretty common for the newly banded. If it gets really bad then you may want to call your doctor. Happy healing and welcome!!
  17. Cool! I'm really happy for you! Keep up the good work!
  18. I think it's true...I had real problems with GERD pre-band but now it's completely gone. That really sucks for those who get it post-band. But, when I did have GERD, I never ate past 8PM or else I couldn't sleep. Just a thought.
  19. Good job! I'm so proud of you! What a good day, huh?!
  20. But how does SHE feel about things? Maybe she's not as upset about it as you are? That's the dangerous thing about trying to compare yourself against someone else. We're all different and will travel our journey at different paces. If she's upset about it then encourage her to post on LBT too, there's lots of helpful posts that may give her some great ideas. If she's not upset then tell her congrats on losing 22 pounds and let her travel her journey in her own way. Good luck to you both!
  21. I agree with above...you and your doc should discuss this. But, in MY experience, my doc was OK with me advancing to mushies on week 2 then slowly introducing solids by week 3. I was basically eating normally in 2 weeks. But, one word of caution...dry/sticky foods like Peanut Butter sometimes give me a rough time. I like the idea above about mixing some peanut butter into a Protein shake instead of just eating a spoonful of it. You'll want to experiment slowly because at this early stage in the game you don't want to get something stuck. Good luck!
  22. No, I don't think I've busted loose from my mini-plateau yet. I just got TOM (two weeks early) so I think hormones may have something to do with it...we'll find out soon! I know, I know, I KNOW about office junk food. There is a whole stinkin' table sitting in the middle of my office that at this moment has two packages of cookies, wheat thins and some 2 day old donuts on it! You're right...we really can't do much about it either. But, I enjoy South Beach bars--140 cal, 10 protein and they are DELICIOUS. That's what I look forward to as my "snack break". They actually keep me satisfied for a few hours to boot! My doctor said they are pretty well balanced so they are a safe option for me. Have you ever tried them? They are really good tasting, you feel like you're splurging without the guilt!
  23. We'll you're either having a severe case of the "last meals" or you may not be ready for a committment to the new lifestyle change. It's probably the first. I think most of us went through a the "last meal" phase. About a week before surgery my best friend and I went out for one last hurrah...Outback. I had cheese fries, bloomin' onion, breaded mushrooms plus dinner and several drinks then afterward we waddled to the ice cream parlor and had a cone. It was quite the sight! But, I was blowing off steam and nothing more. After surgery I stuck to the plan and have begun to be happy about healthy eating. And now that I have my band I know for myself that life hasn't really changed all that much and so it wasn't really necessary to have put myself through that stress. If you really, really want this then you'll be fine. If you aren't excited about your surgery then perhaps you could take some time to make sure you feel comfortable with everything because being successful is going to require a lot of dedication to yourself. Only you know if you're just nervous with a bad case of the "last meals" or if you deep down don't want to do this. I hope your decision comes easy for you and let us know how you're feeling. Good luck! I think you'll be fine!
  24. Holy moly, that is terrible. Thank you for posting to let us know. Please send our best wishes for a speedy recovery!
  25. Molly, congrats on the good fill! I'm happy for ya, do you think you're at the sweet spot then? Welcome all new christmas goalies!!
