  1. July 1, 2009 175 lbs. Chest - 36.5" Waist - 31" Hips - 42" Arms - 12.5" Thigh - 24" During the month of June, I did okay. I didn't gain any weight. I only lost about 3 pounds and a couple of inches. However, progress is progress as I said in an earlier post. I think I am headed in the right direction. I have been walking every morning at 5:30 a.m. for about an hour and I have been lifting weights after work. I really don't know how that's going to work. I am extremely pleased with my current look. I am wearing sizes 10 and 12 and the 12's are very loose. I am feeling more confident. I just don't want to become complacent. I want to make it to goal this time. I am less than 25 lbs. away and I want to go all the way to my goal. I am very sore right now and it feels so good because it's a reminder of all the hard work waking up early in the morning to walk and taking the time after work to lift. I hope to continue to work to improve the following: 1. Drink more water. 2. Eat more protein. 3. Post on this blog

  3. June 30, 2009 174 lbs. For the past week, I have increased my physical activity. I have been walking. Yesterday, I walked and lifted weights. This morning, I walked. I am hoping to work hard during the month of July because I want to be at or near goal when school starts back.

  5. I can't eat tuna or chicken salad...chicken and fish are both hit or miss. I don't particularly enjoy pork, but I have never had a problem with it. I can eat bacon all day. I call my band psycho because sometimes I can eat one thing and other times I can't.
  6. Congratulations on your success and I wish you much more... The band is just a tool and you worked it... you lost so...much weight in so...little time that it is truly amazing. That success is attributed to you and your dedication. Keep up the good work!
  7. I am approximately 175 lbs. and at 5' 4" I wear all size 12's and some 10's.
  8. I have low blood pressure and recently I have had some dizzy spells as well. Thanks for sharing your experience because it has made me realize the importance of not ignoring my experiences.
  9. I understand how you feel. This is an awful experience. I have an ongoing, daily, emotional relationship with my scale and it still amazes me how my weight varies. I have found that taking my measurements once per month has helped keep me motivated because even though I have only averaged a weight loss of 5 lbs per month, I have lost a lot of inches. Stay focused on your long term goal...
  10. I think the best advise would come from your doctor. I certainly admire your positive attitude in spite of a two-year plateau. I wish you much success.
  11. I cannot eat bread. After I had my surgery, I no longer eat bread or drink carbonated drinks. These are two of my doctor's instructions that I have followed religiously.
  12. I cannot attribute my weight loss to exercise. However, I am at a plateau, so I think that it's going to take exercise in order for me to move forward and lose the rest of the weight.
  13. June 21, 2009 178.6 lbs. I know that the band works for me when I work it. If I were to be honest with myself, I have not worked the band at all. The band is doing its job in spite of my weaknesses. I can't eat skittles, icecream, and m&m's and expect to lose weight. I hardly drink any water and I haven't been doing any purposeful exercising. So...I have to quit lying to myself. Do I really hate plateaus? If I hate the state that I am in weight wise, then I will exercise, drink my water, stop eating slider foods, and increase my protein intake. It's that simple. Otherwise, I don't hate plateaus, I hate myself as evident with my destructive behavior.

  15. Good morning...I enjoyed your post. You're an inspiration. Keep up the good work.
  16. Thanks for sharing. I hope you feel better.
  17. Congratulations on your weight loss and overcoming your plateau. I know it's hard work and plateaus are discouraging, but you're an inspiration that we can overcome with the right frame of mind. KUTGW!
  18. The band works when we work it!
  19. Honestly, I expected to lose weight faster. Because I have been a yo-yo dieter for the past 10 or so years, I know I could have lost the weight faster by doing low-carb. However, I would have gained it back as I have several times. So...I am thankful for this process even though it has been slower and much harder than I anticipated. I hate when someone refers to wls as the easy way out because there has not been anything easy about this journey. I still have to watch what I eat, drink, and I have to exercise. I would do it all over again.
  20. pounds lost 34 + 588 = 622 total
  21. Hey Ruth, Thanks for sharing your story. BTW...we have the same surgeon...Dr. Collier is great and Journeylite has been very supportive. My question for you though is what are the symptoms of acid reflux? Thanks for any information that you can share.
  22. Sven, Hang in there. I had my surgery in November and I didn't lose any weight from Jan. until March. Yes, it's discouraging, but I assure you that if you keep on keeping on -- eat your Protein, drink Water, and exercise -- the scale will eventually go down. I totally understand how you're feeling, but don't give up and don't give in...
